This feels like a very generic show with good animation.

Same as Demon Slayer which is generic with awesome animation too, in fact, the animation in Demon Slayer is even better, but overall that anime loses points from me because the comedy is shit.

At least in Solo Leveling I don't have to deal with shit comedy or shitty characters like that ear raping mofo Zenitsu which I hate so I'm enjoying Solo Leveing more, and yeah, having awesome animation is the thing both of these animes do great and it's their selling point.

The characters and story in Solo Leveling are like a 7.5/10, which is decent but not good enough to go crazy either, and the animation is a 9.5/10 but fuck it, I will rate this anime a 10/10 because I'm enjoying it a lot and I rate my animes based on my enjoyment.

Idk what is happening why now this anime has so much hate? I thought literally every single soul liked it, I remember people saying “Hey you know that a Korean manga is going to get adapted into an anime? Is literally one of the bests out there, the ending is not good but the main story is peak”

I remember this perfectly, and not only just one or two people told me so. It was strange, it seemed like there was “Solo Leveling” even in my soup. Then the anime starts and everyone goes crazy with it, me included. (I thought “Hey this not sounds too bad I’ll give it a try”) and then liked it.

I remember feeling refreshed, like finally something is different, finally there’s is a anime with good animation and good story. But, it is true that maybe the story is a little bit slow. I haven’t saw the manwa or manga, but I’m waiting for each episode to finally connect all the points and answer questions like “what the hell is the System?” “Why Sung Jin woo was chooses to be a Player” “Why the monsters (that should be just that, monsters) can think and have conscience?”

The thing is a have seen a lot, and when I say a lot IS a lot of crappy and not crappy Isekai anime (not that I like to hear over and over the same story) but I know when an anime is going to be so bad that you drop it in the 1st episode. Normally and the generic isekai can be divided into 3 things”

1. The MC without explanation is TP’d into another world (with or without OP powers)

2. The MC has, without any sense, infinite rizz aka claims waifus like he is grabbing store groceries

3. The MC suffers something, anything, like being thrown out of his party, being accused of something, in general being tormented with something that is bad. Then with a meh or bad argument he goes out of it and is the stronger one

Idk if I’m missing something (probably yeah) but that is the magic formula for generic isekai anime.

Now, it is true that at least Sung Jin woo has the 2nd one. That could be debatable, with one side saying that it is stupid and the other side saying that the system makes him the best version of him. (or smth like that)

I don’t think that the story is going in a bad path, I just think they need to cook more. Idk how many volumes the manga has, or where in the story we are (in the anime) but I think there’s a lot unexplained, a lot that NEEDS to be explained in order to not seem like conveniences.

I will just let them cook, if the story ends being absolute trash I’ll say it. But right now, well at least is a watchable anime that you can see in your free time and get entertained.

Solo Leveling is a great example of how important execution is in media, something that would otherwise be generic and boring can be turned into something worthwhile and entertaining with a good execution.

And that’s why the show is good. Every new popular show doesn’t have to be an armchair philosophical smoke session debating the meaning of life. It’s good dumb fun that looks visually good. You enjoy the anime because it isn’t that serious and you enjoy it because there really aren’t any stakes. People enjoy it because it’s fun. That’s really it.

look if you don't like the show, that's fine. And if you like the show, that's fine too.
But people making topics like this every day is starting to become even more "generic" lmao.
And even then, if a show is a little genetic, personally I don't see that much of a problem, it's a fun watch, a lot of people like a show based on how much they enjoy it, not based on how unique it is.
Arguing over faves feels also kinda weird and overall seems like an insufferable elitism contest on "how can I make it so I can be different from everyone else".
