| As a kid, i remember mostly not thinking Yugioh and Pokemon were anything different than a typical action type cartoon like Static Shock or Teen Titans i saw at the time That's also what i associated them with, DBZ and all the others i just assumed they were like those action cartoons. Then i saw people getting killed and cut up and then i started thinking it was something special and different I also really loved how they actually had continuity and told continuous stories rather then being episodic |

| Initially it was a coherent story instead of disconnected episodic entertainment. But as I delved further and further into anime, I discovered so many new things I never knew could be shown in animated media - gore, ecchi, psychological warfare, etc. |

| Story continuity in Anime rather than separate episodes with maybe occasional references to past ones with cartoons. Also ecchi themes, stuff like pantyshots especially, either used in a titillating way or just an everyday way as part of the clothing. These were a big reason why I even started watching anime and I very rarely see stuff like that in any kind of media besides adult stuff. |
