K-On! Movie, Tamako Love Story Recommendations
K-On! is made by the same director (Naoko Yamada), chief character designer (Yukiko Horiguchi), scenario (Reiko Yoshida), the same studio (Kyoto Animation), and depicts a similar story of high-school teenagers in a slice-of-life setting, exploring the same theme of friendship and maturing.
There are major differences, though. K-On! Movie was a great fan movie, whereas Tamako Love Story is a great individual film (and not just a spin-off from the TV series Tamako Market). Tamako Love Story involves a story of love, lost love, family, death, neighborhood community, and overcoming of hardship, besides friendship and maturing.
