Hey guys, thanks for reading this!

Recently I haven't been feeling good, I'm often sad and not as happy as I used
to be. Is there maybe an anime that can help lift my spirits? Something fun, kind,
lighthearted and sweet.

Any ideas?

Mushishi is the calmest thing I've seen fairly light some episode have action but doesn't spoil the atmosphere.

Dog Days will fit for you.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

Working!! might help.

You can also try Danshi Kokousei no Nichijou. It's a comedy slice-of-life.

Kimi ni Todoke. Fun, kind, lighthearted and sweet pretty much sums up the series brilliantly. Watch both seasons, 37 episodes, and you should get some laughs while watching a nice slice of life/romance that will lift your spirits. It's similar to Toradora and Lovely Complex that you've watched.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is another one that will fall right in line with the characterizations above. It's brief and the conclussion airs next week.

I definitely second My Little Monster, it has humor and a sweet romance. I would also suggest Binbougami Ga! Full disclosure though, I have not seen the entire series. But based on the strength of the first episode I am confindent that the show has more than enough comedy to get you through your melancholy.

I hope things work out for the best!
Let this be our little secret, no needs to know we're feeling HIGHER AND HIGHER AND HIGHER!

Agreeing on that.

Other things..

I guess you could watch K-On or maybe Minami-Ke.

For me, Kimi to Boku always manages to cheer me up and make me laugh. Give it a couple of episodes to get going before you drop it (although nothing ever really happens, the group dynamic changes quite a bit with the introduction of Chizuru and helps to balance out the show).

Also Natsume Yuujinchou (surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet!) and Tsuritama.

Danshi Koukousei No Nichijou is perfect for you. It'll give you the smile !
Then you should try Hana Saku Iroha. It depicts the life lived by a hostel employee, with a sweet atmosphere around. And the chara design is such a delight for the eyes.
I'd also suggest MM!. Very funny.

okay okay, those tend to have bitter sweet endings.

Watch Fairy Tail, it's a pretty happy series and has a lot of funny moments.

Gotta say either Toradora, Higurashi Kai (gonna need a pick-me-up after season 1....), or Gurren Lagann.
