Naruto Creator Finally Confirms Who's 'Fully in Charge' of Official Sequel Series

The revelation came during an interview conducted at the "KONOHA EXPERIENCE" event in Paris, France, held by publisher Kana in August 2024. The full discussion with Kishimoto and Ikemoto was later published on the official Naruto website on July 17, 2025, where Kishimoto detailed the shift in workflow from Naruto to its sequel. He confirmed that when it came to Boruto, Ikemoto was the one truly in charge. "For Naruto, I was in charge of both the story and the main illustrations while Ikemoto helped. For Boruto, Ikemoto is completely in charge of the story and main illustrations. It really is Ikemoto's manga."

well that's disappointment, but the writing really seemed off it it were Kishimoto's.

I remember watching a video about this last year and I was surprised that Kishimoto is currently supervising his own work, but I like things as they are and I think Ikemoto's writing is good enough, the illustrations are also beautiful, especially the characters' clothes, I hope the Anime comes back soon!

@KluchAa maybe meant original creator heck there is "supervisor" role anyway so that implies he is not the main writer

i personally don't get surprised by this news even though his writing to an extent matches kisimoto's. It is fundamentally different -the strongest point of Naruto is the weakest point of Boruto i.e stories and empahis on side characters ,this show has nothing beside kawaki and Boruto. The power scale to this point is so absurd that besides them no one doesn't even stand a chance against the villains, making the whole show almost always revovle around them on the contrary Naruto side characters stories are so good that people say you can make a different anime about them and it is absolutely true. Though I by no means saying current Boruto story(manga) is not good it's just not same as Naruto and seeing the power scale I don't know how they will introduce side characters impactufully.
