a game, a movie, a show, etc. Is there a point where it can be too much?

Let's take horror movies. Some movies in the horror genre are so grotesque and gory that the MPAA gives them a rating of "X", not R, but X. Forciing cuts.

The most controversial game Rockstar has ever produced, which is saying a lot, is easily Manhunt 2 (the first one semi counts but 2 is definitely the biggest one). Manhunt 2 was completely censored on many of it's releases and i don't think it's even available anymore

What if it depicts a crime and glorifies it as something positive?

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

My default answer to something going way too far is the movie Cuties for obvious reasons.

Take some of the cheesy erotica movies from the 80's as well, many of the characters are in high school, sure the actors are always over 18 but still. How often do you see these characters with a teacher or an adult woman? It's pretty common but also just accepted

Probably, but it almost never happens, unfortunately.

Only in a meta-narrative sense. For example, during the production of the Twilight Zone movie, the actor John Landis, Renee Shin-Yi Chen and Myca Dinh Le were all killed during filming when a faulty helicopter crashed right on top of them. Director John Landis was primarily at fault here, rushing the child actors into their roles with behind-the-scenes payouts, and ignoring obvious signs the vehicle wasn't operating at full capacity (e.g. strange shaking during flight).

The 1936 film, The Charge of the Light Brigade, also resulted in the wanton injury and subsequent euthanisation of 25 horses that fell over tripwires on set. Animal abuse in film-making is common, as animals are often seen as expendable, and rarely treated with the same legal protections on a national level as humans are in this context.

As long as everything is above board during production though, I have little qualms about the events or themes any given story contends with. Creative freedom in that regard is something that should be treasured; it allows the viewer to contemplate specific, often nuanced scenarios that reality would rarely give them a chance to at all, let alone in a collected state of mind where they could make impartial observations about them.

I played a lot of eroge, and my answer is no. If a piece of media is going too far that means you should consume something else. There are some tags I do not engage with, but they are for those looking for it.

I can see an exception for real life propaganda so I guess yeah it is possible. Not saying I think being off the bar should always lead to bans. It varies by case.

As long as someone isn't being hurt or abused, then no.

Films such as Cannibal Holocaust, A Serbian Film, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Last House on Dead End Street, games such as Manhunt 2 and Hatred, and tv shows such as Kodomo no Jikan or Heil Honey I'm Home! are all things that push the limits of their mediums and I think are all okay.

What if it depicts a crime and glorifies it as something positive?

There are a TON of games, tv shows, and movies this can apply to. From GTA to so many mob films, just to start.

A lot of them do, and it's usually just for the sake of shock value in hopes that it gets more people talking about the media they are trying to promote. Then again some forms of media become controversial just because everyone's offended by everything these days as well.
