Rewatching this show, trying to absorb basic Nihongo.
We didn't jump off a bridge when we were kids in the country. However, we did jump off high trees to try superhero landings. Now that I think about, we only got away without injury because we were kids, and kids are made of rubber.
This show does the little things so damn well, as somebody who grew up in a small town with rural areas, this show is really relatable and enjoyable.
The free water from a spring, jumping off bridges/playing in a river, buying fruit from a non-manned stall, etc, all things I experienced growing up often.
non non biyori is not my favorite show ever (but it's up there), but this episode is a definite contender for my favorite single episode of any anime ever.
just the way that hotaru gathers her courage at the end, straightens up with the sound of the river the only thing in her ears, and takes in the beauty all around her (a stark contrast to her former life in tokyo) and music swells as she makes the jump that she was unable to summon the courage for at the beginning of the episode.
i can't even. it's perfect. she's not fearless but she does it anyway.
sometimes fear does not subside and you must choose to do it afraid.
Lovely episode, nice mix of funny moments with the doll playing and the note Renge left, about "getting the amusement park". And the scene near the bridge was well done too.
very cute again and randomly thought that i really like how sometimes some of the girls just cant come play like its not always the 4 main girls and you get scenes like renge and hotaru alone for example. makes it way more real and gives nice character interactions
