Shit! I don't know why it didn't click earlier from a few chapters ago, but Kaya's "split personality" is the "reincarnation" of the first legendary Priestess! Fascinating.

An incredible amount of insight several of mysteries finally gets revealed!

The tradition of the Ebisumori family is ultimately to reincarnate their great blessed (by the gods) ancestor Priestess of prosperity,
because after her death, in some time, they did not receive her blessings anymore.

The tradition of the Ebisumori is to have the eldest daughter, become the vessel to reincarnate the Priestess and continue her blessings.
The men, to make branch families, solely to gather believers.
... The younger sister(s), to birth curses.
As in, human spectres, like Kaya. Powerful mediums, or a dying spectre from miscarriage that can kill whoever the mother wishes in her time of death.
The curse of the leech child.
In technicality, the longer an unborn child stays in the cursed womb, the more powerful as a spectre it becomes, but if it stays too long, it "miscarries" without a body that explodes all of its power, while taking away the mother's life.

Just like Mirai and Nana's aunt, Yoshie. Their mother, Mutsu's little sister.
Who is titled as a Womb-sama. Great Ms. Womb (I guess).

... As the eldest daughter, Nana was aware of this, but little Mirai wasn't.
Thus, it seems she built a hatred for the Ebisumori family, including her mother, because her aunt Yoshie was far more like a mother than her own ever was.
Yoshie was the unknown sibling in the picture of little Nana and Mirai, in their mother's home when Kaya first visited her.

All of my theories about that were wrong, lol.
I think when Granny Mutsu freaked out on Kaya was directed at the reincarnated Priestess, because the Priestess reincarnates in all of the daughters.

Meanwhile, Mirai's new baby is born.
Kaya's little sister. More powerful than her as a spectre. And also the Priestess, I guess.

... Wait. Did Mirai expand the leech child curse (killing her mother) without dying and still birthing the child?!
