That was a fantastic conclusion. I enjoy series that are based on true events. This show caught my attention since it depicts these events from a different perspective. I wonder if Megumi Sunahara is still alive, but I doubt it. He would turn 90 years old this year xx if he were still alive. Also what a beautiful ending song.

Seemed like he had Stockholm Syndrome over China, but who could blame him.
Shame we never found out about his Sisters, i was expecting a reunion of sorts.
At least we got an ending instead of drawing it out.
We found out what we all knew, the Japanese were pretty Evil in the War period, 1940s.

What a touching story and satisfying ending.

Zhang is sent to an airbase in Mudanjing where he re-learns Japanese by the instructors and personnel on base. They planned for him to reacclimatize to Japanese linguistics for his return to Japan post Korean War. The lore behind that airbase says that captured Japanese pilots decided to teach the Chinese Liberation Army how to pilot aircraft and it went on to being the first aviation school in China post war.

Zhang now Megumi returns to his life in Japan despite his efforts to stay true to New China. Episode was executed well and conclusion was just as satisfying. Truly a hidden gem, I won't mention the political side or state propaganda behind this series though for obvious reasons.

Anybody know what happened to his sisters after he returned to Japan? The lack of an explanation is confusing since surely, he would've brought the whole family back.
