True, it reminded me a lot of Ideon and Dunbine. This is a beautiful film with a great ending, don't miss it. |

| Just finished this as it was recently added to Crunchyroll. Fuck's sake this was depressing, but damned if I don't love a good ballsy sad ending. I definitely see the Tomino resemblance. Honestly in many ways this reminds me of Ideon - but I believe Ideon came first? Not sure about the timelines here. Enjoyed this one very much. I think I'll look into buying the BD - it's one of those shows that aged, but can still be enjoyed and can still have an impact. Lots of flaws, but given the accomplishments, I'm willing to forgive them. |
| I reccomend everyone watch the original TV series, this movie does not do it justice. They basically started off trying to recap it then just mashed random anime clips together to create a whole new story. The movie doesn't capture the true melancholy somber vibe as the 34 episode builds up. The way it captures the downwards spiral of Marins new life and the eventual desperation of humanity is amazing. ---- I honestly dont like the movie that much considering they don't treat it as a direct continuation of the series, But instead make it a new story by mashing scenes and changing the ending of the anime and the character's personalities. But i guess im glad we got this instead of nothing we also got some really good music from it and more hair down aphrodia scenes. i really hope the movie can act as a gateway to get more people to watch the anime, its not one i'll forget anytime soon being marin truly is suffering.... |
