| ![]() | 00:08 A odd animation. Turns from taking a sip of coffee, looped and with subtle changes to an all out art show of craziness and whatever insanity they could think of to throw on the screen. Not my style but I can appreciate the animation at least. | 5 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | 7 Seeds Watched English Dubbed. Sending people to the future as a last resort from an apocalypse, through cryostasis pods. Putting an instructor designed to help them along with each group. Having one group be all instructor elites... who went through horrible fucked up training that traumatized them. They wake up in hell, and the world constantly tries to destroy them. Its interesting how each group is adapting, what they are doing, and the reasoning for why the fucked up stuff was done way back when. I gotta see this out fully in season 2 where it ends. | 7 | ONA | 12
| ![]() | 7 Seeds 2nd Season Watched English Dubbed. A good continuation to the crazy adventures in this new hostile world. Mostly focusing on Summer B this time, from on their boat and the two exiles of Summer A who just commited murder, attempted rape and other crimes. They join up with Summer B, and are dumbstruck that these careless idiots survived. They start testing them to see if they are worthy of being alive, like their own trials. They end up on an abandoned but intact boat, that when entered begins the countdown to launch missiles and self destruct. through frantic searching and exploration they cant disable it. The crazy iron eating bacteria inside does it for them disabling the shit by following the trail of one of the girls periods. Iron rick blood, gross but it works. They escape, the world continues on, and they are somewhat reformed realizing they were brainwashed and forced to do their test. Hannah survived, and is out there as well, not killed by these two. I do hope a season 3 happens. | 7 | ONA | 12
| ![]() | 91 Days A slow build of a show, but it is all about emotion, revenge, and betrayal. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | 91 Daze Watched English Subbed. Seven small little skits for small comedy bits. Actually decent little stories, nothing amazing but nothing bad here. | 6 | Special | 7
| ![]() | Abenobashi Mahou☆Shoutengai Watched English Dubbed. This is a damn strange show. Seemed at first like a English dub that just didnt care, but then went off the rails in crudeness and parody of so many tropes and genres. Each world being many different parodies, eventually coming to a head with trying to stay in this fantasy instead of the reality of the grandfather being dead. Magic lets them change the accident and prevent it from happening, and life carries on. | 6 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Afro Samurai Watched English Dubbed. Samuel L Motherfucking Jackson as a murderous revenge and vengeance driven samurai. Hell yes. So much amazing action, amazing animation style. I'm amazed I had not watched this before. And unfortunate as it is, even from the top, the battle never truly ends. someone will always try to seek out that power. | 8 | TV | 5
| ![]() | Afro Samurai: Resurrection Watched English Dubbed. The consequences of Afros actions come to fruition. He rejected the number 1 headband and the whole system. Took the band and retreated to live alone rather than embrace the role. Seeking revenge, Former members of of the sword master and that family seek revenge and take the headband, along with digging up a piece of Afros dead father. Afro goes on the quest for the headband purely to let his father rest in piece. The fights are beautiful each time they happen. The creatures interesting. The final battle against his own resurrected father, is fucked up as hell but grand. Afro lives through it, reclaimed the number 1 headband, and walks to the mountain throne to take the summit of ultimate power. Last time he rejected it, now, its assumed he will properly control it. But as a final hardship, Justice has regenerated and is back at that throne room. Wonderful done, and Afro giving the number 2 headband to the kid is perfectly completing the cycle yet again. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko Watched English Subbed. Little 1 minute vignettes of Retsuko's life. Usually with office life, and nearly always ending in frustrated screaming at thing being unfair, unnecessary, and just venting her rage at it all. Its interesting how these little snippets and characters go morphed to the later Aggretsuko show for Netflix. I can see some story lines here that were greatly expanded, some characters fleshed out and changed, some cut entirely. Its fun to see how much it developed and i do like it. | 7 | TV | 100
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko (ONA) Watched English Dubbed. A surprisingly eye-opening look at office life and how many different people who seem shitty on the outside have their own difficulties and coping mechanisms going on. | 8 | ONA | 10
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko (ONA) 2nd Season Watched English dubbed. Good continuation and development of Retsuko's story. Showing her ideals and values. and in the end having her stand by the dream of marriage and a family, rather than throw it away for a person they very much enjoy and would be financially set for life with. Interesting, but I definitely disagree with their decision personally. | 7 | ONA | 10
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko (ONA) 3rd Season Watched English Dubbed. Going from where it left off, Retsuko ends up having money problems both from getting addicted to a VR boyfriends microransactions, and from a car accident that she is at fault for. To shoulder this debt, she takes on a job with the person she hit, and becomes the buisness accountant for an underground idol group. To bust them out, Retsuko is forced into singing her death metal for them as well. A tense balancing act of who knows and who doesn't at work breaks out. A stalker gets hold of her address, stalks her, and goes to attack her with Haida saving Retsuko at the end. I hope, that with the final moments, Haida is actually the one for Retsuko. | 7 | ONA | 10
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko (ONA) 4th Season Watched English Dubbed. Ah Retsuko, the struggles of life, work, relationships, and anthropomorphic animals. This season has a change of management, the CEO is in the hospital, and Himuro is promoted. He makes sweeping changes to try to save the company and bring it into the future. People are coerced to resign, or demoted and changed to work on their own. Its a strange quirk of Japanese business, being almost unable to fire workers. Throughout all of this, Retsuko and Haidas relationship goes strange. Haida somewhat confessed to Retsuko before, but wont make the final move to go on dates, enter her apartment, comes up with any excuse to get out of it. Eventually Retsuko ends it, with lets just be friends. Then it circles back around with Retsuko being the pone to take that step and try to make it work. Its all over the place and strange. Yet again it kind of falls apart with both having to scheme behind the others back. Retsuko to help Ton, and Haida when he is promoted at work and stays late. The final part of season is Haida looking to cook the books financially, and Retsuko and team working to expose this. It culminated in Haida confronting the boss over this, trying to stop it at the last moment. Retsuko, comes in, blasts them away with her voice, almost kills them, and they are saved by the window washer jaguar manager of the idol girls. This was a good season many complex arcs and lots of character development of side characters. Ton is explored, The hippo lady and her life. Its good to see their insights. Well done. | 8 | ONA | 10
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko (ONA) 5th Season Watched English Dubbed. Haida is out of work now, and thins spiral down. He gets lost in the wonder of gaming, addicted to it. It takes tough love and a tough situation to finally break him out of it. To lose his apartment, end up living at a cyber cafe, and for Retsuko to not see him until he gets a job, as a way to try to motivate him. It works, it takes hell, but Haida moves in with Retsuko when he is found living at the internet cafe. Out of pity to rescue him, she takes him in, and encourages him to find work for real. The struggle is real, but he does get a supermarket job. Its simple, not great, but it counts. Retsuko's life also flips on its head when Masuo Ikari tracks Retsuko down, and with collusion form her old band, very much pressure and kidnap her into becoming a political candidate for the "Party of Rage". It takes back and forth before she finally gets on board and will do it, trying it even with her companies support. Through harnessing her rage on the campaign trail, she politically battles against Jirou, Haida's brother running for office in place of his father. It is a good race, so many supporters of Retsuko come out, but it just isn't enough. Jirou wins, and life moves on back to mostly normal. One big change though, in the inspiration, it appears Retsuko and Haida got a late night immediate marriage, and I'm happy for them. Finally, Retsuko met up with Shikabane, Haidas online game friend and internet cafe hangout bud. They karaoke, and she gets to bond in rage with Retsuko. A good continuation. | 7 | ONA | 10
| ![]() | Aggressive Retsuko: We Wish You a Metal Christmas A solid Christmas special that continues the Retsuko storyline. | 7 | ONA | 1
| ![]() | Akagami no Shirayuki-hime Watched English Dubbed. A good story and good characters. Going from a herbalist, demanded to be the concubine of the local lord, spiting him and running away. Then the adventurers with Zen and friends, and the budding relationship blooming into love at the end. Its good and really does give a decent implication of a commoner coming up to nobles and mixing in their world. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2nd Season Watched English Dubbed. Some real development, and a decent conclusion. A good portion of the season is taken up by being Shirayuki being captured, and the quest to get her back. Its a good arc, sets up a friendly faction and cements Raj as having grown as a character to be better and care for his new friend. The ending of yea this is my long lost father... was fucking strange and unnecessary. Simple goings on in the castle, daily herbalist life, its simple and nice. Crossed with the nobles and love of Zen, it gets complicated but is good. She does love him, and he loves her. This is reaffirmed in the end, and they will be together. Its a solid show. A little predictable, but nice. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Akagami no Shirayuki-hime: Nandemonai Takaramono, Kono Page Watched English Subbed. A nice calm piece to add between season 1 and 2. Shirayuki goes on a date with Zen into the castles surrounding town. Exploring the city, its shops and wares, that things it has to explore. Its nice and calm, with romantic touches here and there. Getting a bookmark for Shirayuki was a good choice, and Shirayuki writing a letter in return for after the date as her present back. Zens strange attempts at gifts for his friends, do not match said friends at all. Its funny how out of touch he is in that way. A good story, nothing overly exciting but its not meant to be. | 7 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Akira | 7 | Movie | 1 | |||
| ![]() | Akuma no Riddle Assassin girls thrown into a class, ordered to kill a classmate. One defects and becomes her protector. Its an interesting premise, but the ending falls flat. Literally everyone lives through this, even after being stabbed, or whatever else. NONE of them died. We don't learn of the protectors wish either. Just feels like an ending that robs us. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Akuma no Riddle: Shousha wa Dare? Nukiuchi Test Watched English Dubbed. The typical fan service special with a dumb premise in order to make it happen. Nonlethal combat to take a badge, and the winner gets their wish. The teacher ends up with it because it gets flung off to an unrelated part of the island he was on, and he just wants them all safe to graduation. Just feels so dumb. | 4 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Aldnoah.Zero Watched English Dubbed. This is an interesting war story. Using a discovered portal on the moon, people were able to travel to mars and inhabit it. One person on that mars settlement awakened a old technology, Aldnoah, which powers so much but only works for him and his bloodline. A previous conflict of the two planets happened 15 years ago and now it begins again. This time over the staged assassination of the Martian princess, except the lived and it was a body double who died. Some small number of the Martians committed treachery and treason in order to try to begin anew this war and conquer Earth once and for all. They view themselves as the superior race. Now through clever strategy and technology the Terrans fight through, protecting the Princess as their only hope to peace. At the end, the main traitor dies, the Princess seems to die, as does our main character hero we have been following. So much death in the very end in order to take out ONE landing castle, and try to end this war. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Aldnoah.Zero Part 2 Watched English Dubbed. Wow, the second half of this took me by surprise how it managed to get better and how convoluted and intricate it became, in a very good way. All lived through the final showdown where the last part left off, Inaho gains a computer eye to aid him, Knight is crippled a bit but recovers, and the princess needs many months of recovery and is essentially in a coma. Her younger sister takes her place and masquerades as her. Slaine becomes somewhat corrupted in his goal to fulfill the princesses wishes, and what he thinks she would have wanted. He uses that to his own ends to wage all out war on the earth and declare the founding of a new empire under himself. Through capture of a Orbital Knight, Inaho manages to learn he wants only the best and he agrees to seek out the truth of the Princess, and try to watch over and help her from afar. The princess does recover in time, all out war is waged in a final battle, a surprise attempt to recapture and or kill the princess is launched by the earth forces, and she escapes with the help of a Martian still loyal to the princess above all else. She takes over, and declares herself rightful empress, and declares peace immediately. Slaine orders full retreat / surrender, but some of his forces refuse and will only die a honorable death in battle. Slaine blows up the moon base he is on, but escaped into the fray of battle to face Inaho one final time. Slaine is bested, both very damaged, and inaho uses his own mech as a shield to bring them through the fall back to earth. They both survive, and he is forced to live with the guilt of all he has done wrong. The princess actively brings about peace and begins to supply Aldnoah tech to the earth to help. Peace reigns, and damn this show was good. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | All Alone With You Nice visuals, good music. | 6 | Music | 1
| ![]() | Amagi Brilliant Park A strange story of saving a park of Magical creatures and their princess that need this wrld's happiness to survive. Mostly silliness, but does have some development as it goes on. It is odd the magic powers thing only came up like 2 or 3 times. | 6 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Amagi Brilliant Park: Nonbirishiteiru Hima ga Nai! Watched English Dubbed. A fine little addition to Amagi, nothing special though. | 6 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Amagi Brilliant Park: Wakuwaku Mini Theater - Rakugaki Backstage Watched English Subbed. Short little continuations to episodes. It does elaborate on a few plots and ideas, so its nice. | 6 | Special | 7
| ![]() | Amanatsu Watched English Subbed. A confused piece that wants to tell a story of a child who grew up with this robot in their family, but now rejects it as it was likely the cause of their fathers imprisonment regarding state secrets. She rejects the robot, allows it to be taken away when found, and wants to hurt or kill herself. Shortly after being flown away and as the girl prepares to cut herself, a part of the robot floats down, projecting many videos of her time with it, the good they did. It is touching in its own way for that, but is flawed and pacing wise is not well done. The animation in 3D is quite primitive and hampers the story's looks. A good attempt with an emotional story, but this just doesn't have the means to tell it effectively. | 5 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Ame-iro Cocoa Just a boring slice of life about a coffee shop. Nothing more too it. | 4 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Angel Beats! | 8 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Angel Beats! Another Epilogue | 7 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Angel Beats! Specials | 7 | Special | 2
| ![]() | Angel Cop Was just ok. Typical 90's style is very present. It became a confusing muddled plot of people trying to take down the government, fighting a terrorist organization, a group of people with super powers trying to fight the terrorists, and a Special police squad to stop the terrorists,. then the governments orders the killing of the special squad, and it all devolves into a confused mess. Decent actions scenes but the plot is a mess. | 5 | OVA | 6
| ![]() | Ano Ko ni 1000% Even though I couldn't find a version with English subtitles, this is just an average really condensed love story. Get up the courage to ask about him on the phone. See him with another girl and get jealous that he is two timing you. He comes up with a birthday gift for you. They kiss, the end. Really simplistic even without understanding the worlds. | 4 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Another A nice tense building thriller story. Supernatural, trying to deduce how to prevent the deaths, then how to end them once it has already begun. People keep dying, time keeps passing by, and it really does get intense. I like it. Still, wish there was some way to break the curse or whatever it is, rather than just leave information to the future classes to use. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Ansatsu Kyoushitsu Damn this is a good show. A unique premise, lots of good slice of life and connecting with individual characters. Their own development and growth, counterbalanced by trying to kill the teacher they love. Ritsu is best girl. Nagisa is best fake girl. | 9 | TV | 22
| ![]() | Ansatsu Kyoushitsu 2nd Season Yep this made me choke up at all the right parts and get invested. Love this show. Love their futures and what he left them with. | 10 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Ansatsu Kyoushitsu: Deai no Jikan It gives a nice look into how Koro-Sensei tries to please his students and appeal to them, even by means of lies. A nice addition. | 7 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Ansatsu Kyoushitsu: Kagaijugyou-hen Watched English Subbed. Two little extra stories that were never dubbed, but add some nice context to a few characters. | 7 | ONA | 8
| ![]() | Ao no Exorcist | 7 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Ao no Exorcist: Ura Ex Watched English Subbed. Short little specials adding further to Blue Exorcist. Decent, but nothing amazing. | 6 | Special | 10
| ![]() | Appleseed Watched English Dubbed. This was a strange experience. the story is ok on its own, shows a bit of dystopia future, but the film overall has not aged well in 30 years. It shows how far anime has come and it drags because of that. Still like the idea, but its a bit worse just for how far tech has come and how anime is made now comparatively. | 5 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror Watched English Dubbed. Divided into three stories, this tells some good old horror stories of long ago. First, The Legend of Tenshu, forbidden love of a god and a human. A forgotten god and human fall in love, though it is forbidden. Humans eventually make to attack the forgotten gods castle. A great slaughter occurs, but their powers have lessened form loving a human. Most of the forgotten gods die, the humans all seem to die in the attack, and the two in love transcend and are willing to accept each other in their new forms. Second, Yotsuya Ghost Story, told with the playwright's spirit as the narrator of the story. Betrayal, murder, lies, and a curse. Iemon is a piece of shit and betrays and murders, lies, and does whatever to get what he wants, including the hand of his bride. When this bride becomes disfigured by another's jealousy, he quickly wants to move on. Lady Oiwa, the disfigured bride, is killed, and the curse is set in motion. She haunts Iemon and any who caused this on her, and causes them great suffering. Finally in the end, revenge is taken, he is consumed by rats as he was about to strike yet another mortal blow. The play is said to be cursed and bring great misfortune, like some other stage and theater curses. Interesting to learn that part. Finally, Monster Cat. A medicine seller comes to a house peddling his wares. The bride who is about to be married falls dead, and the strange Medicine man is detained under suspicion. Accusations fly, and things begin to grow out of hand. A demon is afoot, and seeking to kill in vengeance. For the medicine man to help, he needs to understand all he circumstances, the reason for the demon lashing out, what caused it. They hide it, but after enough pain and death, the truth is spilled. The old man of the house, 25 years ago, captured a woman. He kept her, and a cat was her only real companion. She refused to eat, feeding the cat instead. The woman was abused, and probably killed. The cat, possibly killed, took on all this pain and is why they now seek out their vengeance for themself and the woman. That is a fucked up family secret to have. Some damn good historical spooky tales to learn about, and well done. | 7 | TV | 11
