Meh I don't like absolute good ends (lolclannad) since I would much prefer a bittersweet one. Kanon is a superior work than Clannad in this regard imo, but I suppose it lost some points thanks to that addition to the story?

Tomoyo After isn't really as bad as you make it out to be, unless you are a raging Tomoyo fanboy that is. Not every story has to have a good end. While I would have preferred it if TA did have a happy end, I'm satisfied with the way the plot played out.

Yeah, but they fixed the Ayu-ending in the 2006 version for an absolute good end, so it's fine. But not just the Ayu ending suffers this fate. All route's are bad, because it will only make two people happy, and the others will suffer. I didn't even know about the Shiori route's additional info.

But the if you don't choose the main heroine in a Key work, you might suffer a terribly bad ending anyway, see for Tomoyo after...

Oh... I just noticed... great job on the translations :)

Yeah the Ayu end is the worst ending you can pick in the entire VN for the reasons you listed above. Though they fixed it with...

The problem with the traditional Kanon setup is that the reader has to assume that the other heroines just live on their lives if you choose one girl over another. It's not one picking one girl and the rest moving on with their lives, it's picking one girl and the rest suffer something more than unrequited love.

Why I like the way Sharin no Kuni is set up...still wondering why they never made it into an anime T_T

I'm not exactly sure if I came up with the theory on my own or read it somewhere...yeah several years can do that to ya :D

But nah the theory stems from Nayuki's ability to be able to wake up on her own as you progress through her route. She no longer needs to dream because the object of her dreams is right in front of her. Or she no longer has to avoid the bitter reality in favour of her dream...whatever you find easier to digest.

Shiori draws the short end of the stick out of all the girls...

Hah, I'm glad I left Nayuki's route for last. It was better written, than the other routes. I liked the Shiori and Mai route's too, but the best was Nayuki after all...

And PimpToad, your theory about Nayuki is pretty accurate.
