I want to hear from you about books you would recommend for Christians to read. These be inspirational, history, fictional, etc.

I have three I would.
The first is called "The Messianic Church Arising" by Dr. Robert Heidler. The first part talks about the history of the Christian church and how paganism was melded into the church that Jesus was intending into what is today's Christian church. The second part is about how to bring that back.

The second is "What If Jesus Had Never Been Born?" by D. James Kennedy. Title says it all.

And Third (and I"m trying to remember the title) "The Brief History of Christianity".
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

The Man Who Got Even with God: The Life of an American Trappist, by M. Raymond.

A kind of hagiography of a vindictive, rash-tempered youth who becomes a saintly monk. It is an excellent read. The author does not exaggerate the life of the monk, nor whitewash it; he shows a genuine person turning from sin to God.

What does the story mean?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question correctly, so excuse my reply if it doesn't answer your question. Well, I guess the story means to say is that we can be really bad sinners, but with God we can turn away from sin and turn to Him.

I'm a huge Philip Yancey fan...here are three of my favorite books that he authored:

The Jesus I Never Knew - This book is explains who Jesus is and can be an eye-opening book for those who don't understand how dynamic he was during his time on earth.

What's So Amazing About Grace - a challenging book about grace, full of great stories and examples illustrating this concept

Prayer - for any people who struggle with prayer (as most of us do), this book examines it from the point of view of one who does struggle

They totally need an MAL for the books of the Bible, though there'd be a lot of re-reads.

Lee Strobel's books are good stuff to read. I also liked Philip Yancey's "What Good is God?"

Nope, any type of book will do, both fiction and non-fiction.

I also recommend "The Five Thousand Year Leap" by W. Cleon Skousen.

I have two books and a series I would like to recommend.

The first book is called "Jesus Freaks" by DC Talk (Christian Band) that put together these accounts and stories if actual Christian Martyrs from the apostles to present which. This is an extremely emotional book and inspirational book that will make you break up at times and make you want to pump your fist in the air yelling go Team God

The Next I would like to recommend it "The Lost Book Series" by Ted Decker which is a really entertaining fictional story with many Christian parrales that deal a lot with Christianity and are very entertaining. It`s the classic hero`s journey type of series with a little romance and tons of action. It`s well worth the read

The Final book is not for every one, but it is called "I Don`t Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist" also a non-fiction book but it talks in extreme depth on the science an physics behind Christianity as well as using the knowledge of our universe and science around us to combat the theories of Jainism and commonly believed science theories.

Apologetics are always good to read even if some material covers familiar ground.

"Crazy Love" by Francis Chan is a good read as well.

I have no problem with that. There's a book that came out last year called "Identity Theif" by Ron Cantor. I got through 4 chapters last night. It's more fictional history than true fiction.

Right now I am reading I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Joshua Harris. It's a wonderful book so far. It talks about how the world teaches dating and how we as followers of Jesus Christ should view it. It's backed with Scripture and really is an amazing read if you want to check it out.

There's a bunch of stuff along those lines. Boundaries in Dating (Cloud and Townsend). Also the Finding the Love of Your Life seminar, which was what Neil Clark Warren was doing before he started doing e-Harmony.

I would recommend : The Hiding place by Corrie Ten boom, based on the true story of her life as a holocaust survivor and her family's love for Christ.
Also, "Redeeming love" is a historical fiction book based on the book of Hosea.

On my Plan to Read for this year:

I'm got the J. Warner Wallace - Cold Case Christianity books, and passing them to friends and family. Doesn't seem to be hard to read.

Then there's Tactics by Gregory Koukl, but that's more for the brainy debates I might find myself in.

Are people still reading books?

A lot of the authors have taken to podcasts or YouTube videos.  Sometimes you watch those and they summarize the main points of their books. Then you can support them by buying their books or if you don't have the funds, borrow the books from the libraries.