| ![]() | B-gata H-kei Watched English Dubbed. Better than I thought it would be going in. The girl is ridiculous in wanting to have sex with 100 people as a premise, yet is a virgin who is shy around actual sex. The ending isn't actual sex, close but no actual sex. With future promise of a continuing relation between the main two, I guess the girl has leaned to like him and care for him in a real relationship, rather than see him for just sex alone. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Baccano! Very good ending. It all got resolved. Also very unique storytelling jumping between multiple points in time so often. Confusing, but it works out. | 8 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Baccano! Specials Very nice expansion upon the original show. | 8 | Special | 3
| ![]() | Bakemono no Ko | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Baoh Raihousha Watched English Dubbed. 30 year old anime, it certainly is interesting to see how far the industry has come. This was a bland character thrown into the situation of strange power being forced upon him through experimentation and surgery. He ends up escaping his creators / captors with a psychic girls help. The creators with to hunt him down, to kill the beast, but he is a genetic freak and his mutation retaliates for him. He is beyond their ability to deal with. He ends up in an underground lake, but the girl had a vision he will awaken again and find her in 7 years. Its a strange one. Fast paced with little real story. Its mostly a gore fest in every encounter. Its just ok, but i can appreciate it for what it was at the time. | 5 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Batman: Gotham Knight Ill break it down story by story. First, each kids interpretation of batman, seeing what crazy version and powers he takes on, then being confronted by the real thing. great. Second, two cops delivering a prisoner back to Arkham. One has lost hope in the department because they are running errands for a vigilante, Batman, rather than stopping real crime. They are caught in a firefight, batman rescues them and reinforces they are right for the job. Third, Development of a new tool to help him. A EMP of a more personal size. That then is converted onto the suit to deflect bullets off. At the end, he determines its too dangerous because it puts others at risk of ricochet, which did injure someone in the story. Fourth, Killer Croc and Scarecrow. Going into the sewers, fighting Killer Croc, and using the methane of the sewers to cause an internal explosion in the Croc. great one. Scarecrow is a bit of a letdown. Yes Scarecrows fear toxin is present but none of his character is there. He wants the homeless driven down to the sewers... for reasons. And is sacrificing a priest because he was helping the homeless. His motivation and reasoning is lost on me here, but still good action. Fifth, how batman learned to deal with pain. Last, Batman hunts down a sniper. All of the shorts had their own distinct styles. Really liked them. | 7 | OVA | 6
| ![]() | Baymax Watched with no available subtitles. Its a music video/ animatic, running through a condensed story of Big Hero 6. Specifically about the 2 brothers, working together, helping each other. The older sees the younger is kind of alone, and makes Baymax as his new best friend to keep him going. While reluctant to accept him, they do become friends and its told in a fun animatic sketch format. Using back to back of 2 characters, show or do a thing, then turn for the next characters part, a simple and ingenious move. | 6 | Music | 1
| ![]() | Bayonetta: Bloody Fate Watched English Dubbed. A odd one for sure. The fight of Heaven and Hell, a child born of both and brings about the destruction. Bayonetta is that child of long ago, trapped/ saved, and lost her memories. She stumbles through the world, and finds out the truth of her lineage, the awakening of a god, all this brought about by her father. In the end, with a old friend, she kills him in a really over the top battle. Its a good one, but damn weird. Also no clue if it follows any of the games at all. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Biohazard 4D-Executer Watched for anime challenge. Old bad CGI, and a resident evil story to collect research. The doctor of said research has now mutated and ends up fighting off and incorporating the military team sent after her. | 5 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Black Lagoon Watched English Dubbed. Betrayed Japanese buisnessman becomes a part of the merc crew Black Lagoon. They do lots of illegal jobs, form interesting bonds, and gave crazy deadly fights with the enemy. Very enjoyable. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Black Lagoon Omake Watched English Subbed. Showing the Black Lagoon crew and side characters in new roles and enviornments. In a school setting as students and teachers. Magical girl Revy is amazing in her way of solving problems still being shooting them. Balalaika constantly dealing with little children Hansel and Gretel as the monsters they are was fun. Gender-bended and how they all would look and act is 100% on point, and funnier for all still having the normal voice actors Telling what each of them considers to be scary stories shows what each of them tends to fear. Seeing super young versions of them all was a strange experience. And finally Japanese comedy routine for the cultural festival, taken to extreme physical violence levels of comedy. Good overall, but strange. | 6 | Special | 7
| ![]() | Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail Watched English Dubbed. Essentially a 2 and a half hour movie of Robertas attempted revenge and the reprucuttions of it all. SO much to go through so much packed in her.e Rock almost losing himself in how he now views people as pieces in the game, and thinking ahead having it all planned out. All the firefights were amazing, and the final Roberta fight especially. She is relentless, and only trickery of her master bearing the weight of revenge in a false killing let her somewhat come to her senses. She will recover with him back in Venezuela forever. A damn good way to end the series. | 8 | OVA | 5
| ![]() | Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage Watched English Dubbed. The continuation of the first season. In general this isn't a continuity show.Beyond the initial setup of Rock being introduced to the crew it follows individual story arcs. First, the murder twins, who were probably also exploited, who go on a murder spree against the ones who hired them and make life difficult for all the gangs to the point they all band together against the common menace. They are tragic, never having a chance at normality and have no real concept but to do what they want, which is often murder. They also appear to have a shared / split personality, being able to act as either the sister or brother each, each being a different personality and each able to pull it off. This one arc at the very end really put shivers in me at how fucked up the reasoning and morality of the twins is. How twisted they had become. It made me sad and in this messed up state really did see their death as the only option. Second story arc, the counter fitter. A girl and her partner, using internet friends as well around the world, make up a counter fitting ring being supported by one of the mafia gangs. They run over budget and over time, and one is taken out. The girl rebels and escapes, seeking the help of the Ripoff church. She does eventually set up help in a corrupt way, leading to shit going very wrong at the dock of the boat. The boat is gone for now, the bounty hunters track them down and mass attack the place, eventually burning it down. They do get on the boat, a bit more fighting, and the girl is saved. Benny becomes her hero by recovering the files she needed digitally. Third, final and longest arc, The japanese clan. Starting with Rock as a translator for Balalaka's Hotel Moscow, and Revy as bodyguard. The Japanese clan is to be attacked, all out war declared and the whole lineage destroyed. Eventually this buts a small teenager in charge, and through many moral quandaries ends up trying to take her revenge on Balalaka even after the war is called off. It ends in her lovers death in a duel with Revy, and as a result in grief and dishonor, she takes her own life. Damn good stories, damn good action, damn hard morality at times. A really good show throughout. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | BNA Watched English Dubbed. A good story for being thrust into a whole new world, being forced to experience it for your very survival, but looking to go back to what you used to be. Lots of learning experiences from the different beast men along the way, their interests and ways of life. A good build up with the silver wolf reveal and the fake one being the friend. The reason for the transformation being smuggling and an accidental mix up. And the "Pure" bastard being the true enemy of them all. A good show, sweet visuals, messages of inclusivity and accepting differences, finding your own path and being yourself. I like it, and wow it is so much furry and anthro overload but im down for it. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Boku dake ga Inai Machi Watching English Dubbed. Damn that is good psychology in this. On much later reflection, wow the ending is trash and ruins so much of the build up of this show. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan Watched English Dubbed. This does have a decent premise, but quickly goes really downhill. In the future Sakura is going to invent something that makes women stop aging at age 12, and gives immortality. To stop this, angels are sent back to him to kill him and prevent this from ever happening. But Dokuro, th angel assigned to do this, chooses to kill, revive, and slow him down in every way to prevent the immortality thing ever happen, rather than outright kill and be done. MANY shenanigans, killing him constantly and reviving, and everyone know and is fine with it?! It does have some odd unique stuff, the sister trying to reclaim her at the end. Overall, pretty bad and likely a self fulfilling prophecy of Dokoro and Sakura falling in love and causing the immortality thing, maybe? | 4 | OVA | 4
| ![]() | Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan 2 Watched English Dubbed. More of this odd ridiculousness. Still not my thing, and this just further cements it. The setup in these ovas and the living situation does kinda directly contradict the previous ending, never addressed that which is odd. | 4 | OVA | 2
| ![]() | Btooom! An interesting take on people selling out others, who then are put in a survival death game very similar to an online game called BTOOOM. Fighting primarily with different types of explosives, all well and good so far. So many close encounters that should have been certain death for the main hero. And then the bullshit ending that leaves us hanging, with no closure except "the network is down, sending a helicopter out" who knows if that just to fix the network or to rescue them all. Will the fight continue? Who knows! Damn hack job ending. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Burn the Witch Watched English Dubbed. A interesting idea, of a parallel world alongside our own. Focused on dealing with dragons. This is a good concept, and id love to see it developed out more into a world proper, but that seems unlikely. Essentially 3 episodes, or an hour long special / movie, and thats all there is likely ever gonna be. Regardless, having very harsh penalties for unauthorized contact with dragons to prevent stuff is a harsh but needed idea in that world. Everyone needs dragon insurance for all the damage they inevitably cause. And the biggest legends of old, they are the basis for the seven strongest ancient dragons, and here we see Cinderella's dragon develop and come into being, and be dealt with. Some damn good action, great magic ideas, love the spray-paint summoning circles idea, and this is a wonderful concept id love to see fleshed out more. | 7 | ONA | 3
| ![]() | Byousoku 5 Centimeter Watched English dubbed. Was ok, good animation but being three different stories, three different time periods... I get they were going for connected over time, these two people and their connection, but I just didn't like it. What i take away from this movie, is the girl held her feelings in and bottled them up. The guy grew jealous and pined after her, though it would never be. Girl married and ended up relatively happy, they guy fell into despair over the loss of his love. Thats what i got. Sad as it is. | 6 | Movie | 3
| ![]() | C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control Watched English Dubbed. A strange one to be sure, using money based super powered duels for power, control and at times destroying futures. Futures are held as collateral, and negative results mean they change or become unwritten. Financial distract being the work of a creator, trying to get humanity to cooperate and yet we turn it hostile and use it for our own gain is just like humanity. The ending is strange, somewhat ambiguous. They are in some japan like place, futures are back in order to the way they were before from what we see, and the dollar replaces the yen. Otherwise little is known. Its a strange show, but the ending leaves me wanting more explanation. Overall it want a great show but want bad either. middle of the road with a odd ending. | 6 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Captain Herlock | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Cardcaptor Sakura Watched English dubbed. Show is approved and loved by Reeniko. Show was ok, but just became samey and very slice of life. Not my style. Picking it back up again for the 2018 anime challenge. Was still just ok, not my general style but finished it out. The plot did get better eventually with the conclusion. Sakura becomes the master and the cards go off her power. the last 3 or so episodes are what make this good. Completing the story, answering the questions, Lee finally expressing his love, and the creation of a new card. | 6 | TV | 70
| ![]() | Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 1 Fucking terrible. Bad songs throughout the movie. They changed voice actors for major characters just for this movie, and they are really grating and bad. Just, damn this went to shit. | 3 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen Prologue - Sakura to Futatsu no Kuma Watched English Dubbed. A solid alternate ending to Card Captor Sakura. Only bad part is the voices for this are none of the original cast and kind of suck in this one. | 6 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Carole & Tuesday Watched English Dubbed. It really is the 7 minute miracle. This show is beautiful and inspiring. Touching stories, going from nothing to the top. Seeing heroes who have fallen. Seeing a rival in a star. Everyone has struggles, and through music they are expressed so well. From the early discovery with Mars Discovers, and Sibyl being crazy to Tuesday and trying to sabotage and hut her when the overly attached fan doesnt get what they want. They get disqualified, but still are given a contract opportunity with Angela winning proper. The contract is shot down and they go with a crazy old man in the slums who is a legend. He is a hard ass, but he makes the best shit. Rising from there seeing Angelas journey, and downfall. She loses her "mom", who isnt her real mom. Only at death does she say I love you. She spirals into self hatred, popping so many pills. She performs her song at the Mars Grammys, and collapses partway through. Her former producer manager AI guy is no where, having been arrested, on bail, and still hasnt shown up for her. It comes to a head with him showing up in her hospital room. Both of them are generically perfect baby's, he is the first, Angela is the second. Their creation landed the creator in prison for a long time. The final part, getting everyone together to stand against the background plot of Tuesdays mother, the presidential candidate who is campaigning on anti immigration stuff, is beautiful. Getting every music person they have encountered together to sing a secret concert for the world, "We are the World" style. It is beautiful and I love it all. | 10 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Cat Shit One This is really surprisingly good for the odd combination of things it is. 3D anime and models, usually bad but it mostly works here. Anthropomorphized animals, works fine with the exception of how the hell do they hear the headset if its just sitting on their heads and not their ears. Bunnies as the rescue force, and terrorist group as camels. Racist as hell but it works. Its so strange it just works. | 7 | ONA | 1
| ![]() | Charlotte A cool idea of powers induced through a recurring event, in this case a comet passing by and the material from it raining down on earth. Going historical with it being explanation for witch trials and other such magic in history as well. My only gripe is the confusion that memory easing stuff and time travel caused. While story wise it may have been necessary, on screen it came off as confusing at points because of this. Still, a solid show and a good ending. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Charlotte: Tsuyoimono-tachi A nice addition, even if it is mixed with tragedy at the cruelty of the world. | 7 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Chi's Sweet Home Watched English subbed for Anime challenge. Cute cat finds a new home after being separated from its mom, and has cute adventures with new family. | 7 | TV | 104
| ![]() | Chobits Watched English Dubbed. A very slow burn of a show. Starts out as slice of life type comedy with Chii, teaching her the very basic things and many misunderstandings for comedic purpose. Slowly it develops into more of a friendship, and caring for Chii properly. In the end, it blossoms into love and breaking the boundary, a human and a persacom in love, and accepting that. Something in Chiis memory triggers at this, triggering a program to allow her previous downloaded personality to emerge. Her creator mother, gives the command to delete her at this persacoms request. Even after deletion, Chiis memory loves on and reconciles internally with that personality, Chii emerges and accepts Hidekis love once again. Its a strange show, and the ending message about breaking the bounds of love and forming love is good, but this show was so slow paced for a good while it was a drag to get through. | 6 | TV | 26
| ![]() | Choujigen Game Neptune The Animation Watched English dubbed. Having played the first three Neptune games first then watching this so i wouldn't be spoiled, it was well worth it. The anime version plays with some ideas from across these three games, mixing up order, definitelly changing continuity, but thats ok for adaptation purposes like this. Episode by episode. 1st, Neptune is sent out to learn to be more like a proper cpu (from the 3rd game) and monster hunting. 2nd, Trick captures Rom and Ram, (from 2nd game) 3rd, 5PB concert, and the main four goddesses being captured (from the start of 2nd game) 4th, The sisters train to try and get their own transformations as well. Nepgear succeeds as they head into a battle to rescue their big sisters. 5th, other sisters get their own transformation, fight against Arfore, Big sisters appear to die, but have escaped and are reunited happily. 6th, Anonydeath's hacking of Noire's basilicom and security in general. Tracking them down, and capturing them. (3rd game). Plutia falling from the sky, (a reverse of whats in the 3rd game of Neptune falling into Plutias world. ) 7th, The entire event of Arfore getting an eggplant farm to use as a secret weapon against Neptune. Forcefeeding IF eggplants, and the introduction of Peashy. (3rd game) 8th, Essentially a beach episode, use of the swimsuit costumes from the games. Peashy being captured / corrupted arc starts. (3rd game) 9th, Eden rises up under Yellow heart, Peashy. (3rd game) 10th, conclusion of Eden and Peashy fight, breaking yellow Heart out of her forced control and memory blocking, she somewhat remembers, and as she is sent back home she remembers "Neptuna". 11th, Rei Rights and Tari rise up (3rd game) 12th, The defeat of Rei Rights (3rd game), but heavily different from in the game. So many good story lines, even in compressed form, are taken from the games directly. SO many good little references that made me laugh. Only geeks will understand stuff like Zune Island, The consoles as the various nations, references to some games and consoles throughout. So much geeky goodness. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Choujigen Game Neptune The Animation: Yakusoku no Eien - True End Watched English dubbed. Again so many good referances to in game events, compressed down to a single episode in this case. Bad ending disease, showing possible bad ends of characters, a creepy Rom Ram and trick wedding, and the actual 2nd game Gehaburn ending of killing all the cpus one by one. Venturing back to the other dimension and seeing those versions again was great. Climbing the True Neptral Tower from the Stellas Dungeon mini game, a great touch. And the ending, of being stuck in that dimension only to find a way to reconnect and open a basically permanent portal to the other side, allowing free travel between the two so everyone can meet their counterpart. And the final shot of Plutias dolls of everyone, all versions. So good. <3 | 8 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Chuukou Ikkan!! Kimetsu Gakuen Monogatari: Kimetsu no Utage Tokubetsu-hen Watched English Dubbed. Small little silly stories of the cast re-imagined as going to school together and the interactions from that. In a comedic style, and just for some genre bending fun compared to the normal show. Its fine, but has no real substance. a few little jokes and interactions, but not much. | 5 | Special | 3

