| ok the real reason im posting this is that it's come to my attention that there are some great things with mainstream anime's: production value animation quality voice acting quality well written and scrutinized story lines really i think the most redeeming quality to almost any fictional work is the examination of our humanity and the exploration of character growth. this being said many main stream anime's simply by being made for the majority have that quality. don't get me wrong there are plenty of mainstream anime's that are just about comedy or a badass character, but what really touches our hearts is when we meet characters watch them grow and understand the world through a new light and maybe find love in the process. thats the reason i liked series like FMA so much. of course with the mainstream comes setbacks, story cuts or rewrites, filler episodes to prolong the life of a series, im looking at you bleach and inuyasha, and of course the idea that more is more and not really less, im referring to those series that have a good story but want to squeeze every genre in to appeal to every anime fan. so of course this is why off beat anime's can really blow us away even if they last only 26 episodes they are usually free from the pressures of making a mainstream anime. what are your thoughts about the redeeming qualities of mainstream and non-mainstream anime's and what are some of your favorite of both and why? |

| honestly most of the mainstream anime are actually good, its just bleach thats the really bad one, naruto has its moments and i hear one peice is superb, and other mainstream shows like durarara, clannad, (first season of) code geass, exc all deserve the love they get honestly |

| The only redeeming quality of most mainstream shows (in my opinion) is that they serve as an introduction to anime for many people. Without mainstream anime like DBZ I probably would have never gotten into anime myself. |
