A group of Japanese schoolgirls taking a vacation abroad to make one last memory together. A tale of bittersweet parting. Plenty of their signature music too, as it should be. Both movies are also closed with beautiful songs that perfectly convey the groups' feelings.

K-On! is made by the same director (Naoko Yamada), chief character designer (Yukiko Horiguchi), scenario (Reiko Yoshida), the same studio (Kyoto Animation), and depicts a similar story of high-school teenagers in a slice-of-life setting, exploring the same theme of friendship and maturing. There are major differences, though. K-On! Movie was a great fan movie, whereas Tamako Love Story is a great individual film (and not just a spin-off from the TV series Tamako Market). Tamako Love Story involves a story of love, lost love, family, death, neighborhood community, and overcoming of hardship, besides friendship and maturing. While K-On! focuses on the bright sides of life, Tamako  read more

both are a cute/fun slice of life where a cast of highschool girls start a band together!! Bocchi The Rock is a little more high energy rather than the usually relaxing vibe of K-on, but it gives me the same feeling of hanging out with characters I like being around and just having a good time going on adventures together. The MC, Bocchi, has crippling anxiety, and the characters she meets- from her new friends in Keisoku Band to side characters- all have distinct personalities that make it fun to watch!! One of the things that's made it hard for me to find a new  read more

Both of these wonderfully animated series share a desire in wanting to create a school activity club. They have their own uniqueness and potential, in which is related to their passion for music. In some certain aspects, the main characters of Tari Tari sometimes reminds me of the main characters from K-ON! If you're not into stories that can cause your emotions to flip in angst and suspense; this meaningful, enjoyable, comedic story is definitely for you!

Both movies show off Kyoto Animation's full potential. Both movies also benefit from a generous run time, wonderful visuals and animation and of course that little bit of Kyoani magic that fans have come to love.

Very similar kind of aura and atmosphere to K-On, obviously Azumanga came first and is an absolute classic. Same type of characters and engaging episodes.

Another "Kyoto Animation" work with good production values. In this one, while being a slice-of-life, there's an actual character progression, theme exploration, and the girls aren't moe blobs. The end was a bit rushed but as a whole, it didn't ruin the experience. Plus, I'm a fan of musicals and the music here is great