| ![]() | Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Damn this is a hell of a show. Don't know how i missed it before now, but damn this is a hell of a tactics game. Plays with emotions, backstabbing and trickery, constant double lives. So much goodness. | 9 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch - Kiseki no Birthday I really dont know what to make of this story. its episode length, but the story it tells is strange as hell and nonsensical. I know this one is more for comedy, but its just not for me since it contradicts much of the existing story. | 5 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch - Nunnally in Wonderland Very solid. Meant as comedy but a reimagening of alive in wonderland with good references from the Geass story. Its a good reimagining. | 7 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Picture Drama Somewhat fluff pieces, a bit fan servicey on a few. But some give a genuine extra insight to character relations. | 6 | Special | 9
| ![]() | Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Daaamn. So he became the villain of the world in order to unify it all against him in the end. A hell of a tale. | 9 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Picture Drama Even better than the 1st picture drama. this fills in more story, and the last one, it helps wrap up the story and make it good. | 7 | Special | 9
| ![]() | Colorful (Movie) A strange story of living life again, making sense of it all, discovering yourself and accepting your flaws and other peoples. I do have some problems with this though, the nervous kid is only really partially explained at the end, and even then not truly why they are an interest to them and looking out for them, concerned. The mom apparently was paid for sex or at least having an affair, yet this is never fully resolved. The end message is trying to be yourself, know you had mistakes and live each day. A good message, but muddles with how they try to present it and the at times boringly average slice of life daily lives. Its ok, but nothing amazing. | 6 | Movie | 1

| ![]() | Cossette no Shouzou Watched English Dubbed. A strange horror and supernatural trip. Eiri falls in love, or at least obsession with a girl he sees within a special glass. No one else is able to see her, and he becomes fascinated and driven to understand her, be with her. He learns more about her in a few encounters with the girl, Cossette. Eiri agrees to take on her pain in order to be with her, the pain she cursed Marcello, her killer and fiancé with. Through a wound on his chest he is marked, and Eiri is also somehow Marcello reborn anew, according to Cossette. So, he must atone for his sins. Through literal torture ripping him apart, Eiri screams as Cossette slowly takes care of some of the hatred and curse bit by bit. Eventually, Cossette reaches a point where she realizes no they are two separate people, and to punish him for Marcellos sins will just kill him in the end and turn him into a demon. She removes herself, says goodbye, and Eiri begins to frantically search for her. In madness he does find Cossette, but not his own Cossette, it is the portrait made by Marcello and its personification. He casts it aside, calls it out for what it is, breaks the illusion, and goes to an inner sanctum of portraits. There he paints his own perfect portrait of his Cossette, in his own blood. With its completion, the other paintings burst into flames and seem to banish that spirit. Only the real one remains, the one he loves, and she seems to be saved and safe now. Weather Eiri and Cossette can be together in that strange world, i truly don't know. This definitely has unanswered questions, but supernatural and horror can do that. It's ok, but just strange to me. | 5 | OVA | 3

| ![]() | Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Watched English Dubbed. This show is beautiful, and it revitalized Cyberpunk 2077 from being a joke of a game released in such a rushed state, to being decent again and worth a second shot for many people purely because of the world this show built. David's sad story is doomed from the start. His mom sacrifices so much for him to try to achieve better, and yet that sacrifice turned her to doing shady cyberware deals. She dies, David suffers the loss, and after a fight at school decides to get the hardware his mom had implanted in himself. To teach the bully a lesson. He does just that, gets kicked out, and gets picked up by a thief and cyberrunner Lucy. They team up, show off his new tech, and she leads him into a confrontation with who is supposed to have it, her boss, Maine. In a desperate big, David makes a deal to stick in Maine's crew, run with them for one trial job, and that will decide his fate. Of course the job goes to shit, but he shows his prowess well enough. The bonding over his learning is cute character building with the team. Eventually romance blooms with Lucy, and David and Lucy are together. Time passes, shit goes wrong more, and Maine loses it to cyberpsychosis. He cant tell reality from fiction, and is turning on his friends. Its a sad scene, a funeral pyre in his fantasy and explosives in realty. David with the spine implant is able to slow time and live, and it changes him. Time skip, and he is the leader of the gang now. More modified, built up, and leading them all. Lucy is traumatized after an incident in the past, is searching for something. In realty she is led into a trap by their fixer. All of it set up to capture her, and lead David to install the final piece of cyberware, the ultimate test. The team is set up and betrayed to get them there, David is forced to use the system to get them out, and in doing so damns himself. He saves them, fights them all off, and is on the verge of going over the edge to psychosis, churning through immune blockers. With the team the go after the crooked fixer, get to Lucy, reach the final building, and meet their demise, Adam Smasher. A cyberware legend of mythical fame to fights David. Falco gets Lucy to safety as David's final wish, Rebecca is dead, Kiwi died and betrayed them, and David is killed by Adam Smasher. It is gory hell, and emotional. Lucy finally gets her trip to the moon, and has flashes of David remembering him and their date long ago. Its beautiful, and tragic, seeing it all fall apart. To see the world fleshed out and this dark side. Its well done, so well done. | 9 | ONA | 10
| ![]() | D-Frag! Watched English Dubbed. A strange and nonsensical show. I stuck it out, but holy hell i hate how this whole saga begins by essentially kidnapping and torturing Kazama and their friends. Really not cool. For the rest, its a strange game club, and has a few spats with other groups that tend to get them in trouble. Somewhat comedy slice of life. Not my thing, essecially under the pretense of joining under torture duress. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | D4DJ Double Mix Watched English Subbed. A nice combination. A little bit of character development of some of these girls in the other groups. And then one forcing their way in, and using old childhood friendship to try to get a collaboration between the two groups. the other members are on board, so they go along with it. It ends up being a blend of their styles, it doesn't destroy their reputation, and is a wonderful performance. The image of the smoothie blending, and then the creamer or milk poured into the coffee or tea, how they blend together into something new, that is how the idea formed. Its a cool concept to take a fusion style. | 7 | TV Special | 1
| ![]() | D4DJ First Mix Watched English Dubbed. Thank you hololive for showing me this game through sponsored streams, otherwise i never would have checked out this anime. This is a sweet story of one insanely energetic girl who wants to try music and DJing because of a show seen many years ago. She has moved back to japan, goes to her new music based school, and begins accumulating her friends who become a dj-ing performing group. Rinku typically acts as singer and dancer, Muni as VJ, Visual Jockey taking care of visual effects and looks, Maho do the proper dj work and song mixing, and Rei does piano and melodies for them. Its a fun show, and does 3d animation pretty well. It makes use of the other two groups, Peaky P-key and Photon Maiden to good effect as rivals and friends, to make them each push themselves further. The final competition happens, Happy around is knocked out first round against Peaky P-key, but everyone is ok with it. they respect them and care for them. And one final blended performance by all three of these gorups to share the stage together. One final twist, the café they all frequent, the owner of it was part of the DJ group they all saw as kids and they reunite. This is a nice ride, I approve. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Da Yu Hai Tang (Movie) Watched English dubbed. A surprising story of discovery, love, loss, sacrifice, betrayal. So much good mythology in here. Her best friend sacrifices himself s the two may escape and life together anew in the human world. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Dagashi Kashi Watched English Dubbed. An interesting one I didn't expect to like going in but was decent enough to watch through. Learned about different cultural candies of Japan and some origins behind them I never knew about. It does have light fan service and impossible romantic types between some character that are never resolved, but such is teenager life. One part does bother me, how is the brother and sister running a coffee shop themselves, and why is the giant goldfish living in a tiny bowl? | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation Watched English Dubbed. Completed the game first to 100%, then watched this shortly after. It is a fairly faithful recreation of the game. Only a few differences between the two, mostly seeming from either not enough time to go over every possible piece of evidence, or adaptation of a games mechanics (Hangmans gambit). One egregious thing still sticks out to me. Why was Touko's split personality renamed from Jack to instead in this be named Sho (or Syo)? That one is the one strange one that makes no sense to me why it was changed. Otherwise, this was good. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Darling in the FranXX Watched English Dubbed. Wow this is a mixed bad. I knew this show by memes, and had heard the ending fucked things up and caused backlash. Having finally watched it, i understand. The first 2/3rds or so is damn good. A messed up society, slowly puzzling together what the hell is going on, why they exist they way they do, why the fighting keeps going on, so many questions. Also as they are essentially indoctrinated, all these little questions and ways to try and work them out, its interesting to see them explore early romance and puberty without understanding its concept at all. Then, the turning point of the Klaxisaur princess, how they now wage this war with humanity because we are stealing their long dead, who converted to magma energy. That is shit going weird to be sure. Then even more fucked up, Star Entity, the secret weapon of the Klaxisaurs and literally is so damn many of them formed together over time, is meant to be their secret weapon against their real enemy, the VIRM. The virm literally being Papa, who controlled all the human activities from the top, and are a space entity who has consumed so many races, persuading them to leave their mortal bodies and take in endless bliss. After this backfires into a bomb, we end up going to fucking space on one of the Klaxisaur ships to fight the VIRM directly because 02's is nearly nonrespnsive, keeps getting magically hurt, and its because her mind is bonded t the mega weapon. Hiro joins with the mega weapon, and then it all gets fucked. The giant super death weapon robot, now becomes 02, like fully formed features and all. THATS NOT HOW ANY OF THIS HAS WORKED. NO GIANT SPACE WAIFU. They travel through the gate, travel for 2 fucking years and attack the VIRM home world. Detonate the bomb and release so many trapped in their stranglehold. VIRM promises to return in time, and as Hiro and 02 fade, they promise to meet once again on earth some day. Final scene, they do under the sakura tree that's continued to grow from 02's statue, as new children. During all the space nonsense, time passes and civilization treks on to become self sufficient and stop using magma power. The first birth happens, Ikuno keeps the Ex-parasites advanced aging repressed as much as she can, people live on and civilization grows. When Hiro falls and needs help in space, them praying at the statue of 02 SOMEHOW helps, that one is kinda bullshit as well. God the last bit of ending, the last 2-3 episodes really drove this off a fucking cliff to a otherwise sweet dystopian show. | 6 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Darwin's Game Watched English Dubbed. A death game survival anime. Triggered by opening an app on their phone, sometimes sent by another friend or acquaintance, it gives the players a power. Yet puts them against each other in games that often are to the death. Our main character gets involved by accident, clicking on the game that was sent by a friend who was in desperate need of help within the game. You cant leave it once in the game, unless you die or the entire game is beat. So Kaname, confused as hell at what is going on, stumbles and barely survives over time. Making allies and not understanding what he can do quite yet. Through his non violent attempts at diplomacy in this violent game, he does pick up actual allies, forms a group, and at the end enforces a game where the game is banned. Their own territory, to try to drive out the game and end it once and for all. They took revenge against the 8 clan, and ended them brutally, with Kaname finally accepting the need to kill. It got dark, but i do wish there was more to it. To see the end of it, who is running the game and why. But no more seasons were made. | 6 | TV | 11

| ![]() | Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku Watched English Dubbed. A decent isekai story. Using the hero getting overpowered immediately, can pick up all the damn skills and magic they see r tr and can immediately max it all out, is interesting but makes many challenges trivial. The only time it wasn't trivial and showed real ingenuity was the deception and recreation of the potions and their vials. Only then, and when a wall of salt chased him to make a fall of steam to counteract it, was it a interesting and thought provoking use of the skills. Otherwise its somewhat generic. Protagonist ends up with basically a slave harem following him around, and with a decent number trying to get into sexual situations with him. This is even more awkward by having the ages of these people confirmed to be 11 as the main perpetrator of antics. Beyond that, its decent but not special. It sets up for further adventure through the letter at the end, but if it doesn't happen, no real loss. | 6 | TV | 12

| ![]() | Demi-chan wa Kataritai Watched English Dubbed. Cute story about cute girls. Really I see it as a story of fitting in and dealing with disability / the realities of life and what make us different. Each of the main girls has their own differences, they have unique abilities and disadvantages. They need help and to be catered to to an extent, but have found a way through life dealing with it. Now the teacher sows great interest, helps them, helps them build a support network of friends in each other. Treats them like everyone should. It touched me. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Dennou Coil Watched English Dubbed. This is a strange show. The first half established the world and some of its oddities, trying to set up the mystery. But it just dragged on and left me ready to ditch out. Then at the halfway point it amps up and the true mystery is starting to be revealed. That got me hooked and interested again. Strange ending with the brother being dead all along, and the other side being created as a healing space for her to cope with the death. But from it, that dark side was created when Yuuko wandered into it, and a kiss with the brother happened. The final battle and last few episodes truly amped it up and the stakes, and i loved it. So boring first half that dragged on too long, great last half. Hard to recommend, but id just barely put this at a 6.5 or 7. | 7 | TV | 26
| ![]() | Devil May Cry Watched English dubbed. This is a strange show. Mostly just individual episodes, self contained of fighting one demon or story of a demon. Dante being a badass like this, or with a partner at times. Only 3 episodes form a "plot". Getting the child sidekick to begin with, and then the last two episodes linking the child, the child's mother to the end of the world demon power fight thing. Its decent action, but strange for sure to see an adaptation like this. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Devilman: Crybaby Watched English Dubbed. Humanity is tricked into turning on itself. Lucifer, Satan, whatever you wish to call him, he was the center. He was reborn, and led the rebirth and resurgence of demons, turning akira into one. Yet it backfired, creating a war between the other devilmen of the world and the demons proper. 123 | ![]() | Digimon Adventure 02 Watched English Dubbed. Finally watching it in its entirety after all these years. Seeing it now, wow there are a lot of plot holes, hand waving, stuff never being properly addressed, and deus ex machina. Along with using about 1 to 2 minutes of reused digivolve footage an episode, the stories are somewhat bland. Some interesting characters here and there, return of the old original digi destined at multiple points is great, but the last 5 to 10 episodes throw so much away. Having Oikawa, friend of Cody's deceased father, come out of no where and be the main villian behind so many things was quite a shake up. From being the root cause of Ken going digi emperor and trying to redo the exact same thing with dark stores, to using the control spires, to the creation of Aruchenimon and Mummymon. He did all this, but it is actually Miotismon, from the original Digimon series, living within him and doing all this. In the alternate reality where wishes can just happen if you believe, Miotismon separates out, reveals everything and causes all the chaos. In the final battle having all the digidestened around the world warp in is crazy, but interesting. Its really crazy and doesn't come across nearly as well because just a but earlier it was saying MILLIONS of kids, and what they show doesn't nearly reflect this. They defeat darkness by getting the power of light, and getting the dark seed kids to believe in themselves and have digimon appear for them. Oikawa, feet from the digital world he longed to be in and with his own partner digimon waiting for him, sacrifices himself into pure energy to protect and restore the digital world. Finally, epilogue of 25 years later of them as adults and with kids following in their footsteps, seeing how their loves all worked out. Its interesting but holy shit is it jarring compared to Digimon Adventuire tri and likely causes so many continuity and canon problems. Overall its ok. I know its a kids show designed to sell toys and cards, its fine, has good lessons for kids in it, but so many plotholes and deus ex machina out of fucking no where. | 6 | TV | 50

