you should just buy Pluto.......... its only 8 volumes and SO worth it. Ive re-read the series twice already and wouldnt mind reading it a 3rd time. plus the write-ups at the end are worth reading too

Any fan of Urasawa-sensei has to hear his beautiful voice. Singing Bob Lennon.(Endou Kenji's Song). Fans of 20th Century Boys will especially love it.

Aghhhh. To those of you who've bought the Pluto volumes released by Viz, and want a little more besides the already fantastic story, be sure to read the postscript analyses at the end of some of the books.

And to those who haven't bought the books, but read the series digitally and are still on the fence about collecting (lol, how could you be?), I recommend buy the books for those write-ups alone. They're a nice read.

I just figured out that the way my eReader is set up I wont be able to add external pdfs and read them like the ebooks you would normally buy. so I'll have to read manga scans in an image format........ which is fine since most manga is released that way. so yea, Im about to go on a downloading spree on mangatraders.com!

Duelistbluerose | Apr 1, 2011 3:17 PM
most e-readers recognize .pdf, so that would be the only way i could read them

Raidanzoup | Mar 28, 2011 2:53 PM
Eh, .pdf is kind of unusual for manga releases, isn't it? I mean, .rar is usually the standard with .png files inside and whatnot.

There are quite a few chapters on MangaTraders, it's been a while since I last read anything from Urasawa digitally, so there's bound to be even more now.

Where can I get scans of "Happy!" or other titles he's done that havent seen officially released? Preferably on pdfs since I wanna add them to my e-reader

Torisunanohokori | Mar 26, 2011 8:17 PM
I fully support the act of buying the hardcopy volumes of Urasawa manga now that they are available. That said, there are scans because, at least in the case of 20CB, the official release lagged behind the end of the series.

Thorn_Pilgrim | Mar 26, 2011 5:48 PM
I have all of Monster, half of Pluto and volumes 1-6 and 10-11 of 20th Century Boys. I'm reading the 5th volume of Pluto out of a library though.

And why should there be scans of those? It's been available in English for quite a while.

Torisunanohokori | Mar 16, 2011 9:37 PM
Just caught up to the scanlations of Happy! I must say, among other things, that it's weird to see Endo Kenji working as a loan shark.

Torisunanohokori | Sep 28, 2010 5:37 AM
Yeah, sadly. Your best bet if you want something completed and by Urasawa is the Master Keaton anime. It's pretty solid, though not as outright amazing as some of his other works.

katsup | Sep 27, 2010 10:53 PM
So i've been itching to read something by naoki... but I can't seem to find anything thats completed. :( Are 20th century boys, monster, and pluto really his only series that are complete with english scanlations?!! so sad right now.

I really want to read some more Pluto.

Curse my empty wallet. ;__;

Raidanzoup | Sep 1, 2010 12:14 PM
Thank you, Danish! ... I should've thought of Googling it myself. I usually Google everything else.

Also, what? How many episodes did AnimEigo release? Half?

And yes, earlier titles like Yawara! and Happy! are about young girls trying their best with their respective dreams. I really do enjoy Naoki's recent suspense manga, though.

I actually own the first 2 volumes of Billy Bat in Japanese. I was using translations (the text, not pictures) off of MangaHelper, so I technically WAS reading it legally. It's pretty interesting so far, but I haven't finished the first book.

Pretty much all of Urasawa's recent stuff is Horror/Mystery--Monster, 20th Century Boys, Pluto and Billy Bat all are. I'm guessing Yawara and Master Keaton aren't.

BTW, I heard AnimEigo apparently might not release the rest of Yawara. Sucks, huh?

Here you go.

Raidanzoup | Aug 31, 2010 2:22 PM
Anyone? No one?

Raidanzoup | Aug 18, 2010 7:42 PM
Haha, that's awesome. I'll probably go and fetch myself some Billy Bat if/when that title gets picked up in the west.

Anyone got a higher res version of the Pluto comparison pic in the club pictures?

Thorn_Pilgrim | Aug 16, 2010 12:21 PM
I was reading the 4th volume of Pluto recently. I'd love it if Yawara got licensed, I own #9 (which might be a reprint/compression) in Japanese. I've read all of Monster, I'm on #6 of 20th Century Boys, and own 2 volumes of Billy Bat in Japanese.

AfterGlow | Aug 14, 2010 3:59 AM
Well, Pluto is awesome.

I liked it better than Monster.
