Loli asks "why people want to save Kirari" and her own answer is:

How does that even make sense?

Besides, how does graduation work in Hyakkaou Academy? If you think like a normal school - which it isn't - wasn't it supposed to be only one valedictorian per year? There are, at least, 122 graduates and the oldest one, even by over stretching, isn't older than 50 (personally I think she is in her early 30s at most). Or that "ranking" means something else?

Finally caught up to this manga.

Re: valedictorian status. I think it's mentioned earlier in the chapter (or in 110) that that some of these "valedictorians" have inherited their status. So if that's the case, then we could surmise that some of those aren't the original valedictorians but rather the people who inherited that from a predecessor. i.e: the "first valedictorian" isn't the original one but rather someone who inherited their name (and status) over multiple generations.

Who knows though. It's Kakegurui, I don't think this is a manga that takes itself too seriously. I like the games and the larger than life characters who always seem to find a way to up the ante.

@atroxeus Despite agreeing with you that we shouldn't take Kakegurui seriously, I personally think the writing in this arc has been subpar. But since you caught up you probably have fresh eyes, what say you about this arc so far, compared to previous arcs?

IMO, it's definitely more game-y this time around. The premise feels a bit nonsensical and it does seem like the author wants to do "Student Council Election 2: Electric Boogaloo" with the Guardians. That said, I did like the backstory chapters just before this one so I'm going to hold my judgment until this arc develops on its own. Really hoping that the author won't make it just a repeat of what's already been done.

The thing with Runa was adressed by Kaede in chapter 110 where he asks her why she didn't refuse if she's neutral and she give a non-answer like "it's just my kind of neutrality." After that Kaede gives it up, saying that he just can't read her. We just have to accept that this somehow is her reason, but she wont tell us why it makes sense to her.

I also stumbled over the valedictorians age, but then I remembered that most of them probably inherited it. Yes there's only one valedictorian per year, their titled tell us that because they're numbered according to years.