| ![]() | Digimon Adventure tri. 3: Kokuhaku Watched English Dubbed. God damn this was emotional. The Digimon are dealing with knowing they are infected and likely going to go berserk and hurt their friends. Then they become aware of the likely need for a reboot, meaning their memories will be erased, essentially like death to them. They handled it all really well. | 9 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Digimon Adventure tri. 4: Soushitsu Watched English Dubbed. Another fine addition to the series, but this one seems lesser to me. Yes it reveals key plot points that the reboot was in a way a trick, part of anthers scheme to turn Genai evil, and use Meikumon. Yes it brings Tapirmin back from his sacrifice. Yes it shows the rejection of Tapirmon / Yokomon from their respective former partners and the hurt of that. But beyond that it didn't have nearly as much impact to me, strangely. Its still good, but not as impactful as the others have been. Also how the hell did Mei get there? Working theory for me is either she was there at the creation of the digital world reboot.... somehow. Could have been transported to the digital world by different means than the rest of the main group slightly after their arrival. Or, as a crazy theory, there are now two Mei's . One all digital world one human world. Who knows. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Digimon Adventure tri. 5: Kyousei Watched English Dubbed. This ranged from meh, to boring at parts and lazy, and finished out with a solid fight sequence with some decent emotion on the end. I hope the ending actually makes it good and works, but i have no idea any more. | 5 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Digimon Adventure tri. 6: Bokura no Mirai Watched English dubbed. Painful as it is Meicoomon is gone. She had to go for her memories to unlock everyone else's and for the world to be saved. There are solid fights in this, solid emotions, but i wish we could have had real stuff with the other captures digi destined and King Drazels story line went nowhere, is maybe a fake digimon emperor guise, and then is ended off screen in the flash forward. Its sad how downhill this all went from the first and second strong openings, but that is partially nostalgia. The production went waaaay downhill. Im glad it finally wrapped up, but it really needed to be better. | 5 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | DNA² Watched English dubbed. Not my general style of show, being romance driven mostly / trying to prevent said romance. But it is interesting that overpopulation got so bad that it was needed to send someone back in time to stop it from happening. Except she likely caused it in the first place (time paradox). And that with the ending of the playboy part being mostly under control, the entire future would have changed and fuck knows what she is time traveling back to then. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | DNA² OVA Watched English Dubbed. This does give a final conclusion to the story. Some future asshole used the mega playboy thing t control him and all future descendants, s he can do what he wanted. Mega playboy / Junta rebelled and way able to fight off the control. Asshole is seized by proper authorities. Mega playboy is eliminated with the bullet that was forgotten from allll that time ago and it all ends. Hell if i know what they are allegedly going back to in the future because 100 years difference, everything would be different and likely they may not exist. | 6 | OVA | 3
| ![]() | Dororo Watched English Dubbed. This is an amazing anime and unlike anything I have ever seen before. How far will someone go? For the lord, he sacrifices his own son to demon gods for the prosperity of his land and people. For the sacrificed child, he lives on and his desire to live and reclaim that which is his fuels him. Going from a baby just born, and having nearly everything taken away is a horrifying and gripping turn. No legs, no arms, no skin, no eyes, no nose, no ears, no nothing but a skull with a layer of muscle over it that yet lives. The midwife saved him, putting him to fate taken down the river, and he is saved by the prosthetics maker. To repay his own misdeeds, he builds the boy a body, limps, everything. Trains him, feeds him, helps him, and gives him his name. From there he journeys on his own, to seek out the demon gods in the lands, kill them, and reclaim his lost parts. Dororo, an orphan child tags along and makes for a wonderful way to see the world in the eyes of a child, and act as a moral guide for him. Each episode typically has a story arc with killing a yokai, the demon gods, or the like. With some good mix up to keep it interesting and plot development, it gets real good. Around halfway through, Hyakkimaru finally reunites with his father and his younger brother, and mother. In chilling ways, all of them turn against him, and seek his death for the good of the land and its people. Battles continue on, fierce tracking down by the younger brother to take out Hyakkimaru, finally culminating in a amazing final fight spanning two episodes. The final demon god gives the arms and eyes to the younger brother and retainers, to fight back with his own limbs as the final insult. In a burning fight, the two retainers are killed, then it is just brother vs brother, with Hyakkimaru being almost whole of body now except his eyes. Bleeding constantly from holding his sword blades (no hilt on them as they were attached to his arms previously), they fight through the burning palace. It is a deep experience, ending in Tahoumaru ripping out the stolen eyes to give them back. Hyakkimaru lives and escapes with Dororo, wile the mother, Tahoumaru and the prosthetics maker die somewhat willingly in the palace fire in penance. In the end, Hyakkimaru sets out to live a new life of peace, and spares his own father that sacrificed him. Dororo goes to get the treasure cashe left by his father to start a civilian run and led state. It is a wonderful ending, and I love this anime. I love it so much I recommended it to a friend at episode 4 of 24. This is amazing. | 10 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. Watched English Dubbed. Holy shit this shows CUUUUTE. First 2/3 or so of each episode focusing on Subaru, his antisocial tendencies, attempts to deal with the cat and real life. With some real plot developments too! The last third is the best by far, taking some of those same scenes, and recontextualizing them and expanding on them with the cats inner thoughts, what it perceives. Its really cute and fun. Having Subaru break out of his shell all thanks to this cat, its wonderful and I wholeheartedly approve. Connections to his dead parents, some running storyline with that, and Haru trying to find him and running out into the storm. The others finding them stuck, if un realistic and just convenient for the plot, was nice and gave wonderful comfy ending. I like it. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Dragon Half Watched English Dubbed. An old 90's OVA that is very much parody and comedy in nature. It plays on breaking the 4th wall, switching art styles to chibi, some lewd implications, and a casualness about death. Best gag is episode 2, the final fight of the tournament, the little enemy having a vendetta against Mink, and mink not having a clue way. He says its about plotting against his father, she claims to not know. He goes and checks episode 1 of the show itself, sees his scenes were cut, so no reason to be mad at her. That is great 4th wall breaking. Its a strange one, interesting to see, but not quite my thing. | 5 | OVA | 2
| ![]() | Drifters Watched English Dubbed. A wonderful and strange idea. Taking heroes, legends, villain's, the most famous of humanity in war and strife. Take them at the moment they are about to die, and instead throw them into another world. In its own way it is a Good vs Evil story, Good supplying the "heroes" of our story, the Drifters. The evil side providing the Ends, whose who seek to destroy, and typically joining the Black Kings Army. Seeing warfare through the lens of multiple different heroic figures of different eras is fascinating. the battle and war tactics they used, the traps they laid, the inspiration and rebellions they led, the innovations in tech they made. This is a wonderful concept of a show, great on its own, but my god do i wish there was more. there are 2 more episodes as their "2nd season" and I have doubts that will wrap up all the loose ends. Such a shame it gets stretched too thin like that. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Watched English Dubbed. A wonderful show of the protagonist struggling, being weak, and pushing forward against expectations. Coming together with other misfits and outcasts, and becoming amazing. Yes he does have some overpowered main protagonist characteristics, but by one of the last scenes, apparently he is the grandson of Zeus. That's gonna be crazy and cause amazing power. I look forward to where it goes from here. | 8 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden: Sword Oratoria Watched English Dubbed. A good side story adventure focusing on the Sword Princess Ais, and of the younger magic user Lefiya. It ties in with the main story in key points, showing how and why they became intertwined. Some good character growth, both mains wanting to push themselves to be better, expanded lore and focus on some side characters of the Loki Familia, this is good. It also takes up an entire side adventure of unusual monsters, odd monster crystals form them, and their source. Its coming from a monster hybrid, a Corrupted Spirit that knew Ais's mom. This will likely come up more further in the story, and I like how this is playing out. Gods and their capricious whims, playthings in this eternal dungeon. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II Watched English Dubbed. A decent continuation. The season focuses on 2, maybe 3 major arcs of events. 1st, the war with the Apollo familia. Insults at a bar lead to this declaration, attacks, and a war game. Bell trains to get stronger, and his friends switch to be in Hestia's familia. This is major and i have no clue why Bell doesn't react with ANY shock or surprise that they changed in such a way. Fuck fuck it, castle siege. The battle is cool, Liliruca infiltrated them as a spy and misdirects them in some ways. Its cool. On winning, Hestia makes the familia disband, takes their stuff, and band Apollo from returning to the city. Justice is served. 2nd arc, the Ishtar familia. Pleasure distract of the city, prostitutes and all, is the Ishtar family business. Bell gets separated, finds a fox girl and talks with her. That fox girl is who the new samurai friend was looking for. In trying to get the fox girl back, Ishtar wants to capture Bell to have all to herself. And a second plot is uncovered because Hermes cant keep his mouth shut. The Killing Stone, a ritual to kill the fox girl, store her soul in the stone, then shatter it and any wielder of a shard can use her power. Its incredibly fucked up concept, and Freya familia fights back and stops them. In a surprising twist, Freya fucking kills Ishtar, sending her back to heaven and apparently they cant return. Last little arc, Hestia getting kidnapped by Ares. Rescue operation to get them back, Hestia falls off a damn cliff, Bell falls too, Ais goes after them to help. They all end up in a small mountain village, Hestia is healed up over time, and the old man of the village tells his tale. He used to love a goddess, who sacrificed herself to save him, and in doing so she returned to heaven as well. He dies while the party is at his bedside, and Bell accepts loving his goddess Hestia rather than being distant to her. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II OVA Watched English Dubbed. This starts out as a "quest" that is treated more as a vacation for the Hestia familia. Finding an exotic plant on an island. The first half is mostly fanservice, delusion, beach and swimsuit episode stuff. About halfway through we find Ais, who also is here but shouldn't be. She has a bump on her head, but its actually a mushroom. Over the rest of the episode people get temped to search for the flower they are here for, see it in a pool of water, and with it a great desire of theirs. A forge for the smith guy, hot springs for the samurai, a perfect secluded bathing spot for the elf. All temptations. And when taken, they fall and get mushroomed. Their minds go strange, until the mushroom pops off, and they are now the small mushrooms? Then it feels like Bell's delusions, maybe with his own mushroom affecting him, as every enemy shows up to challenge him, and a volcano erupts out of nowhere. It cuts back to the city, and 2 girls from the previous Apollo familia are talking with the god requesting the flower. The one that gets omens and dreams is reporting about this happening in her dreams. People say she worries too much, as Bell comes in with a mushroom on his head. This is a drug trip of an episode, combined with fanservice. Its strange as hell, and not good. | 4 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka II: Past & Future Watched English Dubbed. A good recap of the first season, a nice refresher. Goes over the major story points, characters, and progression. It is presented with Hestia and Bell talking over and re calling these adventures, with a little bit of commentary on top of the scenes from the show itself. Little is added, but its fine. | 6 | TV Special | 1
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka III Watched English Dubbed. Holy hell Wiene is cute and i love watching her interactions to learn about the world. I think this is the best of the entire series by far. The entire season, all 12 episodes is a massive arc about the Xenos, monsters who have attained intelligence, and want a peaceful life among the others on the surface. Bell and the gang get dragged into this, and played as pawns among the gods back and forth. First being sent on a mission to take Wiene down to the 20th floor, when no one should have known about her. The guild knows, through Ouranos and Fels, and set Bell and company to help them. They make contact, are attacked by the monsters, but it is only to show they will protect Wiene and then stop. Fun is had and introductions are made. At the end, Wiene is handed over to the Xenos, as she protests and doesn't want to leave Bell. Then everything goes wrong. The Ikelos Familia strikes, seeking to capture the monsters and trade them on the black market. The reasoning comes out later as being for funds to complete the labyrinth Knossos. Some die in the fight, the others are captured. In retaliation, the Xenos attack the safe haven of floor 18 Rivira. They attack, trying to retaliate, and free their fellow friends. Bell and other families are dragged into this then, with Ganesha family being forced to take this on. The monsters are Xenos, and don't actually want to kill, but do defend themselves. Here we finally see the big minotaur boy show up, Asterius, and he is glorious. Through a trap for the Xenos, and some help from the elf friend for Bell, they all enter Knossos. There they see the extent of their captured and tortured brethren, and free them. Dix shows himself, explains his connection, the cursed bloodline to make this damn labyrinth, and how he just doesn't care but has this compulsion. With some magic he turns the monsters against each other. Bell seeks to fight him, Dix rips the stone out of Wiene's head and she reverts to her monstrous form and rampages. With his show of love, Bell helps overcome the spell on the others, and lets the lizardman also join the fight against Dix. The dix fight finally ends, with dix dying to Bell and the minotaur, but everyone has to chase after Wiese in her rampage monster form out onto the surface. Bell defending her when he should be killing her earns him the ire and hatred of almost everyone, guild and public. Wiene is ambushed in a stadium by so many mages, the ground collapses, and one of the Knossos guys throws a blade through her, and she dies in Bells arms. It is heart wrenching, and i love it. For this hell, she is brought back by Fels, finally making use of his powers and feeling fortunate in this one way. She is back to normal now, finally, and the Xenos escape into the sewers. Final part, the giant escape plan to free the Xenos and get them back into Knossos. Many magic items, many misdirection's, many friends helping, and many great moments here. The battle with Ais is the big highlight, for having a philosophical fight to treat them as human, and Ais just not understanding until Wiene comes back to try to save Bell. She declares her a monster for her claws and wings. So... she rips off her claws and bleeds everywhere. Then rips off her own wing, and collapses. Ais is horrified, as is Bell, and the fight stops as she cant hurt her after she made that sacrifice. She is healed with a potion from Ais, and the final act to escape happens. Hermes fucks them all over, trying to demand Bell go back to killing the monsters and setting some of them up as a sacrifice for Bell. Still even then, Bell refuses to kill them and they escape in the mayhem of when Asterius shows up for his final giant fight with Bell. Apparently, he is the reincarnation of the minotaur Bell beat all that time ago, so this is his vendetta to get even with Bell. The fight rages, and many people and gods prevent anyone from helping, leaving it all on Bell. Even so, Bell loses in the end, broken but alive. Asterius calls them even now, and says their next fight will be their last when next they meet. The Xenos are saved, Hermes deception was thwarted, and Bell is a hero. This is the best damn arc i have seen of this show and is beautiful. | 10 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka III OVA Watched English Dubbed. A new bathhouse and natural hot spring ahs opened in the city, and everyone is flocking to it. Claims of health benefits from it are abound. Bell gets kidnapped and dragged away when leaving the bathhouse by members of the Miach familia. They plead their case and want help to investigate the bathhouse. The bathhouses owner shows up and makes an insulting gesture of a 10% off coupon for 3 of them and free food. The Miach familia is upset, as it is their plans and idea for the bathhouse that was stolen, yet there is no natural spring below it so it is impossible. Hermes was listening in the whole time and a plan is concocted. Bell, Welf and Hermes sneak in to the women's side of the bathhouse, causing a ruckus and commotion. Meanwhile others infiltrate the backrooms while staff is distracted and discover the true secret. Some lewd shots and embarrassment happens, waters to dissolve clothing is used as a defense in the backrooms. The overzealous god bursts his own main pipes when preparing to battle, exploding the whole place and defeating himself. Everyone ruses past and sees the source, the best healer of that clan bathing in water, and her holy bathwater is what everyone is using and being rejuvenated by. Her embarrassment at this, she makes the whole place explode. Its actually a decent story, not just about peeping. | 6 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka IV: Shin Shou - Meikyuu-hen Watched English Dubbed. Two major parts to this, and it is also split to be a half season. One, against the Mosshuge, a monster from an earlier floor that made its way down here somehow, and has been consuming the magic crystals of creatures, growing stronger, smarter, and being able to infect adventurers with plants. A hellish expedition to deal with it, and a great fight, with Bell getting better and better. And a new Xeno friend, the mermaid. Second arc, while recovering on a safe floor, a murder happens. All the adventurers get riled up, accusations fly, and accounts of the "Galewind" fleeing the scene are said. This is Bells friend, the elf who lost their entire familia, and to see them turn murderer is very difficult to believe. An "execution squad" is mounted to hunt down the Gale Wind. Floor 25-27 is where everything major goes down. One surviving asshole of the group who killed Galewings entire familia survived, harbored vengence, and led this entire plot as a trap to kill galewind and tame a beast to kill her with. What killed her familia, all that time ago, was meant to be forgotten, was never recorded, but causing so much damage to the dungeon all at once makes a being spawn to destroy all on it, rather than healing small damage. Setting off so many bombs triggered it, and it goes on a rampage through every adventurer it finds. The asshole tries to tame it, and is killed a moment later when ordering it. Good. Bell is in a hell of a fight against Juggernaut, the thing that spawned, and actually doing decent. But its just not enough. The controlled snake comes form the tamers call earlier, comes to eat Galewind. Bell and Gale are swallowed and it burrows between floors. They kill it from the inside and end up so much deeper, floor 37, the White palace, with just the two of them and badly hurt. The rest of their party were at the entrance to floor 25 when the floor boss was summoned. Shouldn't be possible on this time frame, but all the rules are thrown out when the dungeon is defending itself. Part two will see what the hell happens here. | 7 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka IV: Shin Shou - Yakusai-hen Watched English Dubbed. Picking up right from Season 4 Part 1, this is a story of two halves. Of Bell's adventuring party of Liliruca, Aisha, Tsubaki, Welf, Chigusa, Cassandra, Ouka, Haruhime, Daphne, and Mikoto. Many being borrowed from other familias, but they are the ones who were in the party when everything went so very wrong and Juggernaut was summoned. When juggernaut escaped, they were still heading down, debating what to do. Then the floor boss of the level was summoned, and they were trapped in with it until it was defeated or they died. they were under equipped, unprepared for the spawn that should have been impossible, and had many fewer people than they would like. Still, through crazy tactics and determination, all managed to live through it, and escape the boss. In running out of resources, Welf takes a desperate play to forge a new magic sword while in the dungeon and have the party fend off the monster spawns as this forging happens. In doing so, he finds why he fights, who he seeks to defend, and his craft is made so much better. It seems to make an unbreakable magic sword, and is very overpowered in keeping them alive. Even so, they struggle against endless monsters, until Xenos, the friendly monsters, show up to help assist, and the cat girl maids from the restaurant on an adventuring party trying to help Gale Wind and Bell. They are lead to the 37th floor, down the hole the snake burrowed, and with the help of the Xenos, they find Bell and Gale Wind. The other half, is all of Bell and Ryuu "Gale Wind", their hell down on the 37th floor. Just the two of them, with little supplies, exhausted, injured, and going through hell. Monsters are constant, and actually kinda smart here. It is a labyrinth, and they dont even know the right way out for a while. Through this trauma, the two bond, grow close, and we learn about Ryuu's backstory, of how her familia died, and the trauma of it she carries. She lashed out to seek her own justice, but grew numb and detached over time. With the very thing that killed them reemerging, that fear and trauma has all resurfaced again. The final fight in the cave, the new Juggernaut having incorperated parts of monsters on the floor to compensate, is wonderful and fucked up. They have to be so hurt, go through so much pain, use the very spell that she previously had to kill her friend with and tried to kill this with, and each of the orbs becomes her friends to guide her. Beautiful. The two halves reunite, they are transported up and healed. Ryuu has gained some confused feelings for Bell, from their shared traumatic experience, from him saving her after she tried to throw her life away, and maybe romance will bloom? I loved this. | 9 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Movie: Orion no Ya Watched English Dubbed. The story of a god, and her need to die. Artemis is the main focus of this movie, and through twists and turns moves the plot to where it needs to be. Her physical form is the bit of herself in the spear that Bell pulls, so he becomes her champion for the mission. Little do they know what this mission is. To journey out, and kill a beast that has ensnared Artemis's physical form. Its seal has been broken, and its very presence corrupts life around it. The only hope is to use the spear, the last bit of Artemis left, to destroy her own form and end her suffering and this threat. While sad, Bell manages to do just that and grants the death Artemis asked for. They meet in a brief connection as Artemis passes on, saying that she will reincarnate eventually, as will he, and they will find each other once again and catch up on thousands of years of love and stories. This is pretty good, and has Artemis and the other gods masking what they know for most of the time. drip feeding when needed. A real guessing game. I wish we knew more about how Artemis was caught by the beast, but otherwise this is a wonderful tale of sacrifice and heroes. