king torture arc is actually pretty solid it's just SO dark SO suddenly while still retaining the comedic/campy tone of the previous arc so it's the tone feels a little off. but the character work is just great even if the plot to back it up is as cookie cutter as it gets. which i get cause samumenco is a parody/homage but still the difference in quality is so staggering. flamngers arc just sucks a whole lot cause 1) i hate kaname 2) barely any mari and goto 3) the flamengers are very shallow & tropey. the turn into mr. justice is one of the best twist in the show it's both really interesting + ACTUALLY funny but overall it really feels like the other shoe dropping. if flamengers feels too much like the story is putting specific challenges in the hero's way to help him grow in a way that's too convenient, this arc actually hightlights what the show actually wants to be about with payoff to established build up that therefore feels more natural. president sentai episode is such a crazy ridic twist but it's once again notable how organic the character rs growth feels.
sawada arc... oof. i like that it just anchors back into how the show is about humans and about love and it REVOLVES around masayoshi's rs with goto. like how mari's character development was about growing closer with her girls, yoshi and goto's were about each other too. literally obsessed with how the whole show builds goto as this super normal regular person calling yoshi a hentai only for the last twist to be that he's a fucking headcase. nothing like it. marriage proposal still the absolute peak of gay fiction and romcom. i love them. amen.
