| Personally,I go with Layla.She left me with a smile,since she rebelled against the wishes of everyone,including her own,simply because she didn't want to leave the stage. Her determination served as a concrete bonus,and May's light pales when you put her next to Layla;the phoenix can't be outmached by the demon. |

| Not any votes for poor May. Anyway, two rather handful females of the show. The ice cold professional and the cocky rival, or at least how they start out. Some don't like how May stands up against Sora, but it's not like she's all air. After the first season, Sora had kind of lost her brilliance after Layla's retirement. May had an important role to make her push herself to the limits as well as question her ideals of avoiding conflict. She might have been spiteful at the beginning, but definitely gets better later. Plus May barking and trying to act nice is such a killer. Layla however, is the better character. I'm not sure how I'd describe her relationship to Sora. Mentor? Rival? Friend? Maybe she didn't even know herself and I believe something like that was mentioned in the show. Plus I think she is actually kind of clumsy at expressing herself to others and her personal life was kind of empty. I mean, there were only her maid, her training partner Yuri and the father who was never there. Sora definitely sparked something inside her, and they kind of fulfill each other. And the times when she finally smiled, I smiled too. |

| I didn't actually expect this much of a landslide :/ Anyway, it's time to state my own opinion. As much as I initially hated May, I actually liked her later on. I think she was more of a rival than Layla. She was of course very talented and a nice addition to the cast. But of course my vote has to go for Layla. She was also a bitch at the beginning, but later she was such a nice partner and friend to Sora. I was really sad when she had to leave. I especially liked her OVA, we got to know so much more about her. My only problems with Layla were that I didn't really like how Layla wanted to steal the main character in Swan Lake from Sora. Even if that was half-evil, half-good (to make Sora a true angel) I really disliked her at that part, it wasn't that necessary imo. The other thing was......why did she have to cut her hair, she was so much better with the long hair :/ |