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka OVA Watched English Dubbed. After a very brief fight, Hestia kicks a rock and uncovers a new area in the dungeon. Uncharted, they explore and discover a perfect hotspring within! And it immediatelly desends into lewd jokes, fanservice, trying to sneak peaks, refusing to get out of water because boner, and then CLOTHES MELTING to cause more embarrassment. Its a fanservice episode through and through, with little to no plot to add to the story proper. Interesting to have anglerfish enemies here living / guarding it, but the boss went down in 2 fucking attacks. So weak. Fanservice episodes aren't my thing, but i will give them credit for the hot spring ritual being taken from shrines (bow, bow, clap, clap, monetary offering). | 4 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san Watched English Dubbed. Wow this is a complex and great story. Coming from a assistant to a great director, and being given their big break. Gene now gets thrust into the spotlight to direct the movie Pompo wrote the screenplay of. This is his test, to see if he is truly great. A legendary actor is brought in, and a complete nobody that the part was written for. Its wonderful to see him directing and making his own decisions, being decisive about it. Editing is the final section, and he pushes himself to the limit. To cut out so much work you just did. To cut so many good scenes. But he has a vision in mind, to make it all for Pompo. So it is the perfect movie for her. To be perfect for her, to be the true vision, its mission something. It is missing a scene to complete it. He needs the cast back together, a difficult process, and because of missed deadlines with this extra scene investors pull out. An old school acquaintance is in the bank, goes behind the banks back to make financial statements and assessments about this to pitch to the board, and very much breaks some laws to STREAM the investment meeting to the world. But it gets approved by the company president, and it is saved. With this vision in mind, and new financial backing, Gene pushes himself too far, gets hospitalized, leaves the hospital by ripping out his own IV line and continues editing to the end to push it. He finishes, and it is glorious. It wins multiple awards, everyone continues on, and it is Pompo's perfect movie at 90 minutes exactly. This is multiple levels of meta. This anime movie was made by a studio. The film is about movie making, editing, the whole process. And there is the movie that is being made within the movie itself, Meister. I love how it explores this, and gives insight to these roles. I think this is a beautiful film, and I love it. | 10 | Movie | 1

| ![]() | Emiya-san Chi no Kyou no Gohan Watched Subbed My god this show is cute. Cute seeing the characters peacefully interacting in normal-ish life, not killing each other. And the music, they go HARD, didn't have to but it just adds to it so much. Using culture of japan, meanings behind some foods, and mythology of some act of the heroes in some connections. Wow they went above and beyond with the Fish of Knowledge reference. Just so wholesome, detailed in the food prep enough where you cold probably follow along and cook it as well. They truly cared when making this, and it shows. | 8 | ONA | 13
| ![]() | Ergo Proxy A strange show that at many points was very hard to follow. Autoraves becoming autonomous and freethinking on their own through a "virus". The mysteries of the Proxies. The split of Ergo Proxy and Vincent Law. The ending destruction of the dome, leaving the world to struggle on its own out of the domes on their own, without the protection of control of Proxies (except we know at least two more exist?, and likely many more). Lots of confusing points and mindfuckery, but it really does make you think. | 7 | TV | 23
| ![]() | Eromanga-sensei A strange bonding show of Brother and sister (step), the brother developing their writing career, sister helping them with somewhat lewd illustrations by means of an online persona. Eventually devolves into many of the girls wishing to have a relationship with him and goes south fast with little challenge or development. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Eromanga-sensei OVA Watched English Subbed. 1st OVA: Less creepy than the normal show, as its focusing on the "rival" and celebrating them. Yes it does have one creepy moment of her getting our main male to help her unzip her dress, that awkwardness obviously happens, but she is ok with it because this is who she loves, even if he does not return the feelings. It des have some profound messages about standing up to parents, and being true to love and what you want. I do commend it for a good message. OVA 2: Sagiri has to take care of her sick step-brother. Normally she never leaves her room, so seeing her push herself for the sake of nursing Masamune is sweet. Seeing her try to cook, get deliveries, even just going downstairs is its own battle. Its nice to have her learn just a bit about how pampered she truly is and help another. Only one somewhat creepy scene, of wiping sweat off his back, but that makes sense as he is sick and changing. | 6 | OVA | 2
| ![]() | Evangelion Movie 1: Jo A good retelling of the first part of Evangelion. Will watch the other parts of the retelling. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Evangelion Movie 2: Ha Radically different from the anime version. New characters, so many things changed and shaken up. I want to see where the hell they go with this. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Evangelion Movie 3: Q This has definitely gone in a direction I did not expect. Shinji caused the 3rd impact, merged with the EVA and caused so much shit to go down. He was put in stasis and a 14 year time skip happens. During which time, NERV has fractured into two groups, those fighting against the destruction and those trying to cause the impact... apparently. Very odd one, not quite as good as previous 2 movies, but just by a touch. I do hope the final movie comes out soon. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Eve no Jikan (Movie) To see beyond the border of human and robot and see them as equal. To present a place where it is unknown which one those around you are, and be ok with that. To get to know them as equals, learn their side and feel for them. Its a wonderful thing. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Fake Watched English Dubbed. An interesting story, of gay romance, cockblocking, and murder. Dee loves Randy, but randy is very reluctant to return that love farther than a kiss. They are on vacation oversees, away from the cop life. The cop life finds them as they find a dead woman floating in the lake and begin the mystery. This same place has had a few different incidents, first the owners kid died to japanese tourists, then many japanese keep dying here. Putting the pieces together, his partner back at the hotel is in danger, rush off to save him. That partner is fighting with the owner and chef while drugged up, barely holding him off as the drug wears off and he spills his whole plans of hatred to kill all japanese for what they did to his girl. Ghost girl shows up to stop the final blow, and he gets taken out by the motorcycle coming in through the window. He is arrested and seems to have realized the error of his ways, and has the cops burn the portrait of the girl as he is arrested. A strange tale, some attempted romance elements built in but not great, and a vengeful father taking things way too far. Decent, but not great. | 6 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Fate/Apocrypha So many servants, so many stories to tell. I think this honestly may be better than the normal fate series for all the twists and turns, the new characters and their interactions. I do really like it that much. | 8 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Fate/Extra: Last Encore Watched English Dubbed. This is a confusing mess of a show. Fate is already complicated enough, then making it 1000 years in the future, run in simulation by a AI computer, with the last remnants of humanity, just adds so much more wtf factor. In concept to work up the layers, stratum as they call them here, is cool. Our protagonist however is unique, as they are an amalgamation of all the dead former masters, with spurts of their memories as well. This leads to flashbacks and some confusion for sure. The battles are alright, but not nearly as good as proper fate series. Nero has grown on me as a little energetic and happy Saber, prideful and tragic in her own way. 2 things really stand out to me as bad though. 1, the entire 4th stratum is skipped and unmentioned. End 3rd, and then elevator ride to 5th. 2nd, the show as it stands ends on a cliffhanger, ending the 6th and about to go to the 7th. I know there is an OVA, but this should have been main show material. I really hope it has a decent ending, because right now its a bit of a confusing mess and a letdown. | 6 | TV | 10
| ![]() | Fate/Extra: Last Encore - Illustrias Tendousetsu Watched English Dubbed. The continuation and finale of this series. At least it did get a proper end.... even if it is very strange and convoluted, and relying on weird philosophical arguments to have the main villain make sense. I cant even understand half of what happened, not gonna try to process it. We go to 7th floor, big fight with the knight and master who have been here 1000 years, and Nero and master lose. Kicked back down to the lowest level. They deus ex machina with the book mark their way back up and round two fight and win. On this win, they go up to the final level, and get to meet our antagonist making all this happen and preventing it, trying to destroy it all now based on twisted ideology and philosophy even i don't follow. Through some sacrifices and all out attacks, our heros win, and the embodiment of death sacrifices itself so humanity may get another chance again. Good idea but holy fuck is it convoluted. and is that a reincarnation of Rin at the end? Maybe? | 5 | TV | 3
| ![]() | Fate/stay night 1st started Aug 26, 2015. On hold after ep 1. until this time. | 7 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Fate/stay night Movie: Heaven's Feel - I. Presage Flower Watched English Dubbed. A solid start to another path down the Fate franchise. Some things are glossed over, this one seems to focus more with Sakura. Good battles, and some fucked up implications. I like it so far. The looming mystery of what the fuck the tentacle creature is, what its doing, this new assassin, and the strange beings that look's like an amalgamation of those tentacles into a vaguely humanoid form, its a lot to speculate on. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Fate/stay night Movie: Heaven's Feel - II. Lost Butterfly Watched English Dubbed. Wow this covered a lot of ground. Few servants by the end of this movie. The shadow thing is the holy grail, a manifestation of it, implanted in Sakura by the asshole grandpa 10 or so years ago as a tiny fragment. And now its become this abomination. Sakura's arc in this part is incredible. Tragic, but incredible. Being scared, finally taking the plunge in a creepy way to confess her feelings while in her underwear and when confirmed to decide to make love there. Then finding out how she was abused, and the parasites' living in her that will fuck her up for life. So much fuckery, I just feel bad for her. Looking forward to the final part and the resolution behind this shadow stuff which might now be shadow Sakura? | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Fate/stay night Movie: Heaven's Feel - III. Spring Song Watched English Dubbed. The end of the movie series, the Heaven's Feel Route. Many emotions and damn good fights throughout. The hell Sakura has gone through, the origins of the Grail and the three families creation to make the war. Many reveals here, and through it all, Shiro and Rin both wont kill Sakura. they care too much, and want to save her, even with all she has done. In the end, its just what they do. through hell, they do save her, rescue her, and Shiro fights the priest at the end. To either release the great evil and let it be born into the world, destroying all, or Shiro winning and stopping it forever. Shiro finally wins, and seems to die. Apparently his soul was recovered or captured, as the Tosaka's gave him an artificial body, and Shiro is back. Life movies on, Shiro, Sakura, Rin, Rider, they life together and life caries on in this new grail free world. It was quite good. | 8 | Movie | 1

| ![]() | Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works A solid 1st half, we shall see how the rest work out. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season My biggest complaint is the bullshit deus ex machina of Archer showing up... after hes already been killed. BECAUSE REASONS. BECAUSE WIBBILY WOBBLY TIMEY WIMEY. It really pissed me off that that is what they resorted to. The rest, pretty solid.I do like the internal struggle of Archer/ Emeia, and their lines of reasoning. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season - Sunny Day A fine alternate ending. Both work well, but this one takes some suspension of disbelief to know you are permanently tied to the summoned companion, them always draining mana to just exist. Still, a nice ending. | 7 | Special | 1

| ![]() | Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!! Watching English Dubbed. As a concept, I like it. Finding people who are depressed and down, and helping revitalize them again. Dealing with mental illness through this medium, its done in an interesting way. What I don't like is all the infinite fan service. That I could maybe deal with, but then so many times it adds in the girls pissing themselves. The magical girl representation on TV when she is captures and usually being sexually tortured. The main leads when they are scared, knocked out by a bat, or in sexual pleasure. Even the small child antagonist at the end. Its really fucked up how often it happens. It really is the weird dichotomy of loving a show for taking mental health somewhat seriously and addressing it in an interesting unique way, vs hating it for the piss and fan service. Without the piss stuff and still with copious amounts of other fan service, if probably put this around a 6/10. With all the piss, I have to put this down to a 3 out of 10. it just takes away that much and comes up so often. | 3 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Flanders no Inu (Movie) Watched English Dubbed. This is a tragic movie. The kid is poor, and the grandpa gets bullied into paying for the dog. Then he is short and behind on rent from the shitty landlord. Grandpa dies. The town turns on him when the landlord blames the boy for the windmills fire, when the landlord himself caused it with his own negligence of not oiling the gears. The boy is then deserted, no one will help them, and they have no money. The art contest is their only chance. He is crushed when he doesn't win. He finds a bag on the side of the road in the snow, and brings it to his friends house he is forbidden to visit because the father holds a wrongful grudge, he returns the money, though he is literally starving to death. He leaves out into the snowstorm again, and end up dying besides his dog, looking at the artwork he so longed to see finally. Even as the father repents and whats to help, even as the landlord is finally shown to be shit, even as another comes to compliment his art and give a scholarship personally, he still dies. This is tragic and i really dont like that about it. I know its kinda the point of it but fuck this is not my style. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | FLCL A crazy random ride. | 7 | OVA | 6
| ![]() | Flying Witch Watched English Dubbed. This is a nice, wholesome anime. Slow paced, but relaxing and comfy. It shows little touches of the magical world, of being a witch, but that's somewhat secondary compared to some life lessons, bonding, and growing. This took me by surprise. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Fractale Watched English Dubbed. Wow this is a strange show. Living in the post scarcity we can all have doppels and do near whatever we want world. The priestess girl tries to escape that, meets our main character, and she hides from Lost millennium and their bumbling bunch. She gifts Clain her amulet, which when he analyzed it later on unleashes Nessa, a energetic child, who may or may not be a doppel? Maybe she only interacts with those that she likes, also she might be data and can disappear. Its complicated. They all get taken in by Lost Millennium, kind of captured, and it all just is so strange. They want to prevent the temple people getting the two of them. Why, we really don't know until the very end and even then its still not clear. So the whole plan is unknown, they are kinda pirates living off the grid from the fractal system and rejecting it. Strange, but to each their own. They view the temple as bad and end up gunning down many believers and temple assistants and guards just to kidnap the priestess lady proper. After much bullshit, they go to attack the temple itself, leading a full assault. Nessa and Phryne, the priestess, after a lot of bulshitting, are sent up an elevator with Clain. A space elevator to some garden place. There, they all watch a video and see that their "god" is a small girl who got volunteered for a data test looooong ago and stuff got based on her. Nessa, was her rabbit stuffed animal, and the song they love to sing of looking up to the daystar was on her radio. Its all fucky. The temple said fractal is failing! so they created clones of the original girl, separated in two halves. When the two combine and fit perfect they believe fractal will be reborn and work anew. They make what is likely hundreds of clones to the slaughter, hoping to make the right one with little tweaks or something. So many lost and killed. In the end the two merge, Clain takes the new merged version down to his house to live with them, Fractal was indeed refreshed and works more. The temple is either destroyed or reeling and floundering for any semblance of control. Lost Millennium is forking the land for food, and just living. Its all just so strange, and fucking weird. I don't approve and don't like it. | 4 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Freedom Watched English Dubbed. Damn, for being a product placement anime for Cup Noodle, this was amazing and touching. A great story of the moon colony isolating themselves off from the rest of earth after a huge disaster happens to the rest of earth. Those in power perpetuate the lie that earth is a barren wasteland, uninhabitable, when in fact it has rebuilt and is very much alive. The kids escape to earth and discover this, with one of them left behind on the colony in order to launch the rocket itself. 2 and a half years later, the two kids who made the journey build their own rocket to come back for the last one. And in turn show the people / government the error of their ways, that earth is alive and well. So many good moments in this, really well done, great art, and touching story. My only small complaint is I wish we could have seen more of how the government (most likely) fell or was replaced, and how the public reacted to the lie. | 8 | OVA | 7
