Can never underestimate Lloyd in this show. He and that music is difference maker in this battle.

Kinda interesting how they did the background storytelling with the black and white asethetic. This sets up for the final battle for the finale.

Absolutely incredible man we better get a season 3 after this.

Obviously he did some extremely heinous shit, but after seeing Guitane backstory I really can’t hate him too much. He was such a kind man who did so much for his community and faith, and his reward? Having his family killed by the very community to which he’d ministered. I think most people would question their faith and commitment to the church after that. Being nice does not guarantee others will be nice to you, but as human beings we do tend to expect some kindness back from the world if all we put in it is good.

I really just can’t find it in me to hate the guy, but he obviously could’ve gone about things much better. Men will do anything besides go to therapy lmao

Lloyd listening to his entire backstory and not giving a fuck is so crazy 😭 because bro actually had a solid reasoning for hating the gods, it’s just he allowed his pain to become the pain of others and that’s when it becomes an issue. Overthrowing the country won’t end crime, what he could’ve done is combat the conditions that created someone desperate enough to kill your family for food and use their daughter as a lookout.

That aside, love the focus on Escher and Lloyd’s sister singing as a weapon. I wonder if the angel will give them the ability to use divine magic without singing as well 🤔. Next week finale should be good. If vending machine got a third season, we should too

If this heavenly song is gonna have such an important role, then I prefer it to be a lyrical song, it can even be sold as single!

I hope that pope unleash one last fight, I don't want this to be anti-climax. We all know Lloyd will win but we still demand a big long fighting sequence.

The seventh prince, is he a God? Or is he an innocent devil?

When everyone else was entranced by Escher and Saria's song, that close up of Lloyd before he decapitated those Chimeras...
And then when he completely annihilated Guitane with that death beam at the end...

Our boy Lloyd was lookin' pretty nefarious... lol. Loved it.
Authentic.

Escher's voice provides enough time for Lloyd to take out the chimeras and it seems to also gives Guitane time to tell his really long and winded backstory... he should take his own advice, Shut Up!

Half of the episode was done in powerpoint, and the other half is an attempt to stretch the ending into another final episode. I'm tired.

Lloyd's reaction to his backstory was great lol. While I liked this episode as a whole, I feel there was a bit too many still frames?
Now let's pray for S3 announcement next week...

It was a rookie mistake from him to think of Lloyd as a God, or even a Demon, he is beyond that. Lloyd not giving a fuck about the backstory and complaining about ruining the mood was too funny.

Lloyd said basically: What the hell is aura farming? It is dumb and boring:

The classic: Man believes in God and does good. God abandons man.

Man becomes villain. Villain threatens everyone. Villain is blinded by power.

Someone shows villain the reality. Villain fears for his life because someone isn't god, but rather a freakin' demon!

This has been the most badass Lloyd has been in this show. He doesn't care at all about the competition, unless they smell like magic. In that case, run!

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

First time I’m really truly disappointed with 7th prince…so many still frames, such an unserious final fight that was 99% backstory and humor. And the other half of the episode was a singing montage…also mostly in still shots. Definitely entertaining moments and Lloyd was savage as always, but for the penultimate episode of season 2, named “Battle Above The Clouds,” I was pretty disappointed.

To be honest, the animation was choppy as hell that I'm kinda disappointed. This episode really could've surpassed the season 1 battle if it was actually done right...

Great ep

Singing coming in handy fr.

Sometimes I wonder if the real demon all along was Lloyd, lol.

Clutch save by Lloyd.

I really can't trust Dante, but interesting backstory by Guitane, and I was right to think that they were in a sense related. Great direction tho.

Calm lil fourth wall break with Lloyd not being affected by the antagonist's backstory, haha.

That better not be the end of the fight.

9.5/10

They did not learn a new song… that is unfortunate. I am sad to say, this was the weakest episode of the season imo, the fight against Guitane was very unsatisfying, lots of still frames and Lloyd is a tad bit too unserious, I get he’s usually like that but he locked in for Guisarme in Season 1, he did not here. And yeah I was open to the idea of Saria and Escher performing if it was done right, well it was the same song and it played for way too long, I shared Guitane’s sentiments near the end of the episode, please shut up lol.

