No news, it may be a Phantom Blood + Araki situation where Negano really didn't like the movie and it did badly so it is never released on disc. Although in this case, he had direct involvement in its production so fault would lie with him. It's not on Amazon (though some merch is) fwiw. |

It's not on Amazon (though some merch is) fwiw. well i'm pretty sure The Five Star Stories manga was retconned to use terms from this movie such as GothicMade instead of Mortar Headd and Automatic Flower instead of Fatima, and the official FSS website is "automaticflowers.ne.jp" and full of Gothicmade stuff, so i don't think Nagano didn't like it... in fact, i think he really likes it... but there's so little info about this in english, it's hard to know for sure. there just... isn't a DVD/Bluray release, as far as i can tell. |

The only explanation it's the tickets don't sell well. It's a original anime, don't have that stuff of "Creator dosn't like" But perhaps i'ts the same situation of Redline, small budget, small team, the BD will take a long time. |

Well, in any case anybody is interested, here is why there won't be any blu-ray: For a quick translation, the movie has been made with a technology that makes it impossible (for now) to watch the movie on our TVs, so the movie doesn't exist on blu-ray and DVD. That's also why even in 2015, there are still some theaters in Japan that are tstill showing the movie. (and for more infos on why it's impossible, I've read on AnimeSuki that GothicMade has been animated and mastered in 4k HD: it's 4096p as opposed to a blu-ray resolution of 1080p) |

Avatar is a movie tought to be watched in 3D. But anyone will die if see in 2D. |

So still nothing I see? [Ultra HD Blu-ray was released like three years ago now and 4K screens exist. I can't see how waiting even longer to release this would benefit anyone, Nagano included. Especially how keen he was to release Five Star Stories in English too. |

If Japanese wikipedia is to be believed, they actually produced it in 12k which means we're never gonna get this movie |

I just found out on this form that it's available on DVD and Blu-ray, and I missed the revival showing that was shown at the same time as Five Star Stories back in 2021, thinking I'd see it on an online video, so I'll be around to see the revival showing you posted the information for this week. |