| ![]() | Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited Watched English dubbed. Surprisingly good! A battle between justice, and using money to achieve those same eventual goals. Daisuke's antics of what crazy shit he buys, the tech involved, and how he goes about it entirely sell this show. The back 2/3rds or so of the show plays into one giant mystery building up about an old cold case one of the cops cant let go, that is also connected to Daisuki's moms murder. All this together having crazy twists and turns, a final confrontation, and reveal that it was the grandmother masterminding it all along. She ordered the killing of the mom, abducted the dad, stifled information about it, and then used her butler to impersonate the dad and fuck with Daisuke. In the final gambit, it was about suppressing knowledge of a material more powerful than nuclear based powers already available, and clean. But could be used as a weapon as well in the wrong hands. This moral choice to suppress it as the world wasn't ready and also for profit as its exclusive supplier is what the grandma did. Daisuke opened it up, and sent this info around the world and destroyed the rep of the family company. Haru, Daisuke, and the old gang still fight for justice in their own way, with Daisuke throwing money at problems in flamboyant ways. Now focusing on illegal trading of the new material they have told the world about. Its pretty damn good. | 7 | TV | 11

| ![]() | Gad Guard Watched English Dubbed. This was a strange one and took a long while to complete for me. It had an interesting premise but became stagnant, boring and repetitive in my eyes until the climax. Those 2 to 3 episodes did wrap up a good many things, explained somewhat what the hell gads are, why some of them were split, and why they keep coming. It was ok, but still overall a weak show. | 5 | TV | 26
| ![]() | Gake no Ue no Ponyo | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Gakkou no Kaidan The meme is real. The voice actors essentially got to improvise whatever they wanted. In the end they created a little jew boy, a christen girl, the pervert, the blubbering new kid, the new girl, and the cat that is possessed by a demon. God this is funny. | 7 | TV | 19
| ![]() | Gakkou no Kaidan: Kubinashi Rider!! Shi no Noroi Praise the meme show. | 7 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Gakkougurashi! Zombie apocalypse, and a few high school students, one "teacher", and a dog holed up in a school for survival. One of them, our main character, is ditsy, stupid, and delusional. She truly just believes she is at school, talks to non existent classmates, the nonexistent teacher that helps them, attends class with her, sees the world as still whole. The rest of the survivors group aim to keep her that way, living in her own little fantasy land, and at the same time keeping all of their spirits up with her carefree life. This anime goes with the theory of residual memories, of the zombies going towards what they loved most, were most draws to. That's why more and more kept congregating towards the school and why "sending them home" worked. Its kinda bullshit, but its this versions way. Also fuck them for making the dog die. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Gamers! Not my general style of show, but tried it for the gaming element. It was ok for a while but quickly devolved into mistaken romance stories and jealousy of thinking one person is with another. Or is cheating, while it all actually remains innocent. Not my type of thing, but I'm still surprised how many games they were able to parody or get license to use likeness of. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Gangsta. Watched English Dubbed. Disappointing ending that is never continued. Many build ups and intricacies of their system, the Twilight's, that are just never explained and left hanging. Solid for the first half, but that ending cutoff just sucks. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Gantz A solid series, a wierd "game" for death. A second chance. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Gantz 2nd Stage A weird one. Picks up here the 1st season left off and continues / completes the story. They finally face a giant challenge that claims all but one. At the end, Gantz disappears. The subway line continues on. So either they died and we just don't see bodies, or they presumably beat the game and were teleported away. Ambiguous ending. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Gantz:O Watched English Dubbed. An interesting take on Gantz, a bit of an alternate ending where one of them chose freedom, went about their life, died again at some point and fell right back into the gantz trap again. Damn good action scenes, a bit uncanny valley for the look fo the people but its really well done. My only real problems is how many new things were added compared to the established formula in gantz before hand. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna: Kanashimi no Siren Watched English Dubbed. A 2 episode series, that had a later expansion. In this, characters and names are just throw about rather than introduced. So much happens and it isn't given time to be absorbed. Yuna is a good ditzy pure person battling their version of evil, but my god the justice system is so fucked to convict that easily on so little evidence and deliberation. Still, magical girl / robot. not a combo ive really seen before. | 5 | OVA | 2
| ![]() | Giovanni no Shima Follows the story of the Russian occupation of the northern Japanese islands and lands. The peoples lives being affected form that, deportation, attempts at survival, and all else along the way. It tries to go for feels and emotion, but it just didn't reach me. | 5 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Girls & Panzer I really had low expectation going into this, thinking it would be a stupid cutesy show. But it really has some good strategy in battle to it. Unorthodox most of the time, but still strategy. I do have a few qualms about it though. Why is the school on a giant converted aircraft carrier? Why is Tankery a club when it would presumably be very expensive to run? Isn't it really damn dangerous to be poking your head out of the tank into incoming live fire?! Still, I did enjoy it even with those faults. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Girls & Panzer Movie Watched English subbed as no English dub is currently available. Fighting for your home/ school, but with cute anime tank girls in tank battle. Was really good, and a really in depth match with lots of good tactics, even if some of them are actually absurd (riding along the tracks of a roller coaster in a tank, flipping one tank over purposely in order to make a ramp for another to jump across a gap with). Was a good movie. I like. Still, the whole premise is entirely based on the school guy running things being a scumbag and not sticking to his word of keeping open the school, forcing this whole exhibition match that is wildly stacked against them in the 1st place. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Girls & Panzer Movie: 3-pun Chotto de Wakaru!! Girls & Panzer Watched English Dubbed. A fun little introduction movie and recap of the series and what the sport of tankary is to them. The teams, the crews, its gone over fast but efficiently. Its good. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Girls & Panzer Specials Watched English Dubbed. Swimsuit and beach episode. Pure fan service, with the tiniest bit of history of swimsuit styles thrown in. Camping, all in swimsuits, a bit of swimming, putting up tents, and then making food. Discussion of actual mres is a bit interesting, but again mostly fan service. A surprisingly good episode! A deep dive into the rest of the ship, its history, how its works, the various other facilities being run. They have on board fish raising, gardening, the entire crew side running the ship proper. This is a fascinating episode and I love that it finally has further explanation. 30K people living on the ship, a literal floating city, is crazy big. And yet it says the biggest can be up to 100k, wow. I can even forgive the onsen at the end, its part of japan culture and makes sense to have it on board. The anglerfish dance, with everyone. Its translated to English so I finally understand it. Its just strange. Another amazing episode, like the ship deep dive. This time focusing on a 2 man scouting operation during the Russian match, the standoff in the church. These scouts are in a snowstorm, talk about the history of footwear in warfare, and ways to combat the cold like this. They make a small snow shelter to wait out blizzard conditions, locate the enemy, and in a bold move decide to infiltrate. They grab 2 coats left outside, and approach a lone girl out digging her tank from the snow. With a bit of kindness to her, some cocoa being offered, and forgetfulness of the plan, they are told when the attack is to happen and the formation and arrangement of the tanks. Such key knowledge just handed over. Beautifully done. Finishing off with celebration of their win, the schools teams gather together. Congratulations messages were sent by many, and then a talent contest was announced. The teams cant do their normal thing, has to be unusual to them. They are unique, fun, and I like it. In the end it is rigged, to have the student council, who participated, also choose the winner as themselves. Thankfully the prize is a years worth of potato snacks, so not super amazing but still RIGGED! | 6 | Special | 6
| ![]() | Girls & Panzer: Fushou Akiyama Yukari no Sensha Kouza Watched English Subbed. A surprisingly good and detailed look at the tanks of the show. the real history behind them, their flaws and strengths, why they were made, and some anecdotal tales. It was really good for a history buff like me. | 7 | Special | 6
| ![]() | Girls & Panzer: Kore ga Hontou no Anzio-sen desu! Watched English Dubbed. This was cute, showing the Italian team, and their ragtag bunch. Underfunded, not listening to or remembering orders, fucking up the plan constantly, its both sad and heartwarming they keep trying. Them arriving early, and oversleeping through the end is wonderful. The match was also solid, having tiny tanks that can get flipped over, be manually pushed back and continue is great, but I'm not sure they have any good penetrating power. The feasts are beautiful and extravagant, the team and school living for the food. My only complaint is holy fuck do not stick your head out of a tank and then ask to be "practice" fired upon. Even practice rounds are still gonna shear your fucking head off is they hit. | 7 | OVA | 1

| ![]() | Gokukoku no Brynhildr Watched English Dubbed. A strange show and not everything gets answered by it. Witches, girls who have been implanted with a device that i think is an alien? It gives them powers, based on how each subject reacts. Staff at this facility, on learning whats truly going on, went through with a plan to kill the one who can bring the end of the world, but failed. She escaped, along with many more. Some of them slowly find their way to our main character, help keep him lalive, and form a mutual relationship because he never stops believing this girl is his long lost friend. Through many fucked up occurrences, eventually most of the team is able to escape and have the Lab that made them brought down. The rest of the girls (except the world endy one who killed self), are able to live, even if the main one forgets most things once again. A mostly happy ending with hints of what the fucking fuck about aliens having made them and all this stuff. It was... strange. | 6 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Gokukoku no Brynhildr: Kara Sawagi Watched English Dubbed. A fun silly if ultimately pointless story. After the jealousy of the first kiss being stolen away by a new girl, Kazumi ends up tumbling down a hill with Murakami. She gets hurt, and ends up dreaming the entire episode of the challenges everyone competes in to become Murakami's wife. Some fan service of the hot springs endurance, the terrible cooking competition where the food is bad. And finally massage that goes very wrong and ends up in jealousy and pain, causing Neko to collapse the observatory. Kazumi sacrifices herself/ gets trapped, but it was all a dream and wakes up kissing Murakami (mouth to mouth cpr). She thinks more the competition was silly, buts still wants murakami. | 6 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Golden Boy Watched English dubbed. This is an odd one. The main character is a massive pervert and lusts after women constantly. Definitely don't like that aspect. However, through his actions and good nature, he helps many people and does the right thing each time, selflessness, helping others, altruism, and so on. So its good in that respect even with all the sex stuff. | 6 | OVA | 6
| ![]() | Gosick Watched English Dubbed. This was damn good and better than I expected going in. Early 1900's, coming up to this worlds version of the great war. It starts out simple with a few smaller mysteries, and slowly works bigger and more complicated. About one third of the way in it starts on Victorique's background, the Grey wolves, and from there only builds the mystery further. Why she was conceived, the alchemist influencing it, the political intrigue, Her mother. SO many buts falling together in time, and it becomes a really touching story at the end. | 8 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Gunnm Just not my style. Pacing was really janky and many things left unexplained. | 5 | OVA | 2
| ![]() | Gyakusatsu Kikan Watched English Dubbed. A interesting political thriller and espionage story, told through the lend of a supersoldier for the US government. Working behind the scenes to attempt to catch a killer who is inciting genocide somehow. Through its many layers, its an interesting one, even if the end result of a "genocidal organ" of a leftover function of humanity is a bit strange. The very ending is a strange one. The soldier who learned all this, who is to give testimony to congress and expose it all, decides to do that, but also to plunge America into chaos. Weather this means just by the revelation that this information is out there and happened, its a part of us all. Or be it by using the linguistics to activate the "genocide organ" for America, plunging it into the abyss and saving the rest of the world. I truly dont know which is intended at the end. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Gyo Watched English subbed. I dont even know what the hell i just watched. | 3 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hachimitsu to Clover Watched English dubbed. Super not my style of show. slice of life and little happening of consequence in my mind. Just was really boring to me. | 4 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Hadashi no Gen War is hell. This is one of those movies you watch once, and never again. The horrors of war through a boys eyes as he tries to survive. Seeing so many die, starvation, having to help care for his new baby sister and his mother. Disease and radiation throughout. Its horrible, and something I never want to see again. Its done amazingly well, but... like Grave of the Fireflies, its not something you ever want to watch again. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hai to Gensou no Grimgar Damn this is good. Instead of the norm of the overpowered main character, we follow the misfits, the leftover ragtag band who struggles to get by. Who has to team up 6 on 1 o take down a single goblin to start with. Their journey. Realistic in how simple their beginnings are, how hard it is to get by. Its a damn good one. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Hai to Gensou no Grimgar: Furoagari no Kabe ni Kaketa Seishun - One More Centimeter Watched English Dubbed. A small special, that is a combination of fanservice and moral and ethical debate. The fanservice is mostly light, but achieving it is the entire focus of the special. The debate is interesting in their rationality to try to peek, to justify to themselves, it raining being a sign form god to do this, to split up once viewed and go their own separate ways. Its interesting to see their thoughts though this lens, to be horny boys, but also need their teammates to not abandon them. It is a bit better than most fanservice things because of that for me. It all comes crashing down when in the rain the wall collapses, and the boys are exposed for their actions. Violence from the girls and screams, and end. Its alright, but still not great. | 5 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Hajimete no Gal Watched English Dubbed. This was a strange one. Definitely fan service heavy and meant for sex jokes and lewdness. Yet through it it actually has genuinely discovering romance for the right reasons. There are some fucked up things about the show, the pervy friends are kinda a thing, but especially the one who is very obviously into kids. Its pretty fucked up how often its brought up and everyone kinda knows yea its messed up and he needs to be stopped and jokes about it. Has some surprising culture references, ranging from madoka magica costumes, lines from Aliens, a Donald Trump-esque speech, super sayan power up. So much ridiculousness. I am surprised this was kinda ok, even for the fanservice plethora that I'm not normally a fan of, it actually deals with love in the right way in the end, and defending your partner. No one should be treated as an object, used and tossed aside. He stood up for that and that mattered. | 5 | TV | 10
| ![]() | Hakumei no Tsubasa Watched English Dubbed I will break this down each episode. 1. And immdiatelly tugging at the heartstrings by giving us a main character of a kid in the hospital. He loves pokemon, and the pokemon champion especially. When the chairman visits the hospital, he spends his time making a picture and letter to him, misses him, and is left disappointed. The air taxi turns around meeting the kid on the rooftop, and making a great impression as the crop caring the air taxi loves him. A sweet ending. 2. Focusing on Bea, the fighting pokemon gym leader. Trying to train harder after her defeat to Leon, she pushes herself and her pokemon to the limit. They end up stuck, trapped in a cave and with her phone lost. With some help from her pokemon, they make their way out, and she comes out with new realizations to be a better trainer, and saw the beauty of a crystal cavern. Its nice to see training characterized, and sometimes even to the point of the trainer pushing themselves too hard. 3. Hop and Wooloo, watching the tv match of Leon, their brother, and Bea. Wooloo gets jealous of charizard, and leaves to go on its own mini journey. After a bit of troubles, it eventually gets found by the Grass gym leader, Milo. He sends it back home on the same air taxi we keep seeing in the series. Wooloos special bracelet comes off in the wind, Hop see it, Wooloo jumps down into Hops arms and wonderful reunion happens. Its nice that the pokemon get actual character here, getting jealous in Wooloo's case. 4. Nessa feeling down and out after a loss, gets confronted by the Chairman. He heavily implies she should either be a mode, or a gym leader, not both. She gets angered at this, and gets comforted by Sonia the research assistant. Nessa then goes on to continue her modeling work, and remembers being in this same place long ago, and meeting a Feebas. A rare pokemon that got bulled, and she wanted to ride on its back one day. Here she gets the chance, as she dives into the water and meets the Milotic it has now become and makes the perfect photoshoot with it and bonds. Now feeling amazing she is confident and tells off the Chainmans assistant that she will continue to do both and rise to the top. 5. A day in the life of Oliana, the vice president. Going through what she has to do daily, the hectic work and always everyone needing her assistance or approval. And all on her own without the Chairman for a day. She takes it in stride, but one last thing pushes her into a rant when the air taxi rider uses the wrong words to describe the gigantimax pokemon. She rants, because she is one of the people wo researched it years ago. 6. And the heartstrings again, back to the hospital kids. This time the hospital kids had a fight, and one was released before they could make up. The released one works up the courage to seek out a gym leader and ask on behalf of his friend for a ticket to see Leon. Allister, the ghost type gym leader, is the one he asks. After being scared but working through it, he tells the sad story, and both the ghost pokemon and Allister take pity and agree to help him apologize in person. They make their way back to the hospital, steal from a security guard, make up, and then head back and scare the shit out of the taxi driver again. All in good fun. Final bit, Leon finally gets this letter from the Chairman, and i assume the last episode will tie it all together. 7. Prediction correct, it does tie it all together. The hospital kid does get a letter back... but then oversleeps for the match. Nurse sends him out on the same air taxi, sees Leon down below and they land and meet him. Corviknight takes off with Leon and the kid, they bond, and the kid gets to watch from right behind Leon for the whole fight. It is touching, and Leon makes a promise to the kid to take him on with no holding back next time they meet. Its sweet, and I love it. I love this entire mini series. | 9 | ONA | 7
