| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Kyūkyoku tai shikō, Gyōza no haru - "Ultimate VS Supreme: The Spring of Gyoza" My goodness, do I want gyoza right now... So after a string of average episodes, we're going back to the Ultimate/Supreme menu competition. The episode starts off seemingly with a side quest involving Kurita's acquaintance, Morisawa Yoshiko and her "acquaintance" Yamawaki Tsutomu. Yamawaki owns a successful gyoza chain but is worried about the future, given other fast food restaurants and, in particular, the variety of gyoza available from competitors like Ipponyari. Although he wants to honor the recipe of his deceased wife, Oharu (after whom he named the business), he acknowledges he needs a more standout product. This nicely segues to: Kaibara versus Yamaoka! I liked briefly seeing Kurita's home life, with her grandmother hounding about her garlic breath. |
