Well, let's all just agree that "unrealism" is not necessarily a bad thing. That's what made PoT really fun and enjoyable for me at least!

Honestly, IMO, Chihayafuru is the perfect example that newer sports animes should look at as a template for success. I'm a huge sports fan IRL, but an anime over karuta (seriously wtf is that) was able to capture the true feeling of competition that none others could. While MOST IMPORTANTLY developing it's characters as well. We are able to see some characters succeed, while others fall. We are able to see their teamwork triumph as well as crumble. We are also able to see their lives away from the sport and how that affects their psyche. I dunno. I just love almost everything about Chihayafuru.

Massive sports fan in real life but never really tried any sports anime except One Outs which I really enjoyed, although it's not focused so much on the actual sport itself.

I don't mind it actually.
Do I prefer it? Nah, I like Slice of Life
Do I hate it? Nah
Do I watch it? Only two, but I read the manga and I like it.

I like sports anime since I can't play sports much so I don't know anything much bout it. But by watching anime I learned their rules, moves and basic terminologies and such so sports anime is good for me. And I can enjoy what they are playing thru the characters in the anime so fun :)

Oh I nvr read the manga cuz I can't see the motion in action so for sports genre I prefer anime. Besides, the music and voice plays a big role in the anime so I like it better than manga.