| ![]() | Hakumei no Tsubasa: Expansion - Hoshi no Matsuri Watched English Subbed. A nice addendum after the other Twilight Wings series. This has Leon, no longer champion, gathering together the best trainers and gym leaders to compete together, showing them off. Its a nice little love letter, but nothing crazy. | 7 | ONA | 1
| ![]() | Hakumei to Mikochi Watched English Dubbed. Holy shit this show is cute. Tiny little people going about their lives, being cute. The adaptations to have them be small and function in the world, the animals ways to adapting, the world it has built is great. So many mini stories, some of them building up new characters and changes. Its wonderfully wholesome and I love it so much. Its slice of life without the forced comedy that makes me hate that kind of thing. This is so my jam and I loved it. | 9 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Hal A story of loss, trauma, denial and coping. Friends trying to all help in their own way, to deal with the terrible situation. They psychology of it and the way the characters feel from it. Its heartbreaking to see, and in the end the twist reversal. Beautifully done. I just wish the red "heart" gemstone that records moments thing was explained more. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hametsu no Mars Watched Subbed. A very boring little short. Any form of explanation is only vaguely at the beginning, and in the last moments. And somehow it makes actions scenes become boring and lethargic. so very strange and uninteresting. | 2 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Hand Maid May The premise started out ok, but damn ti went so downhill. Annoying as hell characters, convoluted time travel shit. Time paradox stuff, that when thought about doesn't make sense of course. So many flaws, Its just a good idea ruined horribly over the series. | 4 | TV | 10
| ![]() | Harmony A horrifying look at technology advanced to its limit. Where it becomes a hell in and of itself. The reasoning of actions, the motivations, god this is good. In the end, she kills her friend, the mastermind of this whole plan, both out of love and kindness. She knows the plan will enact on the world of forced harmony, but wont live to let her friend see that fate, that hell, befall them all. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hataraku Maou-sama! | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Hataraku Maou-sama!! Watched English Dubbed. Not as show I ever expected to get a 2nd season, and with such a release gap (9 years from season 1 to season 2 release), yet here we are. Its a decent show, and some plot does progress along in this season. The introduction of Alas Ramus, the strange magical child that calls the hero "Mama" and Satan "Papa". This strange predicament makes them bond for the sake of the child. She is cute in how she makes them come together and care. A few other plot lines happen over the season. Gabriel wanting and trying to take back Alas, but failing. The fast food restaurant being under renovation, as are their houses, so they get temp jobs somewhere else and those adventures. In doing so, they meet someone who helps sooth and feed the spirits. They reunite with a bird who Satan left in charge, get some info from him from on the other side of what has happened. Finally, the ending and running mystery of the silver haired woman. Its the hero's mom. She is an angel, and the very same one who took care of Satan long ago. She works behind the scenes, things are getting strange but interesting. She, with Satan and heroes help, foiled the angels plans yet again. Its a decent show. Not amazing, but decent. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Hataraku Maou-sama!! 2nd Season Watched English Dubbed. Well the humans and demons unite together and fight against the angels. The angels are the bad guys all along, manipulating humanity to push demons down. Good! Fuck the angels. This is a cute story, and the hero getting to see her dad was a good running quest. the dumb and split plan to go back to their homeland, on scooter bikes, and the various means there, is ridiculous. its not amazing, but serviceable. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Hataraku Maou-sama!! Recap Watched English Subbed. Its a recap the season 2 that came out. A bit of decent voice over by one of the voice actors, and a good overview of the major events of the season. Its nice, but nothing special. | 6 | Special | 1
| ![]() | Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko Watched English Dubbed. The story of Tanukis living their life, and coping with habitat destruction by humans. Trying every method to coexist with humans, scare them off, whatever it takes. At the end, some revert to animistic ways, and others live on their own/ blend in with humanity. They leave some habitat, parks and so on. A small compromise. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hellsing Ending is a little disappointing. Also 100th Myanimelist anime entry. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Hellsing Ultimate Watched English dubbed. My god this is a hell of a series. Perfectly teases plot points, perfectly wraps it all up. Absolutely love it. | 10 | OVA | 10
| ![]() | Hellsing: Digest for Freaks Watched English subbed. A decent recap of the first three episodes of Hellsing, done in better art style, quicker pacing. I like it. This was more a lead in to Hellsing Ultimate when it came out, t act as an in-between, and it is good. Still very much prefer Hellsing Ultimate, but this is solid. Its condensed for 1 episode recap size, compressing down 3 episodes of stuff, I can easily frgive it missing subtle details. | 7 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Hellsing: The Dawn Watched English Subtitled. A fine explanation of early events in the Hellsing story. | 6 | Special | 3
| ![]() | Higashi no Eden | 7 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Higashi no Eden Movie I: The King of Eden | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Higashi no Eden Movie II: Paradise Lost | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | High School DxD Lewd fan service, but it actually was used (mostly) with purpose and story reasons. Honestly a good show about development and growth, even with all the lewd thrown in. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | High School DxD BorN Another solid addition to the story line. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | High School DxD BorN: Ishibumi Ichiei Kanzen Kanshuu! Mousou Bakuyou Kaijo Original Video Just little lewd shorts. No real plot or substance to them. | 4 | Special | 6
| ![]() | High School DxD BorN: Yomigaeranai Fushichou Less perverted than the normal specials, and even has a good story purpose of helping Rizer Phoenix get over his loss to Issei through training. | 5 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | High School DxD Hero Watched English Dubbed. The power of titties compels you! More boobies and grabin dragon. The tatas are used for some story related purposes, but yes its very much fanservice based for sure. Summoning Rias through a new ritual thing, just to poke her tits, to unlock new power. thats the level of crazy the bazongas get to. Its a good show, got some good combat. Got some good characters, but yes the horniness is a bit much even for me at times. Great ending arc of the raiding game. Loved that. Yes it does have Anime main character unlocking new and better forms because the power of BOOBS, and LOVE, and fuck it I need to hit that guy harder! This is a good show, and the love confession after all this time, it was sweet. I liked it. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | High School DxD Hero: Taiikukan-ura no Holy Watched English Dubbed. Apparently the ending of the last season needed to be retconned away so we get this instead. He goes mad with anger over the loss of Asuka, kills the Beelzebub demon, and stays in that raged out state. Only the damn Boobie Dragon song calms him enough, along with a few hits from the white dragon enough to settle his rage, and pressing Remorys boobs breaks it entirely back to normality. Its dumb, but expected from this show. | 5 | TV Special | 1
| ![]() | High School DxD New Still fan service but still a good story continuation. I do like Gasper, a sweet power and the cross dressing. Yet bonding with Issei, it all works. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | High School DxD New: Oppai, Tsutsumimasu! Another lewd special from Highschool DxD. Where the special is all about perversion and some monster being perverted, ending up with all the girls becoming trapped / naked. Yep, its nearly a repeat. Only difference is the villain turns himself into underwear. because reasons. This is just not good. | 4 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | High School DxD OVA A solid addition, though both episodes were heavily sexualized more than normal. | 6 | OVA | 2
| ![]() | High School DxD Specials Almost entirely fan service with little plot. Not nearly as good as the show proper. | 5 | Special | 6
| ![]() | High Score Girl Watched English Dubbed. An unusual show, focusing on the arcade boom of the 90's. It uses all real games, so licensing must have been a bitch to use them their likeness, footage and all that. But it pays off in using them as a wonderful plot device and passion of games. Haruo, the boy, loves games. Makes a connection with Oono, but she has to go away for a while. She later returns, and a kind of love triangle forms between Oono, Haruo, and Hidaka. Hidaka confesses her love to Haruo in the last episode here, setting up for a showdown of their love determined by fighting game match. A strange but fun concept. Only one thing bothers me, does Oono actually talk? is she mute? she makes sounds and mumbles, but as far as i could tell not a single intelligible word. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | High Score Girl: Extra Stage Watched English Dubbed. A good continuation/ somewhat conclusion? to this story. This focuses on the aftermath of the challenge to Haruo, the training by both sides, the entire match they go through in detail. Its good and tense there. Then it shifts to Oono, and the attempts at rebellion against the teacher. With the help of Oono's older sister, Haruo makes a game specially for her to play. She enjoys it for a while, before the teacher finds it and throws it out. Oono is pissed, the teacher goes to see Haruo for herself and apologies and somewhat shittily make it up to him. She allows her a day off and to go to the festival with Haruo, and they get to be happy once again. In the end, the plastic ring from so long ago is again shown to be around her neck and surprised Haruo. Overall, pretty good. One amazing reference I caught, in the end someone talking about now asuka is best girl, and episode 8. The staff got it right, and november 95 is when asuka came out in evangellon, well done to them. | 7 | OVA | 3
| ![]() | Hinamatsuri Watched English Dubbed. A strange story starting with Hina. A odd girl sent from... somewhere? Possibly escaped. And has incredible psychokinesis powers. She appears in the house of Nitta, a yakuza gangster. He reluctantly takes her in, after her displays of power breaking his stuff, if only as a kind of blackmail to stop breaking stuff. Over time they grow, Nitta taking on a fatherly role and caring for her, Hina growing a bit and caring for this new world. Anzu also comes along from the same place, but lands in much less fortunate circumstances. Showing up on the streets, fighting a biker gang, and stealing food to get by. She cant "beat" Hina, so her mission is a failure, yet she cant return because her orb to send her back got ruined. She becomes homeless and lives with homeless colony with the tough life, collecting cans and scrounging up what they can. Its hard, and makes her hard and tough, apricating the little things but also not wanting to indulge in almost anything. Its a sweet and tragic story. She gets a good ending, with the close of this homeless camp, she is fostered and taken in by a restaurant couple and gets to live a good life working under them. She enjoys it, and the couple is shocked at every little hardship she has and ways she's adjusted, every nicety. Its sweet. Finally as a small plot, Mao. She is called in from the same place to bring replacement orb to transport Hina back. She lands on a deserted island in Indonesia, and immediately the balls are swept away in the tide. She makes her own way surviving, and slowly going mad. She has to rough it, and it is a hell of a strain. She makes coconut dolls of her friends, and talks to them to stay a bit sane. She sets off on a raft, until the very end of the series, seeing 3 years later how she has become star of a martial arts school. She still wants and needs to find Hina, and with this final test she easily bests it and is allowed to go to japan to find them again. Finally Hitomi Mishima, a normal girl from middle school who gets wrapped up with a lot of this craziness. TO the point she is blackmailed into becoming a very underage bartender, making good money, and pressured into taking extra jobs, and getting a apartment for herself. Its kind of dark how she's forced into this. Its a surprisingly good and strange show, even if it doesn't have a definitive ending. | 8 | TV | 12

| ![]() | Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen Watched English Dubbed. Urano died, and was reincarnated to a new world and a new life. Taking over the already ongoing life of a Myne, she is frail and suffers frequent weakness that she collapses from, and fevers leaving her bedridden. Through all these struggles, one thing motivates her in this strange new world. Books. Her love of books from her past life keeps her going, as they were her comfort in the other world. To seek out books becomes her motivation. Finding this world does have books, but only for the rich, she sets to making her own and advancing through technology. Using technology and knowledge she had from the other world, she makes improvements and sells them on to merchants for good money. These ventures expand with making paper itself. At the end, the devouring, her disease, is set to kill her. Through a magical item she is spared for a while, but must either accept death or be joined to a noble that will support her. She chooses to live with her family. But fate twists at her church ceremony, seeing a library and wanting to join just to read its books. The priest invites her and her parents, and it all goes terribly when he realizes they are commoners. He tries to seize them. The father defends them, and Myne summons up her power and unleashes her mana in uncontrolled rage at this betrayal. She nearly kills the priest, with another stepping in, calming her down and agreeing to all their demands just to get her to stop. They do stick by the agreement, and Myne and her parents have made important deal here to keep her alive and still retain much of her freedom. I love this adventure, this world they live in, and Mynes struggles. Its a wonderful tale. | 8 | TV | 14
| ![]() | Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 2nd Season Watched English Dubbed. Continuation of Myne's adventures. Focusing on her being a apprentice blue robe priestess now, and the life that now brings. Instead of just a common girl, she now has duties and responsibilities. She is given retainers to serve her. Some were given to act in bad faith, sabotage her, but they are won over and helped. The plight of the orphans at the church is especially sad, and messed up with the churches view of them. However, the Head Priest works to help Myne but preserve the image of strictness. They viewed the orphans and unbaptized children as unworthy, to be left to the gods, to survive off the good graces of the leftovers of the church. But, few cared, and many are implied to have died. Those left are malnourished and starving. Myne and her retainers fix this sad sight, and help them, giving them a bit of employment of a second branch of her workshop so the orphanage is always supplied in the future. The children's picture book of holy scriptures, and the mass production of it, was brilliant. The final two episodes have Myne taking on an important role to purify and replenish the land with her mana after a battle. She is set up with two guards, and the guards of the knight order betray her. From classist ideals of her being a peasant and unworthy, she is attacked, her retainer harmed, and she bleeds, causing the monster tree to also notice and almost engulf her. This classism almost kills her, and only through the intervention of the Head priest, who is also the top knight, is she saved, and discipline handed out for these failings. Ferdinand, the head priest / knight, looks into her mind with a magic item. He finally sees the world she is from, her memories of it, and sees no malice within her. Just a love of books. If she can be directed, her knowledge can accelerate their world in technology. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen 3rd Season Watched English Dubbed. Following up from Season 2, the noble knights who got Myne hurt are punished. The actual attacker is put to death, the one who let it happen is stripped of rank and made Myne's bodyguard for a year. A new baby arrives for the church, and for Mynes household. The new church child was given up, and also has the devouring. Plans are made to try to help the child, but adoption will be difficult. The head priest is recommending Myne get adopted to a trustworthy noble herself, to give her some protection against the ongoing schemes against her. She does not want to be seperated form her family, but it is inevitable. The schemes of the church come out, and through various plots and attempts on Myne and the church child Dirk, it is all revealed. Sylvester, who goes on Mynes trip out into the world, is odd but a friend it seems, and wants to help Myne. In the final act all is revealed. The head priest, an aristocratic noble, their underlings and hirelings, and retainers. All of them are guilty, they attack Myne and almost force adoption on her to the noble. The head priest and Sylvester arrive in rescue, defending Myne, and capturing those in the wrong. Only then, is it revealed Sylvester is the lord of the land, and the head priest is his half brother, and the high priest his uncle. So many connections, and yet to be unbiased, against these great crimes, he orders death for those involved, who sought to control or hurt Myne. In a act of mercy, Delia is allowed to live and is "punished" to spend her days taking care of those in the orphanage and baby Dirk. Finally, to keep Myne safe, her life must be upended. She is to be adopted by Sylvester, the lord, and relinquish her old family. It is touching, each ones final goodbyes, and the name change for Myne. She will be nobility now, and cant really deal with her family again. Books will continue, her real passion, and the story will continue on. I do love this series. | 8 | TV | 10
