| I teared up this chapter. When Remington almost killed Chrno to get her out the intensity in the scene peaked. But Rosette's speech is what did it for me. Chrno blames himself for everything, but Rosette wouldn't change a thing. "So, if you're going to refuse to come out it better not be for my sake. Remember the good times. Let's bare the pain and sadness together, Magdalene's too." To paraphrase. It was a real believable way to get him out of his coma thing. As Chrno said, he started the contract to watch her back but now the tables have turned. I thought the entire Magdalene death scene was interesting. The way no words were depicted the entire time, only images made it much more impactful. Shader giving Chrno the astral necklace somberly since his horns were stolen shows why I like the villains in this so much. She liked Magdalene, they all did, and she really likes Chrno. She doesn't want to see them go, but she's willing to do it for her dream of freedom. They're conflicted, and not black and white. Even Aion shows so many emotions. They may not be incredibly complex, but they're complex enough to feel human. Now it's time to catch up with Stella I presume. Rosette is nearly on the same page as Chrno, as is the reader. We're getting somewhere. |
