How do you think your life would be if anime, manga, and all that Japanese stuff never existed? Would things be better or worse for you? What would fill that gap—what would you be addicted to instead?

Honestly, I think I’d be a boring dude. I probably wouldn’t be as open-minded or as chill and carefree as I am now. Every day would feel bland, and I’d probably be a lot more depressed. I can’t even imagine what hobby I’d pick up instead, anime and manga have become such a huge part of my life that I don’t really have anything else interesting. Overall, I think it would make the world feel even worse than it already is.

Realistically we wouldn't feel any different because not knowing what you're missing out makes you not want it or wish to have because it doesn't even exist, same way we feel about teleportation as a form of travel, we don't know if it exists or not thus we're indifferent to it.

It wouldn’t affect me much, growing up in the 70’s I watched a lot of HK kung Fu movies which led to samurai movies and anime. But taking out Japanese stuff all together, I probably would have started watching Korean entertainment sooner than I had.

Nothing would've really changed.

Always been EDM first--anime second. I would've also watched more sports programmes and movies.

Yeah I always had this feeling if time travel never existed how boring life would be, I probably wouldn’t be as open-minded or as chill and carefree as I am now. Every day would feel bland, and I’d probably be depressed too. I can’t even imagine life without time travel or what I would do to fill that void in my life if I didn't have it anymore. Time travel has always been such a huge part of my life and I don’t really have anything that interesting in my life that compares to it. Overall, I think it would make my world feel even worse than it already is.

Just like @tchitchouan pointed out, you can't really miss something if you have never experienced it before to begin with. Just like I usually eat food almost on par with gourmet meals compared to the shit an average person consumes each day. But if someone only has ever experienced eating dog shit their entire life, they wouldn't know what a fucking prime cut of wagyu steak would even taste like. lol

My life would be nothing without anime.
It is my only reason for living.
A world without anime would be dark and scary, with no light and only despair.

I would watch other stuff and play more video games.
No, this isn't my signature.

In truth a lot of the entertainment I consume is either popular due to Japan's part in it, or is influenced/inspired by it. In the end, I probably would still like animated shows, games, movies, music, etc, I would just like different ones than I do now, and it probably would be different in style. Or, I'd find something that might be more interesting to me in that world that isn't so much in this one, who knows.

I think that I would turn towards my other interests, like cartoons, games and movies. However, I think I would be worse off without watching and being in the anime fandom. Going to anime conventions consistently has led me to new friends, new experiences, and so many memories I would have never had. I also take a lot of inspiration from anime for my art, so that would also be different as well.

Going by my interests outside of anime:
Guns, high fantasy (Elder Scrolls, Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, etc...), and video games (though only ones from pre-2010s times or indie ones).
