Hear ye, hear ye! Holidays truly are a special time of year. It is now that we reflect on what has come before, be that good or bad. Good we appreciate and bad we vow to change. It is also a time to spend with your family and your loved ones. I don’t want to be too much of a cliché but this one cliché is near and dear to my heart so I hope you will forgive me. Besides being with those closest to us and eating, there is nothing quite like being surprised with that perfect gift. So, with this special list we try to honor the best figures that have come out this last year and also to help you find that one perfect gift.
5. Nisekoi FREEing Kirisaki Chitoge - 1/4 - Bunny Ver. Figure
From Freeing comes an outstanding figure of Nisekoi’s main female protagonist, Chitoge Kirisaki! This figure was released in February 2016 and it is based on the exclusive illustrations made by SHAFT which shows Chitogi in an irresistible red playboy bunny outfit with remarkably well done black stockings. This figure was sculpted by Zenko-san while Pinpoint did the colors. The 36 cm (14.04 inches) tall Chitoge figure is made from PVC and it is completely pre-painted. This figure can be yours from around 10,085 yen (~86 US dollars) to approximately 20,055 yen (~171 US dollars).
4. Steins Gate Kotobukiya Kurisu Makise 1/8 Figure
Next on our list we have a figure of Steins Gate’s Kurisu Makise from January 2016. Released by Kotobukiya, the figure was based on the illustration that can be found on cover of the visual novel! M.I.C. skillfully sculpted this figure of the series’ beloved tsundere heroine. This is a 24 cm (9.36 inches) tall completely pre-painted PVC figure. Everything about this figure says high quality. The exquisitely sculpted face, the natural looking clothing, everything is just top notch. But there is one feature of this figure that makes it such a unique item and that is its wonderful base which consists of floating cogs that form the surface on which Makise sits. The base does require some assembly, but trust us - the end result will make all of the work worth it. This beauty can be yours for only about 13,155 yen (~112 US dollars).
3. Prison School Union Creative Hdge Hana Midorikawa Figure
On our third spot, we have a figure of Underground Student Council’s secretary Hana Midorikawa that comes from Union Creative. The 23 cm (8.97 inches) tall figure, that is made from ATBC-PVC and ABS, was released in October 2016. This figure, that is a part of Union Creative’s Hdge line, shows an embarrassed Hana having a sexy yet troublesome wardrobe malfunction. This Hana figure was sculpted by Keita Kawai and the colors were done by Monoris. These artists based the figure on a new illustration done by Akira Hiramoto. This Hana Figure can be an eye-catching part of your collection for about 16,445 yen (~140 US dollars).
2. Aldnoah Zero MegaHouse Variable Action KG-6 Sleipnir Space Type Figure
Next we have the iconic mech from the hit series Aldnoah Zero that is piloted by Inaho Kaizuka, KG-6 Sleipnir! This mech was released by MegaHouse as a part of its Variable Action line. This is a completely pre-painted 18 cm (7.02 inches) tall ABS and PVC figure that was released in March 2016. KG-6 is highly articulate and even has moveable pieces like armored flaps on the leg boosters. The figure comes with a large backpack, a codpiece that is already attached, huge leg boosters and boots. The figure also possesses eight anchor tips from which two pieces of black wire can be attached in order to recreate some iconic scenes. If that is not enough for you, a 37 cm (14.5 inches) long rifle is also included. This figure is ready to take your collection to new heights for about 18,790 yen (~160 US dollars).
1. Black Butler Medicom Toy RAH Ciel Phantomhive Figure
We are finishing this list with a figure of Black Butler’s young lord of the Phantomhive family, Ciel Phantomhive. This figure was released in February 2016 by Medicom Toy as part of their Real Action Heroes line. This ABC and PVC Ciel figure is 22 cm (8.7 inches) tall. Ciel is a completely pre-painted, fully posable figure that comes with a head sculpted by Shintaro Takahashi and with a RAH body that was sculpted by PERFECT-STUDIO while Mieko Akimoto did the clothing. Ciel looks just amazing and he stands as a testament to the work these artists put in. A lot of extras are included with this figure including three interchangeable PVC head parts with different expressions, a removable eyepatch, a right eye with contract symbol, two types of PVC hair parts, a removable jacket, a teacup, a stick, rings and a figure stand. This figure (perfect for any Black Butler fan) will cost you up to 31,475 yen (~269 US dollars).
