Almost flawless adaptation of the VN's ending, shame the show missed out on so many of the important notes.

Chaos child is leagues better than Head. The pacing, the characters, the plot, the powers... everything is smoother. We still get stupid D-swords, but they don't stick around for very long.

Similar to the original series, the plot really starts to fall apart in episode 8 (it was 7 for Chaos;Head), but this show actually manages to pull itself back together in episode 12. It's threatened to drown in pointless edgy melodrama, but the characters pull through and made me care again.

This finale is very unsatisfying as an ending. It feels more like an epilogue than anything, and doesn't really resolve any issues.

As far as plot gripes go, I did not care for Uki. It was strange for her to get adopted, and she felt like a forced replacement for Yui. Yuuto basically stopped existing after Yui died (they were supposed to have a wincest future dammit!!!!). Nano's shapeshift reveal and the father's betrayal make sense in the narrative but are both stupid plotlines that don't really work. Too much hinges on them making stupid choices. Besides Nano is way hotter than Minasawa (even if she is too much of a goody-two-shoes at times).

This story didn't really need a romance, but it would have been satisfying for Serika to reunite with Takuru in the end. As it stands, there isn't really any reason for Takuru to take the blame for the crimes. His self-sacrifice seems completely unwarranted, and like a contrived wedge to promulgate conflict and drama.

7/10 for the main series. 6/10 for this movie in particular.
