After finishing the season, does anyone else feel like the animation quality has dropped significantly since the previous seasons? Scenes feel extremely shallow and uninteresting, and the only movement you see are the mouths moving up and down. Even basic animations feel very stiff (Chizuru’s running in ep 12 etc.)

I feel like the studio poured most of their budget into the opening and left us with bare bones for the rest of the season. The one factor that made me watch this garbage show was the artstyle which I think is lacking now.

I see your point, but I don’t think the drop is that extreme. Some scenes do feel stiff, but the expressions and overall art style are still there, just less polished at times. I agree that the opening is definitely higher quality, which maybe can make the rest look weaker by comparison. For me, it didn’t ruin the story, just made it less visually engaging

Oh yea definitely I dunno if they were stretching the budget for 2 cours or the staff just didn’t care but there was a noticeable dip between S3 - S4 despite what some die hard fans say

Glad that I'm not the only one feeling this. I even have a screenshot of where character's face looked inconsistent.

Every single episode in this season was outsourced. The second episode in particular had a "gross" outsource credit to THREE different studios (Maruga Factory, Hebaragi and ECHO)

It's normal for almost all anime sequels to have a drop in animation quality.
Toradora is the most overrated anime ever

They put all of the budget into that opening animation.

Seriously though; it seems that they really don't have much of a reason to improve, or keep up, any form of quality animation. The shows been getting bombed constantly by people who dislike the main character, Kazuya, and how.. well.. pathetic he is. I've recently caught up in the manga and I feel that the story is finally hitting its final arc and it, hopefully, will be a good story. I may be the only one thinking that though.

To answer your question directly; yeah.. the animation quality has dropped however the story for Season 4 was dragged for no reason and the animation team, most likely, didn't want to put all their energy into something that would have to be topped by the next season.

When i was watching the flashbacks, i realize the drawing/artstyle of the first seasons is better than this. It's fine that i'm not the only one who noticed
