Ok we are NOT discussing big and or bouncing titties here, now excessive sums of panties being flashed.

Nor excessive dependence on girls drawn as if illegal on any spot of the globe.

I am today wishing to discuss things like the way there is always a line drawn on the upper lip in the series Tenshi na Konamaiki. It's distracting for god's sake. The girl looks like she has a mustache or at least it makes you unconsciously think mustache when you see it.

Why the heck did the artist have to pick this style?
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

Had to Google it but yeah, that's strange.

More lip styles I'm not a fan of:

It's a cartooning style. What do you expect? It's part of the nature of caricature, and some artists chose to simply draw lips in that manner. Of course, whether we like it or not, that's irrelevent to the choice of the artist. Regardless, cartooning in of itself is not limited.

I haven't seen much about anime style that bugs me, but US is another story I could write a novel about.
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

Damn right it's not. The worst part isn't the modern artist though. It's actually the people who buy the crap they produce as they all seem to think that piles of shit constitutes "art".

Seriously, I may just take a leaf from Calvin & Hobbes. I'll wait till it snows a lot, go up to the hills and find a nice, picturesque scene, write my name in the snow, then sell it to some moron who thinks he knows art.
What a day! What a lovely Day!

Oh, now about the skeletal-like human figures of animes like XXXaholic or Tsubasa Chronicles?
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

I actually like the CLAMP art style. It's one of my favorites. :) Between CLAMP and ... ummm... who was it that did Clannad and Kanon 2006 again? Kyoto? Anyways, those are my favorites.

Least favorite... probably the style seen in a series like GTO. A little too "rough around the edges" for my taste. And the way they kept giving Onizuka those stupid facial expressions. I lost count as to how many times that did that per episode.

Yeah, those exaggerated facial expression do get old quickly. This would be my only real issue with the Aria series.

Excellent topic. When I started watching Kimi ni Todoke I really loathed the art style. Not sure what the style is called. Not so much the cartoonish style where they picture Sawako as a 2-d chibi, but just the lack of overall detail. It's almost high-school or amateurish in design to the un-educated eye (Me). It has grown on me and I am ok with it now but I would prefer production art on the scale of say Samurai 7

Anything designed by Peter Chung. There's something about his style that just makes my eyes bleed.

Not a visual annoyance but an audio one. In the last three or so eps of the second season of Tsubasa Chronicle, there is a song called Sacrifice.

This was done in 2006. Compare it too Juno Reactor's Navras from 2003.

I love Kajiura Yuki's soundtrack dearly, I do. But its hard to fully enjoy the end of this great series when I get distracted by this song every other scene.

Mine would probably be your overly muscled and totally grunge type. DBZ excluded on the simple fact that for some odd reason I'm sentimental to it. What' I'm talking about though is more of your Baki The Grappler or Berserk.

sorry to revive an old topic ;)

Eyebrows drawn on top of light hair.
I don't mind the Initial D lips, but there's also those lips that don't connect.
Those Case Closed pointy noses.
When the artist can typically draws really good looking characters yet makes the background and supporting characters really ugly.

Pointy chins.... something about an anime with pointy chins justs irritates me. I am not a lover of the character artwork in Shiki, but the story is great so I will bear with it. OH, and one thing anime artists cant do is feet... ye gads.
May the Uguu be with you.

I hate it when they drawn eyes on top of hair that should be obscuring the eyes. I just dont get that one.

It annoys me too when they draw the girls with the impossibly complex hairstyles and silly frilly clothing.
