Alright, so I just watched Geneshaft for the first time since TechTV's existed and now I'm going to vouch for two things:

a. This show is good. Not mind-blowing, but good.
b. No one on MAL who's reviewed this series has actually watched it, or their reviews were written from memory months or years after half-watching the original run on TV.

Geneshaft is a character story about a bunch of people raised in a dystopian future where genetics play a huge role, human lives are cheap and the species is more important than the individual. It's a series that identified what it wanted to do exactly, and executed ...

A short-length sci-fi that stays loyal to the cliché themes associated with the genre, but makes for a decent watch.

Story: 4
The plot, while not completely unenjoyable, is extremely drab. There are literally hundreds of animes out there that share similar themes:

- Gene manipulation (too many to list)
- Government population/sex control (Appleseed, Crest of the Stars)
- Protagonists are all children/teenagers (too many to list)
- Humanity deserves to be destroyed (Evangelion, Blue Gender, etc.)
- Mecha (too many to list)
- Ships used by ancient beings (Infinite Ryvius, ...

This is the single worst anime I have ever seen, it sucks, there is not one single redeeming feature in it other than the art work, I mean seriously this is a terrible freaking anime.

All of the characters look like they belong in an anime , you know huge desu desu eyes and with the Girl characters it doesn't matter if they are 10 or 85, they have Double D Breasts; and by the way all these 80 pound knocker vapid brain creatures are obssesed over the shit weak willed main character that sucks ass and whines like a panzy every time ...

Some time ago, my brother was telling me about a conversation. Unfortunately, I don't remember who was talking to whom. It may have been a conversation he had with a friend, or something he watched in the Futurama DVD extras. At any rate, it went something like this: "I love Futurama! It's a very funny show about the future!" "... ... ... Exactly which part of it is about the future?".

My review of Geneshaft has been a long time coming. It was pretty new when I first watched it. At the time I saw tons of ...

Mixed Feelings
Set some time in the distant future, "Geneshaft" takes place in a world where genetic engineering is widespread. One of the things it is used for is to ensure the women:men ratio in the world is at an "optimum" 9:1... for no good reasons that I can fathom. Of course, not only are the women genetically modified to be clever, but also good looking. Now, from this setting, you can probably guess the kind of anime this is gonna be. Yep, premises wise, this puts Geneshaft squarely in the middle of "Vandread" territory. But whilst "Vandread" is mildly enjoyable in a generic way, "Geneshaft" falls ...

For those who've watched Gundam Seed Destiny, this anime is one of the possible future. Imagine, that the one who win is Chairman Durandal instead of Kira and Athrun, the next 200 years is what we called Geneshaft.

The animation is nice. The 3d in it is awesome. But sometimes it goes overboard. However that wont effect the plot in the anime.

The plot is going quite slow at first, but then it picks up in the middle of the anime and move quite fast in the end. It's really touching and overall a sad buy happy story.

The character design and personality is brilliant. The seiyuu is doing their job ...

This is more recent and decent mecha series. For me it a 10! it may heve similarities with other mecha and sci-fi,but let's be honest>>all anime do.
The point here is how they put it all together to form a story worth of your time!

Sound: Metal riffs which might give off a starnge feeling at first but they give the series its caracter. I think its better than some balade that most anime have.

Graphics: Graphics are 2D+3D mix which i love with more recent anime. In one word: superb!

Story: The story is mature and for me it gives another perspective of human race and its behaviour. ...

A series i don't even remember running back when 'Anime Unleashed' still existed.
If you looked at this series and thought "Yay Harem" you will be disappointed to find that is not the case.

I find this to be a space drama with characters that seem to me as space elves with muted personalities with the exception Mario whom is the most down to earth person i can think of.

Art has aged well. Combining familiar drawn animations with 3D spaceships and a whole 2 battle Mecha. Everything is clean and character designs are modest and believable.

Sound was very distinctive with its music. Slow electric ...

Geneshaft is a bland, mediocre anime with a decent premise that fails to deliver on almost every category.

First, let's talk about audio. The soundtrack is a sloppy amateurish hodgepodge of cheesy guitar riffs. Unlike other attempts at this like Trigun, the guitar work is simply obnoxious and clashes with the overall aesthetics of the show. There's not much "rock & roll" or action in the series, so I think chunky guitar riffs were a weird choice, and the poor execution makes that more apparent. The English Dub is mostly good but there are a few intolerable performances (like the programmer who talks with a ...
