Look the plot is cool & all but for me the main selling point of Dr. Stone is the step by step science aspect. It was unique & refreshing to watch. That's what made season 1 great. I get it tbh if they showed all the steps of making the thing then this show will drag on forever & will lose a lot of audience but still I wish they balance it a little. Make room for more science.
I do not understand this criticism. You say, you get it that if they show you all of the steps of making things, the show would drag on… but you have to remember our own human civilization and our connection to the technology we make. What took humans 50,000 years of studying science, Senku did in one season. As for the last 2 season, it took humans only 200 years and majority of it just stacking what they invented already on top of what they made only 2 years ago in their time.
When Senku breaks down the steps there is always an ingredient or a device that took senku and the group 5 episodes or more episodes just to do, just like how our own existence took us 50,000 years and now it’s readily quick and easy. I empathize with peoples criticism only if I reverse the science with adventure… 1000’s of years ago there were unknowns and a sense of adventure but nowadays we have GPS… radars… YouTube videos… people already done those things and so adventuring today isn’t what it used to be… take that an apply that to DrStone, where they are at in the story their science is so good that all they need is rare materials just to create inventions that’ll help them in their journey… the science is mostly all done.
In conclusion, Dr. stone is a battle shonen at its core… always have been, and science is just a power system. With individual people having absurd abilities to go superhuman in their particular craft. Tsukasa can break a lions neck, senku has perfect memory, Gen’s mentalists abilities is completely out of whack… etc… Kaseki can build ANYTHING with inhuman speed. It’s a battle shonen…
Don’t get me wrong I’m still enjoying this series so far but I kinda enjoyed the first season a lot more for this reason. & I get it it’s a battle shounen so suspension of disbelief is a given.
