I much preferred the manga to the anime.I first watched the anime and was told the manga was much better. Since i liked the anime so much i went out and have actually bought 18 volumes of the Manga[i need the rest]. And i was like OMG. I noticed in the animethey left out some important keys to the plot which i wasn't very happy with but oh well. And i can't believe they finished the anime so early. They could've made a second series out of it at least! I also prefer the Manga because it goes into much more detail with the characters than the anime did. Although to be fair to the anime, it wasn't made bad compared to some that are out there. They did pretty well with it IMO. ^^

yea there was alot of things i found interesting that wasnt in the anime either.. i think i went and watched fruits basket like 9 ish times or so.. before i actually thought about reading the manga... waah.. im so lame like that.. I really did like the manga.. i know its wierd after watching the anime so many times it was like i had the voices and such in my head and oh my god i was crying so much at the end... it was really really much better then the anime.. but i still want to buy both... !!! I dont think the anime was bad...i mean when i saw it.. it was so good that i watched it several times.. and when i am done with my other series/projects i'll more then likely watch it again.. :D I liked it alot

I'm the same. I've re watched it who knows how many times and i still love it. I've just bought the complete set on DVD too. <3

Now i'm not sure if it's because i watched the dubbed before the subbed but i actually prefer the voices in the dubbed over the subbed because it was how i pictured the characters sounding myself. I found certain people's voices too high pitched in the subbed. But like i say it may be because i saw the dubbed before the subbed. ^^

I might see if i can download or view the remaining manga volumes i haven't watched yet online cuz i really wanna finish it! >.< But there have been quite a few moments in the manga where i've been reading it and it's choked me up. Natsuki Takaya is a genius and has definately become my favourite mangaka.

Actually the manga is starting to piss me off. The author has become a coward! She is making sure everyone has a coupling lined up. Honestly how is it possible that 13+ people all have the perfect mate near them. That's not realistic at all to me. Variety is the spice of life! Make some have a couple, some don't, and love triangles damn it!!

So anyways the first half the anime covers is perfect, earning it a spot in my favs, but after that I am loosing interest.

Lol... I reckon Kyou being beaten up by Yuki is quite funny haha...

The manga tells you more and if you watch only the anime you won't get all the information

After I watch the anime, I started reading the manga because the anime only left off at a certain point. (they should have a second season!)

The manga is definitely though. There is a lot more plot and character development. It's one my favorite mangas :)

I'd Prefer The Anime If It Has More Seasons Becoz Its Good To See The Characters Come To Liife On Screen
But The Manga Is Definately More Romatic && A Lot More In-depth

I love the manga.
The Fruits Basket manga was the second manga that affected me really deeply. I saw the anime after it and it was disappointing. Even the seiyuus of the most characters weren't fitting to me.
And the colors! I do not understand why did Tohru have blue eyes in the anime... or Yukis hair and eyes colors...

I love the manga. The anime doesn't reach its level... Doesn't even reach an acceptable level

The manga is of course longer and covers much more content, but for the duration of content that the anime covered, I preferred the anime. I generally prefer anime to manga simply because the anime provides animation and sound which gives overall greater immersion into the series. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed both the anime and manga.

Personally , I really like the anime , but the manga is the original story & it has several characters who do not appear in the anime . The manga also shows who ended up with who , so if I were you , I would read the manga & not just watch the anime .

Not everyone ends up with someone you know . For example , Momiji & Kagura . Besides , it would suck if there was only one or couples that actually ended up with each other . The point of having so many couples I think , is to show us how different people could be but still end up with each other ; opposites attract , right ?

I like the manga much better. I watched the anime first and thought "this is an unsatisfactory conclusion and I know there is WAY more to this story" so I picked up the manga. Actually just finished the series this morning. It's sad to see it go.

The anime was great, but the manga was definitely better. I love how dark it gets, and how bittersweet the whole story is. And was I the only one who was upset when they took out the fact that Momiji is half-German in the anime?

The manga. For sure. The anime was good, but it was much too short and really didn't cover much of the storyline.

Oh, and Kyo-Kun is much hotter in the manga. X D

Manga.

The anime was very good, though. It just sucked to miss out on all the characters that get introduced in the manga, and the real conclusion of the story.

I saw the anime first. But when I read the manga I was disapointed. The manga is a hundred times better than the anime was. They left out the good stuff in the anime.
But god do I love the manga. The ending was a good one too.

The anime is good in it's way because you get to see the characters move and stuff but I liked the manga so much more. it's complete and the story is really well made.
I would have liked the anime more if it were more episodes and the final wasn't hanged in a tree (that's how i like to call the unfinished anime)

The manga. Deeper storyline, cuter romance, and more characters shown up. The anime was just too short D: they should've made a season 2 for it. >.<

Definitely the manga. Normally, I'd prefer anime hands down because I like being to watch something more than just looking at pictures and reading it. The animation of anime allows you to actually see actions being done, allows you to hear what's being said and with the tone intended (because we all know tone affects the meaning of the words you say). But the anime was cut off short, focused more on the friendship between the trio, and was only a tiny portion of the whole thing. If you read the manga, you're able to see the story to the end, follow the characters as they mature and grow, and get closure to the wonderful story that is Fruits Basket.

I'd, without a doubt, pick the anime if they'd continued it to the end of the manga, but since they did not the manga is definitely better in my opinion.
