Well, i guess this makes Sumire the only member of the Flower Division with whom Ogami canonically doesn't end up, lol. That fork drop was a nice reference to their first meeting. It sure was strange to see usually comically arrogant and pretentious Sumire being so honest with everyone, but i guess there's no better time for that than when you're bidding your final farewell. I'm glad they went as far as to provide an explanation for her loss of spiritual powers in that she used them in experiments from young age, because i remember Yoneda saying in second OVA that it usually happens when a person is in their 40s or 50s. Oh, and her final stage costume was absolutely ridiculous, but that actually fits her character.

Looking at this OVA now, i find it deeply ironic that the character who received a whole retirement special episode turned out to be the only one making a re-appearance in the latest game. Kanzaki Sumire is truly eternal.

Kinda sad seeing Sumire retire from the flower Division but still a pretty fancy way she did that, whole performance and all

Sad to see Sumire retire.
Huge respect she understood that it's her time to leave the stage.

Enjoyed this episode!

I find this OVA to be sad, not because of the Sumire story but because it marks the end of quality Sakura Wars animation and the beginning of a dark age. The contrast between this anime and the prior two OVAs and even the TV show is a night and day quality drop. Not just in visuals but also in directing. This OVA has one funny gag with Kanna crying her eyes out and one memorable shot with Sumire and Ogami hugging over her Koubu, and that's all that is worth writing home about the OVA. The following OVAs are pretty mediocre, both visually and story wise.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
