wow, what a journey this was. ngl after seeing the title and beginning, it reminded me a whole lot of another similar story (My Boyfriend in Orange) that involved an age gap romance between a jk and someone in the special fields

what I did not expect though, was a pretty thought provoking at times (the last arc in particular) and a story filled with different kinds of parental abuse. ngl I didn't even expect the side characters to have as much focus as they ended up having, particularly Ookami-kun

Speaking of Ookami though, I think he's honestly one of the best 2nd ML's out there. while yes it would've been nice if there wasn't a love triangle in the first place, I really did like how not only did ookami respect Kako's decisions/choices and didn't force her into uncomfortable situations, but also how he actually has his own proper story and development and is not just there to spur on the main couple, something you really don't see all that often.

The romance itself was also something I was very surprised with too, mainly because 1.) age gap romance with hs student and 2.) ML is literally a law abiding cop. For sure thought that most of the series was just gonna be Kako trying to progress but Kota stopping any advances "in the name of the law" or something. So it was definitely really amazing to see that they were slowly able to go from flirting to hugging to even kissing. Also surprised that the side characters romances' had some development though tbf there wasn't really any romantic development on that front after the Jiro arc

But I think the main talking point is definitely the final arc, because imo it's a really interesting take on the whole murder situation. Like each character's reasonings made sense as to why they behaved the way they did (except maybe Kako at times), and the drama honestly just felt like a shitty coincidence where no one is particularly in the wrong.

a surprising 9/10 that's for sure
