I did not think the first season was honestly that impressive, very exposition heavy and the power system came in late, but I am still going to check out season 2. What about you guys?

Honestly the first season had a slow start but once they started explaining about the Island and Tensen I liked it more and more.
Enjoyed it regardless and looking forward to the second season, Although in a few episodes the art or animation was a bit lacklustre but the story stood out to me the most in this one.

The quick adaptation all the fighters to fight against Tao is kind of weird, but I'll roll with it!

If they stick anywhere near the manga as they did during part 1, it's gonna be a wild ride! I'm gonna enjoy it!

I´m one of the few who actually thought the anime was good and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I loved the colouring and the characters.

If the animation improves I'll probably watch it, the story is decent but the power system is not that good but still better than other similar series

i enjoyed more reading the manga but im still gonna watch this poor anime adaptation for the colors alone

they adapted like 40+ chapters so far out of 120+ chapters so my guess is there will still be 2 cours worth of anime sequels for this

To be very honest, I quite liked the first season, even if Mappa killed the quality of the show quickly. I hope they do a better job on the second season, because I really wanna know more and see what happens in the future.

What ego are you talking about? I'm genuinely giving a good advice - consume the best stuff, watching literally everything means you have way too much free time and your life is probably a mess just like mine.
Why am I not allowed to have an opinion on quality of stuff btw? Taste is subjective and I have no idea why you are reacting so aggressively to people having different opinions.
so something productive is still watching anime but just a good one? lmao you are still "wasting" your free time. your comment simply pissed me off cuz with the way you worded it, what I understood is you shitting on people that consume media instead of doing something productive (which is work, gym, self improvement etc but you cand do that 24/7 since its draining).
but it seems your intention is different, and I agree, hells paradise is a mediocre anime(since it stopped before it got pretty good) and in general ppl should not watch all the shit just cuz its new. I wasnt aggressive for your opinion, since its obv subjective, again it just pissed me off the way you worded it

My big thing is when the power system was introduced, it felt so goofy. Why do they all magically just start learning and using Tao without any real valid explanation as to how to use it properly. Yes the Tenzen that was killed explains how to use it to the others, but the fact they all magically get better at using Tao just by the mention of it made me not enjoy it all that much. Comparing it to the other two stories in the Dark Trio, which I'm fully caught up with manga and anime wise, I felt like they both were able to explain what was happening, why it was happening, and how things are going to turn out in a lot better fashion then Hell's Paradise has done so far. To be completely fair, I haven't read Hell's Paradise and it genuinely wouldn't surprise me if the manga is far better, as that's how things tend to be in the anime world sadly, but watching the anime has quite literally given me zero reason to read it. CSM and JJK had far better first seasons, hoping things get turned out for me personally in S2 of Hell's Paradise but I have very low expectations after what I've just explained. (Forgot to mention that I really hated how all the characters we were introduced to at the very start instantly died. I understand it's to show how powerful and scary everything is on the island but that could have done in a much better and more efficient manner rather than introducing cool and interesting characters just to kill them off instantly).

But Hell's Paradise is the best title this year: a decent attempt (for an anime) at tackling philosophy and religion, gray'ish characters aside from Nurugai and Mei, quality art and animation, even The Island of Doctor Moreau setting is quite refreshing.

I'm sorry, I have a bad habit of writing shit online when I feel down. Should have learnt my lessons already, I literally repeated the same year 6 times, total madness. I don't even think Jigokuraku is that bad, it's just underdeveloped at a lot of aspects.

Decent potential, but gray'ish characters appear and die within 3 episodes; animation and style itself is simplistic, but compared to Katanagatari's use of creativity, for example, it seems lacking, at least for me; themes in itself are deep, but once again underdeveloped, probably to fit battle shounen genre, but still. Also, I think Vinland Saga S2 is most likely the best anime of the year so far, I'm judging solely by what I heard of it and its synopsis, haven't seen it myself yet.

(Sorry for lacking grammar, haven't studied english in ages)

Welp, that's the problem of so many series these days: a good setup and some fresh ideas, but then the authors don't quite know how to develop and fit them together (like the trainwreck of Wonder Egg Priority.)

Jigokuraku's mangaka seems to be enchanted with Taoism, but I'd say he missed a huge opportunity to create parallels between Gabimaru and the assassin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angulimala from the Buddhist Pali Canon. Still, the part when Senta dies is so well-done and goes along the Buddhist practice of preparing and letting go at the moment of death. Characters progressing by accepting their weaknesses may be not super original, but Jigokuraku does it differently from other shonens.

I think those are the little things that make this anime worth watching despite the pacing flaws.

I'm gonna watch it but not expect too much of it. Though I hope it'll still be more interesting than S1.

S1 dragged a bit tbh. I found it hard to care about some characters and their backstories. The new guy from the cliffhanger looks cool though. Maybe he'll bring some fresh air into this

I agree on the disappointment part. I was really hyped for this because the trailer looked so cool and the story about criminals competing sounded super exciting. Yet in the end we got something just slightly above average imo.

As I said in the other thread, anime, like the manga, was visually stunning with an interesting cast, but the story doesn't engage me enough to rate it very high. If the new series comes out fairly quickly then I'll watch it when it drops. However, if it takes another year for the second series then I think I'll just wait until the whole manga is adapted before watching. It's a fairly short series so I think another two 12 episode series might cover it.

Yep, I'm serious, I liked this anime a lot. My #1 is Golden Kamuy, but the 4th season stopped abruptly this year, so I enjoyed Hell's Paradise meanwhile.

Hell's paradise is already a lot if it is a sufficient product, for sure, you see few anime, if you say such a thing
