NOTE: If you don't remember, or if you're not really a fan of the man, don't reply. This isn't a thread made for you. You don't need to interact with every thread you find.

My gf told me about him when he turned up in one of the marvel movies that we watched together. I believe it was Spiderman.

Social media of course. Dude created Spiderman, Thor, Hulk and others. Also Nerdy Comedy TV show like big bang theory mentioned a lot about him. Whatever dude gave us so much good time, R.I.P Stan Lee.

I learned about him when people everywhere started talking that he died.

But seriously... I knew the name and probably knew who he was, but if someone asked me randomly on street, I'd only remember that I heard that name somewhere. I never really cared for stuff he did.

I was very well aware of Spider Man before it, but the first time I found out who Stan Lee actually was was that time he was a guest in Hell's Kitchen USA... this is probably going to be the oddest reply to this thread.

I only knew of his existence when people started mentioning his passing. I'm not a fan of comics.

From the Spider-Man game on the PS1. The game featured narration from him so for some random reason, I decided to look him up (I was a kid and this was before the internet was how it is now) and found out how much he created. Been a big fan ever since

I've always been a huge comic fan. I've always been a huge fan of Spiderman and Captain America. So I've known about Stan Lee since for as long as I can remember, though I'm not positive how I specifically first learned about him. I was shocked and a little heartbroken when I learned of his passing. He was a great man.

I did not know who he was aside from a few times I've heard his name mentioned before prior to his passing

What's the difference?

I think it was from watching Heroman and some folks were going on about it. Not that bad of a show, tbh.

the comics
spiderman and xmen were really the only marvel stuff i actually enjoyed before the movies.

Not a clue. Honestly I just knew Stan Lee as that old guy who has random cameos in a lot of random forms of media. I think at some point a reference directly named him and that was where I picked up his name. I never had an interest in comic books, so I still can't really tell the difference between Marvel and DC so I just never dug deeper to see who he was or if there was a reason for his appearances (honestly I probably learned more about him from everybody talking about his death than I had the entire time prior).

iirc it was because of the trend of him appearing in Marvel movies. it was fun, to say the least, to watch every marvel movie waiting for his appearance

Well I used to read some XMen and Uncanny XMen which I got at the library.

But as for who the hell Stan Lee is, probably when the first Spider Man movie came out.

Yeah guess he kicked the bucket huh. Well he was only 2 years from 100, that's a pretty long life yo.

How is someone of 95 years of age 2 years from 100?

A few years ago I was stalking fanart tumblr blogs and got myself into comics and that led to discovering my favorite author.
Then by doing the same thing, I found out he had died. I actually shed a few tears, same as when Robin Williams was found dead.
I hate getting attached to authors and actors... Stan Lee was a great person and I'll never forget what he's done. Hope he rests in peace.

It's better this way.
A little lonelier,
but better.

He made some great carpet cleaners.
DAMN YOU THANOS!

I learned about Stan around the time of Spider-Man (2002). Didn't even know what Marvel was at the time. Lol.

I used to read some superhero related magazines when I was 8-10. I´m pretty sure he might´ve appeared at least in one of those. Or maybe when I became aware of the first boom of Marvel movies back in early 2000s. When I started to notice his cameos, I found really funny.
