Existential anime

I'm looking for psychological anime with an existential theme. The best examples that I can think of is the last couple episodes of Evangelion, as well as Angel's Egg. I also plan to watch Serial Experiments Lain and Ergo Proxy as I'm told both of those fall into this category. Helping me fine any other anime similar to this that I haven't already seen is greatly appreciated.

Kaiba, Dennou Coil, Haibane Renmei, Mushishi, Kino no tabi, kite, Princess Tutu, Key: the metal idol, Armitage III, Memories, Neo tokyo, robot carnival, galactic railroad, Spring and Chaos, tsumiki no ie, voices of a distant star, perhaps The Place promised in our early days, inaka isha, aru tabibito no nikki, many more. Ghost in the shell would also be highly recommended, so the fact that you disliked it means our interests may be at variance. You can't lose anything by checking its sequel, innocence, it delves much more in existential philosophy than its predecessor (which for me is a minus, especially the way it is executed).

However, I would recommend you first watch some from your PTW list, there are many psychological titles there, so I do not understand why you need recommendations for more at this point. My top picks from there would be Lain, Mind game, Ergo proxy, Kigeki, Utena, Perfect Blue, Kare Kano, FLCL and perhaps Ghost Hound. But you would probably enjoy Bokurano more.