| ![]() | Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen OVA Watch English Dubbed. Two little side stories. One focusing on agents of the church learning more about Myne, and her neighbors defending her and standing up for her. Also trying to keep her workshop a secret. She seems good, but is certainly not what the church agents expected, and they are not pleased to have to deal with the everyday life of peasantry for the little bit. Finally, the clothes maker. She wanted to see the outfit Myne wore, and the hairpin she made. Negotiations happened after she was so impressed, and Benno negotiated and sparred in commerce with Myne. A great deal was struck for the rights, and exclusivity deal. Little short side stories to explore some small characters and fill out more of the world. Nothing major, but nice. | 6 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo An interesting look at differing thoughts of life, death, gods, and many others things. Many mythological ties here as well. Even so, to me it doesnt feel like the story accomplished what it set out or set up to do. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hotaru no Haka An absolute masterpiece. Emotionally heart wrenching, and I don't get feels too often. This does it every time. | 10 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Hotarubi no Mori e Watched English Dubbed. This is a atmospheric anime, of finding a secret friend in a secret place. The anticipation and want to meet with them, but it is limited to just the brief summers. These meetings, and partings. They seem symbolic of life and love in the themes they are playing into. Gin and Hotaru do care deeply for each other, yet the Mountain God's blessing? curse? makes it so he is unable to touch another human without disappearing forever. A tragic love told from a distance, until it finally shatters after the festival. Gin instinctively reaches to save a boy who is tripping. It turns out he is human, unlike all the transformed yokai at the festival, and Gin begins to disappear. In his final moments, Gin and Hotaru share a loving first and last hug. He disappears, leaving Hotaru sobbing into his clothes. Grief overwhelms her, and it talks about how summer will never be the same for her. This is a sad look at life and death, its partings, and love intertwined with it. Sad, but it makes sense. People can leave our lives suddenly and unexpectedly, and we dont always get to say goodbye. Grief will live with us, reminders of them will stay with us, but we must continue on in our own life. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Houseki no Kuni Watched English dubbed. This is a strange and unique show. Good CGI animation blending is hard to do and make look not shit. And they made it good and constantly used. All of the girls are the gems, and are essentially immortal as long as the pieces are collected and put back together. And for some reason the Lunarians hunt them down, weather to be jewelry, traps, or to combine once again as a whole being. The transformation from spunky and spoiled child to hardened and changed warrior is stunning with the loss Phos suffers. No one being able to be near Cinnabar because she is made of mercury, so many good touches. Still so much mystery remains and I want this to get a second season and figure out that the Lunarians are, and the mysteries. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Howl no Ugoku Shiro | 9 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Ibara no Ou Good art, but many plot holes in this. How does she exist after the death of her sister, who is controlling the system, if she is a construct of her. A better question even, how the hell does humanity survive? No cure has been developed in the past 2 days. They are all going to die. | 5 | Movie | 1

| ![]() | Iketeru Futari Watched English Subbed. A old romance and somewhat lewd series. Saji is constantly chasing after Koizumi. He is lewd and crass in chasing after her and fantasizing about her and some others. But he is dedicated to her and really does love her. Koizumi struggles to accept this, wants to stay distant, and only with lots of time and seeing a few sweet moments of Saji, does she eventually accept it. And in the end, stays here rather than moving to LA, to be with him. Sweet in concept but so much overly lewd things and honestly constant assault by and to Saji. Its a product of the times and of the style of show that considers that comedy. | 6 | TV | 16
| ![]() | Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku Damn this was dark. Starting with abduction of La La Ru from our world back into whatever world this mostly takes place on, incidentally sucking up the main character. Forcing him into child soldier slavery. Trying to retain his morals of not killing or harming others throughout in this hellscape. Then later parts with massacring villages, kidnapping those villages children for more child soldiers, and with one girl heavily implied rape. This is really damn dark and bleak look at war, led by a mad cowardly king. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Inferno Cop Ridiculous in the same way as Ninja Slayer. Not as fleshed out as it though, so slightly lower score. | 5 | ONA | 13
| ![]() | Inferno Cop: Fact Files Watched Subbed. They are just brief previews of the next show. | 3 | ONA | 12
| ![]() | Infinite Dendrogram Watched English Dubbed. A good show, and a wonderful idea for a magic and leveling up system. The world is infinite, and your special skill, your power, gets tailored to you. It adapts and changes with you, grows with you, and reflects you in some ways. It is a vr game, no one trapped in the game, just people enjoying it. People can log out any time, or on death get a 24 hour "ban" as a respawn timer. I like that system. It puts it at lower stakes, just enjoying the game and how immersive it is. A few players really treat the game as reality, the NPC's as real, and care for them. Like our main character Ray Starling. From caring about the little girl in the first episode, to being driven to protect the captured children from the gang consuming and resurrecting them. Its a nice show. Good battles, sweet abilities, and great multi stage fight in the last arc. The big brother bear being some ultimate warrior of the world to help at the end was great. The friend turned tentative enemy, and the bad guy of the end being sisters, but playing male avatars gave a strange but fun dissonance to their characters. Having that explored a little bit for why they play was good. I liked it. Its not the best show ever, likely not gonna get continued, and has many hanging plot threads that will never be resolved, but it was fine. | 6 | TV | 13

| ![]() | Interstella5555: The 5tory of The 5ecret 5tar 5ystem Damn this is a weird experience. an hour long music video experience of a continuous animated narrative. It was good, and very unique. | 8 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Isekai Izakaya: Koto Aitheria no Izakaya Nobu Watched English Subbed This is a decent show, somewhat similar to Restaurant to Another World. A restaurant connected to somewhere else. Restaurant to Another World connects to a fantasy world with dragons and mythological creatures coming from all over to these random doors that exist in their world. Nobu has the shop connect to a much more realistic world, in a big city, and seemingly in Germany. The food and some character stories associated through that food are the big focus. It is well done food and looks great throughout. It builds up characters and personality through reactions. It has a running story throughout the series that comes together at the end. Of the two styles, I do prefer the full on fantasy world, but this is also quite good. The end of each episode is strange. It has a 3 minute segment on either making a dish from the show, or going to a bar for one of the dishes from the show. Very strange, but i guess tie in local marketing to show the bars and restaurants. It was overall enjoyable. | 6 | ONA | 24
| ![]() | Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Watched English Dubbed. A silly power fantasy story of a shut in "best gamer" in a game being summoned to that very game and keeping his powers levels and equipment. The summoners try to bind him as a summon with a enslavment collor, but his ring reflects the magic, making Shera and Rem his slaves going forward. The series follows their misadventures, and Diablo keeping up the demon lord act while being socially scared and emotionally awkward. Its fun in some respects, but yes is absolutely a power fantasy of a stupid powerful main character, and having an ever growing harem of "slave" girls. Combined with just barely PG13 fanservice, its decent. The demon lord being inside Rem, being released, her being cute and not wanting to kill everyone was a good twist. The fallen and the knight working to murder Rem to cause the demon lord to go full evil wipe out everyone mode was fucking evil, but ended well with all the healing potions in the world and the power of friendship. Its decent. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Ω Watched English Dubbed. More overpowered nonsense and new girls to join the pseudo-harem. Now we have the priestess of a religion treating Diablo as GOD. Fighting against the corrupt as fuck church is the main theme of the season, and it does have some good moments. Having to take on the dungeon he himself built long ago, already knowing the tricks and answers, was great. Having the treasury there and getting geared up with the servant he created long ago as well, another great moment. But, that led to the most awkward strange thing i do not enjoy. Horn, one of the new waifus, and many situations to make her very uncomfortable and awkward. She dressed as a man, and was only revealed to be female when being undressed by Diablo from wet clothing. She needed to use the bathroom in the treasure vault, and used a random cup on a pedestal. That "offering" of blood (gross) then gave her power of Babylon. Its unpleasant how all this is done, but I do like the church creep being screwed over finally. | 6 | TV | 10
| ![]() | Isekai Quartet Watched English Dubbed. To be able to get 4 different shows to actually cooperate, get the voice actors for them, and have the writers be good enough to understand and build deep references to each one in their interactions, daaaamn well done. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Isekai Shokudou Watching English dubbed, on recommendation from Reeniko. Its decent, surprising for a show that I thought would focus on food. While that is a main component its also about the characters of this world. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Isekai Shokudou 2 Watched English Dubbed. Wonderful comfy show, beautiful food, and character and world building through this restaurant. It brings people together, treats them, and with the final parts here made marriage and diplomatic alliance happen. I love this. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. Just an average show, wasn't great. Just a harem anime with overpowered protagonist. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. 2 Watched English Dubbed. I am amazed this got a continuation after 6 years. It is a decent show, but yea it is a "trash Isekai power fantasy". A nine girl harem and the overpowered main protagonist, making diplomatic ties by wifing princesses of nations, and being seeded land by these now allied nations to build a tiny nation of his own to rule. Some interesting uses of the overpowered magic system, some cool situations like making a bathhouse for a failing inn. Or the book cafe and the many females who want gay romances to be stocked. Its interesting, but not very deep. It end on having 7 wives locked down, with the other two known, and right beside him, but not yet promised to. This is likely all we will ever see. So the whole "Phrase" enemy is a let down to not have giant battle with them. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Isekai Yakkyoku Watched English Dubbed. A medical researcher of our world dies, and is transplanted into the body of a 10 year old aristocrat boy. Their family is well known for the study of medicine and Pharmacology, and through the use of divine arts, work to heal people. Using his old knowledge, and powers that have come to him in this new incarnation for creating materials, destroying material, and identifying illness and treatments, he sets about helping and growing in this world. Using some real world knowledge of medicines, their names, the effects, symptoms of disease, its nice to throw this in and have him be smart and caring. His final challenge taking full seriousness, facing the black death, bubonic plague, and the states to try to prevent it, are wonderful in how he cares. A good show. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Island Watched English dubbed. The first half or so was just meh to me. Then things started getting interested with the real history being uncovered, going back to the island, Setsuna discovery and the machine. Then time skip, alternate island in a religion society that oppresses people and is a very failing society turning on itself to to survive. The main group escape, half die and the 2 remaining make a pact of love and Setsuna enters the devise to try to change the past. Except its not the past per se, he is in stasis, and wakes up to a new world much like his own previous, because the world is somehow cycling to go though the same repetitions? That shdoul really be the main ok twhat the fuck is happeing point. Setsuna and Rinne reunite, kid learns the truth, happy ending and honeymoon. But seriously one causal mention of the world is apparently cycling and keeps repeating back to the stone age. THAT'S A MUCH BIGGER STORY. FOCUS ON THAT. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Issho ni Training: Training with Hinako This things sucks. It has the noble attempt to get people to work out, that's fine. But holy shit is it lazy and just fan service. Hell in the latter half most of it is just repeated animation with different outfits. Or sometimes not even doing anything and still counting the numbers. If she is supposed to be doing it with us, ACTUALLY DO IT. Don't be lazy. damn this thing is lazy and its angle shots are very specifically just to give some people eye candy. Super not my thing. The only reason it isn't a 1 is the noble goal to try and get some people to work out. | 2 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Itou Junji: Collection Watched English Dubbed. My first foray into the spooky world of Junji Itou. The legendary Horror creator. These 12 episodes adapt some of his works, I assume short stories? Mangas? Stand alones? They are fucked up horror stories, spooky, and good. I do approve. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Jiaoao de Jiangjun A Chinese anime watched for the anime challenge. The animation, story, moral of this, the emotion and expression. Its really damn good considering this is from the 50's. A general returns victorious and rests on his laurels. Letting his weapons rot, his practice go to waste and he lays about. The enemy approaches, he is ill prepared and resorts to cowardice. I can almost this guess this was kind of a mini propaganda film to always be at the ready and never rest. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Jigokuraku Watched English dubbed. Criminals condemned to death are given a small sliver of hope, of a pardon if they accomplish a near impossible task. To journey to a island where the elixir of life is said to be. Retrieve this, and return alive, and earn a pardon. However, each criminal is monitored by a executioner that will cut them down if need be. The island is constantly trying to kill them all, and treachery between the contestants is allowed and encouraged. In this hell, Gabimaru is assigned the executioner of Sagiri, and we mostly follow their journey on the island. Others show up secondarily, with interesting journeys of their own, and backstory. Over time and encounters, they come to find out the truth of this island. It is an experiment, with 7 god like beings in the center. Perhaps it is one singular hermits that has split themself so perfectly into the sever parts of their own personality. They are essentialy gods fo this world now, immortal, and do as they wish. The monsters are their crude experiments. Human invaders are fun to be rid of and to grow more experiments with. As more learn bits of the truth, and realize their own fighting style is similar in some respects to these gods, they learn to control and harness it better. Using their own power against them, pushing themselves to the limit, it seems at the very end they have finally killed one of them. We will what season 2 brings with Gabimaru being separated, and having forgotten so much. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Jin-Rou Watched English Dubbed. A very odd movie. It starts out very good with a war of the public vs the poliece / special task force. Rebellion is a good story. Giving a soldier humanity and refusing to kill a suicide bomber, humanize them and take them through their story. Its solid, and then drops the fuck off into being boring. It tries to do political subterfuge, espionage, and the like but it tuns out so boring until the mid point of the set-up, and then the ending scene. Not a great movie. | 5 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Jormungand Watched English Dubbed. A story of bring a gun runner, a weapons supplier, with the intent of world peace. A ridiculous concept made somewhat possible by these hardened characters. Each of Coco's bodyguards is a killing machine, hardened and ready to fight for her dream. In these struggles, humanity shines through in a few mercies. Few as they are they are beautiful. Going out of their way to smuggle doctors to a warzone. To spare a child pirate. To spare a girl assassin, but she comes back for revenge and still dies. Its beautiful, and fucked up. Great gunplay, chases, emotion, and back story. I love this. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Jormungand: Perfect Order Watched English Dubbed. Brought full circle, we finally see the conclusion of Koko's plans all this time, what its been building to. A new world order, a super computer to lock out the very skies and end war. Brilliant and horrifying all at once. Jonah struggles with the reality of her plan, ends up running away for 2 years to Casper. In the end, he does choose Koko, plans to ride with her in this crazy world, even if the cost will be immense, estimated to be 700,000 people, it will save billions overall. Its a fucked up world view, but i get it. | 8 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Junk Boy Watched for anime challenge. Definitely not my type of thing. A pervert gets to work at a lewd magazine, using his dick as the indicator if something is good or not. The ONLY redeeming factor is he tries to have one woman find pleasure and goes to great lengths for it, even if it also satisfies his sex urges to eh. Not doing it for noble purpose, but whatever. | 4 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Juu Ou Sei Watched English Dubbed. A interesting setup and idea. Two kids parents are murdered, and they are shipped off to some hellhole planet. They have to try to survive, like many others who have been shipped there. The plants and environment are so hostile, few do survive, an the world ha broken into "Rings" to survive and form the basis of community. A idea was spread to all of them, the leader of all four rings will be the Beast King, and allowed to leave. On that idea, Thor seeks to get off this planet and find out why his parents were murdered. Some interesting fights and politics happen, Thor gets to become leader of Ochre ring through a fight to the death, through assistance of a distraction by third. Then, massive timeskip to years later. Things have changed, he ahs drown into mid teens, and the world is changing. Politics happen, and a new ring has come into being and is slaughtering others. It turns out to be an old aquantince, leader of the runaways,, those with no ring to call home formed their own. Through him, he is told secret information that begins to unravel the big lies they were all told. The lie of the beast king, of the murder, of why they exist. Thor does become beast king, saves the friend turned killer, and boards for the space elevator up. There all is revealed by the researcher, the prime minister, ad Third who was a soldier over watching him the whole time. Thor learns why all this happened, how humanity is fucked, earth is destroyed, and how he is the final product of their genetic research. Everything goes to shit, and the Prime minister after being shot makes the planet begin to terraform, which will kill everyone on it. Just to make space for the new human race through Thor. Everything goes on a all out mission to stop these terraforming devices, all but Thor die in the process. Thor at the end is indeed alive, back on Chimera, helping the next generation. This is a story about lies and peeling them back to the truth. It is interesting, but the giant time skip and then rushed fast paced few episodes throw me out of it with how much is thrown at us. | 6 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Juubee Ninpuuchou Watched English dubbed. Watched on recommendation of Brendon. Was ok, but not great. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Juuni Taisen Watched English Dubbed. A battle royale style anime. 12 enter, the signs of the zodiac, one wins and gets their wish. Cool backstories get told for most of them, humanizing them and giving reason to their actions. Decent actions and use of their skills. The end of it being rat, the most nonchalant lazy one winning, because they have a time power of choosing the best of 100 tried future outcomes, living through those one by one, was a interesting one. Its choice and indecision of the wish though I very much disagree with. Wishing to forget, be that everything in their entire life, forgetting who they are, or being forgetting they made the wish and its possibilities. Forgetting the battle he was in. We don't know exactly what it encompassed but regardless this was the one cop out. Didn't really like this ending because of that. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | K-On! Slice of life usually isn't my thing but this was decent. annoying the songs weren't translated to English with the dub. Not even subtitles for them. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | K-On! Movie A solid ending to help elaborate on them leaving and dealing with a member being left behind. A vacation for the decent portion of it, and the rest focused on how to help their one band mate left behind. Its done well, but I'm still annoyed that no subtitles or anything for a English dubbed movie. They even talked about lyrics for the song in English, then still put it in Japanese. | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | K-On!! Series started to wear on me and finished it out only for the sake of completion. Still annoyed the songs dont get subtitles in the dub. | 6 | TV | 26
