| In this episode Barsac faces the execution he would have subjected at least two other people to. This series is so good that I sometimes forget I'm watching a children's show, but it's black and white morality in these scenes is certainly a detriment to the experience (at least as of right now, Barsac and his men are the 'good guys.'). Is the colonial power's interests that Barsac works for really any less exploitative than Neo City's? The series wants to say that it is the person that uses the tool (or the machine or the system) that determines its moral worth. But an execution to keep the system running smoothly seems morally wrong no matter who, or in what name, the system operates for. In the end they're all machines, being used by machines. |