Well I really hope Guitane hasn’t been showing his whole hand and they’re saving budget for an epic finale, otherwise this would be a bit of a lame end for him (although I did like his backstory, a shame the part of the episode I probably liked the most got a “meh” reaction from Lloyd lol). However, if this is truly the end of Guitane, then I guess the main threat with him wasn’t his own power, but his multitude of chimera he attacked the city with, so maybe if I look at this arc as a showcase of all the side characters, I like it a bit more, but at the same time it’s a shame they built up this fight between Lloyd and Guitane only for it to turn out like this. Oh well, there’s just one left so let’s see what happens.

Loved the episode. Apparently, everything is going to wrap up in the next one, including the fight between Lloyd and Guitane. I know Lloyd don't care about anything but magic, but come on, let us hear Guitane’s backstory. You might not care, but we, the audience, do.

Like, it don't have to be fighting 24/7, my dude. Chill. Goodness gracious. So, Guitane was apparently a man of god, until he turned against him after his wife and kid weren’t protected from a starving murderer who broke in, killed them, and ate their food. Honestly, it's completely understandable.

Of course, I ain't condoning violence, since I’m a man of god myself, but even though I’m 100% sure Lloyd is going to win thanks to his overpowering plot armor, I’m still with Guitane on this one. You’re probably going to lose, brother, but go out in a blaze of glory! Plot armor or not, my faith’s in you!

Today's episode was kinda boring, like the entire season so far. A part of the episode was listening to Escher sing (I starting to understand why Guitane is annoyed). The fight was like watching an episode of blue lock. A powerpoint presentation with some flashy effects to keep the audience watching.

I hope the next episode be more interesting than this one, the bar isn't to high tbh

It took 4 episodes just to get to this point and for what? a boring fight scene between Loyd and the villain? Give me a break. Too much nonsense going on, too many flashbacks and other whatnot. First season was really good but this? Nuh uh.. I'm not impressed, only disappointment.

@TheColonel76 In the manga, Escher actually added lyrics to the song this time but not sure if the anime will show it anymore though.

Wow, so the entire concept of this season was built upon a man who resented God and his religion because a random dude stormed into his house for some food. It might have been understandable if the intruder was a cannibal going unpunished for satisfying his most primitive urge against hunger, but no, he was just there gulping down mere groceries to death due to the impact of long-term starvation, but somehow a homicide was still needed when the house residents could have easily stepped aside for the desperado to do whatever he wanted. Lmao with this anime cheap drama logic.

Looks like the villain had a rough backstory. I am surprised the Mc never said much about his status as a reincarnation given the topic of god is brought up. Very solid episode. The music during the fight reminds me of Re Zero s3.

Escher needs to shut the hell up. NAnananalalalala is not freaking singing. good lord, this episode was such a nothing burger. my disappointment is vast.

the fight was... decent?

The monologue by guitane was... stupid. We already got most of his back story before. Why waste a chunk of episode replaying it.

Ngl, didn't vibe with this episode's presentation as much, the animation seemed to take a dive in many regards. As a result, the overall delivery felt somewhat flat, I love Guitane but they did him so dirty, I did like how much more oppressive his assault was on Lloyd compared to the manga, but again, the animation was not great, have a lot of mixed-feelings about that.

Also, Escher's voice just doesn't come close to the manga's and yes, I know manga has no sound, but with how much importance they give to it, they should've put all their game on making sure it was top-notch, they really should've put lyrics on that final performance if any, also not sure with the overall direction, at times it feels like they didn't quite get the direction of the manga (or maybe that's on me?).

Other criticism is that the Ten Commandments suddenly have the same design from each other, lame, also, that whole scene fell flat as well due to some changes, they did my girl Katarina dirty as well. Also, that Shadow-Wolf Slash was lame AF, sure, it's incredibly cool to see the manga panels fall in the actual manga, but in the anime, they could've used a different, more effective effect, they just used a more apt one just an episode before, that broken glass effect would've been much better!

The flashback was fine, as with Guisarme's intro, it was a tad long due to how much anime stretches dialogue compared to manga, the animation was unique, I liked it, but I still found it to be lesser than the manga. I keep realizing how much heavy-lifting the imagination does when reading manga.

It's disappointing to see such an important episode done so dirty, still, I do like the adaptation some, but the manga is just superior in almost every way, if anyone wants to see this fight done justice, as well as the whole arc and manga, go give the manga a whirl, it's worth it!
