To be honest, I was thinking the same thing as they kept mentioning that Miko Mido was a virgin but I think it could be two things: 1. Rape != Virginity Loss 2. Sex with monsters (either consensual or not) != Human virginity loss I think the latter is the logic they went with so that she could have her virginity intact. Unless I missed somewhere that somehow she had some ninja protection magic that despite being penetrated she won't lose her virginity. Besides that, I really hate how abrupt this ended and how it took a sudden turn to vanilla (I expected this to be honest, but not how they did it), but given the time this released I guess it was either going to be a vanilla ending or bad ending. I'd prefer the vanilla ending. Still, maybe its because this came out in early 2000s, compared to the first set of OVAs, I feel like the overall wackiness was turned down a bit. I don't know what else to say, but feel that after EX, Returns didn't do much to save the series for me. It sucks, this seemed promising from the first set of OVAs. |

| I still come back to this finale years after watching it in my teens and think about how it ended. I can't quite understand why it ended so abruptly or it was a production issue since the series looks almost like a testing ground for their new digital look: everything and everyone looks very shiny and some of the cgi stand out but regardless it's a decent finale. Going by the inherent logic of Toshio Maeda's stories of the inherent inner and outer conflict of the violence of puberty and one's sexuality. |
