The poor people that stumble upon Kuzu no Honkai after scrolling through the romance category looking for a new anime after finishing Toradora or Kaichou wa Maid-sama. They'll probably think it's the same kind of happy romance where the main heroine gradually develops feelings for male lead. First few episodes might be too harsh for some viewers as they realised it was nothing they expected it to be for a 'romance' anime, hence why this anime has got a lot of mixed views.

MAL needs to create a new genre - Dark romance (hentai doesn't count). Perfect fit for this anime, and it'll keep the non-manga viewers from being misled by the tag to avoid having their jimmies rustled.

Kuzu no Honkai is not good for my heart. I've watched a lot of heart-wrenching anime but this one just makes you outright depressed and I can't stop watching cause the plot is so unpredictable and it makes me curious what happens the next episode. I highly recommend starting a happy anime to watch with Kuzu no Honkai. You'll need to switch to it after a few episodes of Honkai to get the depression out of your system

The 'Seinen' tag on it is more than enough of an indicator tbh. I wish they also added it for White Album 2.

Let's call it the "Hopeful Misery" genre.

That pretty much sums up how I felt after seeing the finale: Miserable, yet hopeful for all the characters.

Doesn't need a new genre, it was just always going to be divisive. Certain anime are just not made for "anime fans", and Kuzu is one of them.

Getting really sick of people calling it School Days Season 2 though. If you can't differentiate between the two, you're basically just screaming "I HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO ANALYTICAL ABILITY".
TEN COMMANDMENTS:
1) If Evangelion and Psycho-Pass are his only 10s, he probably also worships Tool and smells like cheesy puffs 2) Freudian psychosis =/= good writing 3) Moe blob art style is only ok in pure slice-of-life comedy 4) It's ok to enjoy shounen. Having fun is allowed 5) It is not ok to enjoy isekai (jk, it is, I just fucking hate it) 6) Creator breakdown =/= good writing 7) A story does not have to be wrapped up with a bow. Life is messy, why would a good story need to be tidy? 8) InuYasha is proto-Twilight 9) Ecchi CAN be good, but is almost always an abomination 10) If God is real, They allowed Super Kid to happen, so fuck Them

That awkward moment when Acchi Kocchi and Kuzu no Honkai have the same tags..

There's not many anime that present this kind of dark atmosphere specially for a romance is there? I haven't watched many but closest one I can think of similar to Kuzu could be Bokura ga Ita. How they both present the ups and downs of a high-school love relationship is quite realistic as you get to see the struggles they go through from both the boy's and girl's perspective. Bokura is also quite a depressive storyline but mostly because of the drama they create out of the littlest things in a relationship, which can drive you nuts the further you watch into the series

I actually agree with this motion! That way people like me who like these kinds of stories can find them easier as well. :D

Are you stupid? There is no need for that tag that would spoil the ending.

You (and many others) completely don't understand what seinen is. It's demographics of manga/magazine. It doesn't specify anything about the plot, tone, maturity or seriousness of the story - seinen manga are both Berserk and GochiUsa. So no, WA2 shouldn't be tagged seinen because it's VN adaptation, not seinen manga adaptation.

Ntr? I mean with this and Netsuzou Trap incoming, and probably older titles I'm forgetting about (that are not H) it could be a genre on it's own.
