| I love it when series don't explain things that wouldn't need explaining to the characters, although I suppose here Rudo wasn't in on it either. The way Maimo described the energy of the Former Rulers permeating the lower world made it sound like they were dead or had abandoned the world, like either their decaying remnants or things they had left behind. Which then got me thinking that maybe their energy radiates from the Guardian Series, maybe those were the equipment of the Former Rulers, and that in turn had me wondering that when Maimo starts calling them gods that that might not be literal - something like ancient super-technology or aliens. Oh wait, that thing from chapter one when Rudo was falling down is totally one of the Former Rulers isn't it, so at least one of them still exists in the world, but then what are they up to. Also I'm not sure if this comes across in the English translation or not, but the kanji used for Former Ruler are the same as the ones used to refer to the Great Old Ones in Soul Eater. |
