| The plot twist harkens back to how he loses things he loves, and he doesn't realize it until after it's gone. It's a metaphor. You don't know what you have until it's gone. And he should've realized it... She was the one that cheered him up as a kid, and she's the one who gave him the motivation to finish his book. Yet he threw her away, and then missed her when she was gone. |
