Okay then... why the crap did they decide to make the last episode dvd only and then release it 4 months after the series had been aired? By the time it comes out I'd need to refresh by re-watching the series before seeing it, and although I haven't watched episode 12 yet, I heard it had a horrible ending.. so they seriously think they should leave fans with such a bad ending for 4 months before releasing the real ending? I'm really not liking how anime has been heading lately... all the last minute announcements of ova's, specials, or movies coming months or years later for the actual ending after watching nearly the entire series of said anime. Shikabane isn't the only one this has been done to.

Shikabane isn't the only one this has been done to. I don't think that's really a recent trend (End of Evangelion, anyone?) and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei wasn't a real sequel.Although I would have liked more, I think they finished Higurashi rather well with Koro. I'd kind of would have prefered a real ending to Elfen Lied like in the manga but I don't think they could fix it by releasing another season or OVA. They just had to rush out an ending without thinking of the story. It's always been that overrated anime like Bleach get to take their time getting to conclusions which would have been flat and boring either way while less popular anime have to be quickly pushed aside without getting the time to reach the endings they deserve. At least we get an OVA even if I'm not sure how they could possibly tie up all the loose ends with just one. They still have more than enough plot to easily stretch it for another 1-2 seasons. Not to mention what they could have done if they hadn't tried cramming all that plot into those last few episodes. Shikabane has just as much or more potentail than those other overrated anime with 100+ episodes but even so we're stuck with just 25 and one OVA. Rant is done Metro said: rofl and I can't believe people dare to score this higher than 6. It's not a bad Anime It's just a rushed ending so do us a favor and stfu. ty ^_^ |

I thought elfen lied had a pretty good ending, although from what i heard of the manga, it did sound like it ended better. The ending of kuro was pretty disappointing though and i say that as a big fan of the series. I'm not really sure why they brought the whole evil girl's relation to makina in, was a pretty poor move that didn't really add anything. It really seemed to me like that last episode of kuro wasn't the ending and they meant this coming episode to be the final episode. Kind of a bait and switch to make people buy the dvds which i find to be a pretty lame move personally.

There have been a few shows that have an extra OVA or a missing episode specifically on DVD. The first time I really noticed this and thought it strange was with the Spice and Wolf s1 and the Ova episode coming out of the middle of the show. Other times it's just been a pure filler/fanservice episode that takes place after the events of the show. Sometimes they've done this just to help promote the DVD/BR sales, and others because the time slots weren't appropriate. No one seems to complain when they put out an ep 0 ova, but now if they have an ep 24+ova/movie it's a horrible injustice to the fans? (all of whom are most likely not the ones buying the Japanese DVDs at ~$90 for every 3 episodes). As for the mention of some of these shows quickly getting announced for a movie sequel, what's so wrong with that? Isn't it something to look forward to? Unlike how most shows end with nothing, where we could have a sequel someday, but who knows when if ever. At how things are going, I'm pretty sure people would rather Haruhi S2 had been a movie or two, that had come out a year after the original, instead of 8 episodes of Endless Eight coming out 3 years after the original.

My complaint isn't so much aimed at the fact that it's a dvd only release... but at the point that it will be nearly 4 months before we get to see the true ending. It would be one thing if it was just some filler non-sense episode or something.. but from what I hear, it's the actual ending episode... and it takes so long for the dvd to come out that many will have forgotten what was going on and have to watch all of the season again or at least episode 12 before watching the dvd only release of episode 13. |

The raw file is out. Instead of being the ending of the series, it's a story of Isaki, and Minai's past. I am greatly disappointed by this fact.

Wow, instead of getting an actual conclusion to this we get a filler OVA.....wow, that's....lame. Unless they plan on doing a third season later down on the road or another ova, this is the biggest disappointment of an OVA I''ve seen. Good thing I view it separate from the other seasons ^_^ 6 out of 10 from me, only because it was at least mildly interesting. Probably will rate it a 7 down the road at another time. . .

Anything Shikabane Hime related can't be bad, although it doesn't necessarily mean it's good. So in order to see if this is good or not so good i'll have to watch it. Now that I know that this is not the ending, then I couldn't give this a bad score because of that, since it's not the ending (and it is an OVA). If the episode is awesome, I wouldn't doubt to rate it 8 or 9. The show having no ending has nothing to do with this OVA. Just that we expected it to be the ending. Nevertheless it is a bad thing that it does not have an ending...

I completely forgot about this new ova. Now that I finally remebered it am I really going to be let down again by filler rather than a complete ending? Maybe it's good filler but the quality of it doesn't mitigate the fact that now this series is permanently incomplete. What's worse is that they ended it on a cliffhanger for apparently no reason. The only silver lining in all this that I can see is that the length of time they gave us a false hope of a real ending has blunted and delayed the pain of having to endure a perpetual cliffhanger. Now I need to go adjust aka and kuro's score.

Wow this is a huge let down. I doubt there will be another anime to do with shikabane hime and last i heard the manga was way behind (english subbed at least). I still really liked the series and am looking forward to the ova, but a let down.

I finished the Shiakbane Hime series about 2 weeks ago, and I was hoping this OVA would give it a proper ending. I recently obtained a raw of this and skimmed though it, and everyone else has stated, its a huge disapointment. There is nothing in this OVA to help properly conclude the series. Sure there is the manga, but I have no interest in picking up and reading it at this time. As for the anime overal (seeing how its safe to say its finished, at least for now), I dare say its one of the worst endings i've seen for an anime series. I get the "life goes on..." symbolism and all the director was getting at, but there should be a rule against having a ending thats right in the middle of a battle like that. >> Now if anybody wants to see this/sub this OVA, I could upload it somewhere for all to view. Just let me know.

It's hard to do S.3 by following Manga, because they had too many differences. In the manga Seven stars was just a small faction that serve under devil lord. There are too many powerful beings above them. The objective of Akasha are different as well

I don't know if I want to see this or not due to the ending of the last, but it is for the exact opposite reason as everyone else. It seems everyone was let down by Kuro's ending because there wasn't one....well, not a traditional one. But it did resolve when: She found what she wanted to do regardless of the outcome. That makes closure on it even if all the villains survive. But it sounds like it doesn't conclude from SailorCardKnight, so I might as well. lol. Here is hoping someone ups a subbed version soon.
