Bohemian Rhapsody

The animation itself is very good,
nothing to say about the music (just perfect)

but the relation music-video, personally I didn't liked it
I don't know what was Matsumoto's interpretation to the song

but have nothing in common, It goes to nowhere

And wtf did I just watch?
Of course this AMV is not confusing per se, it is more the question what was the point of it?
The visuals were great and the music of course OUTSTANDING....
But that is also about it...
I didn´t feel a real connection between the video and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Maybe I just missed something but it felt like someone just took a chunk from an anime and then overlapped the sounds with Queen´s song, like an amateur fanmade AMV.

I think that it is a blasphemy against Bohemian Rhapsody, maybe I am being too harsh but I was indeed disappointed! shame on you Leiji Matsumoto.

This video deserves extra credit just because straight after watching it I downloaded Queen's album.

The story revolves around some austronaut people and that is how much I can tell. Art looks quite effective, specially the scenes with the blooming flowers.

And the music! Well, if it's Queen, one can't really judge it, you just have to accept the classics.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if Queen and Leiji Matsumoto join forces? If you did... man you have lots of free time and a great imagination, aren't ya? Anyways, this is the result!

First point to consider: the visual aspect. By itself, this video is great. High-quality animation with your typical Matsumoto characters (which are very typical: all his characters look extremely similar). The story of this video is as crazy as the song itself, with two parallel realities that collide because of two necklaces (I think...). Astronauts and space battles are included, and some beautiful landscapes are there ... too, with flowers and stuff (just check the image of the main page n_n).

Second point to consider: sound (duh). This is one of Queen's most acclaimed songs (with all that that implies), and the general consensus places it as one of the best songs of the last century. In just six minutes we have a part hard rock, a part ballad, a part opera, and no chorus at all. That may sound weird to the ones who don't know the song (who?), but believe me, it all blends perfectly. Freddie Mercury interpretation's is impeccable.

The third point is how visuals and sound combines. Here is where this video, sadly, fails. Many, many times animation and sound just don't mix, and most of the movements are made out of time (both with lyrics or instrumental parts). This just don't make sense, since several years before this, Matsumoto participate in Interestella555, a one hour movie that, basically, was a music video for a whole album! (Daft Punk's second work, Discovery. BTW, is an amazing movie, I highly recommend it).

Anyway, despite that problem, this is Bohemian Rhapsody with a new video, and that's always interesting. I recommend this to all the Queen fans, to the ones who like the song, and specially to the ones that never heard about it. This is your chance!

Alguna vez se preguntaron qué pasaría si Leiji Matsumoto y Queen unieran fuerzas? Bueno, si lo hicieron, aparte de tener mucho tiempo libre y una gran imaginación... este es el resultado!

Primer punto a tener en cuenta: el aspecto visual. El video es en sí mismo es genial. Una animación de gran calidad, con los personajes típicos de Matsumoto (que son muy típicos: casi son clones unos de otros xD). La historia del video es tan delirante como la canción misma, con dos realidades paralelas que se entrecruzan a causa de dos collares (creo). Astronautas y batallas espaciales incluidas.

Segundo punto a tener en cuenta: el sonido. Esta es una de las canciones más aclamadas de Queen (con todo lo que eso implica), y el consenso general la ubica como una de las mejores del siglo pasado. En solo seis minutos tenemos una parte hard rock, una parte balada, parte opera, y ningún estribillo. La interpretación de Freddie Mercury es impecable, como era habitual en él. Una pieza única que no tiene mucho sentido que detalle, dado que la gran mayoría ya la conoce n_n.

El tercer punto es como se combinan la canción y la animación. Acá es donde este video, tristemente, falla. En muchos, muchos momentos, la animación y la música simplemente no combinan y la mayoría de los movimientos son hechos a destiempo en relación la música. Es insólito que esto pasara, mas teniendo en cuenta que, varios años antes, el mismo Matsumoto participo en Interestella555, una película de más de una hora que era, básicamente un video musical que adapta todo un álbum! (el segundo trabajo del grupo Daft Punk, Discovery. Es un trabajo de altísima calidad, lo recomiendo ampliamente).

Como sea, a pesar de que el video y la canción no pegan mucho, vale la pena ver esto porque, bueno, es BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, con un video nuevo y original. Recomendable a todos aquellos a los que les guste la canción, o más aun, si no la conocen.

After watching Interstella5555, another project that Matsumoto worked on, I was expecting something as good as that, maybe even better. But I was very disappointed.

My biggest problem is that the animation and the music don't match. The song has its own story, totally different from the one that's shown in the anime. Maybe the project doesn't target an English speaking audience, so then the words of the song don't really matter. But even if the soundtrack was instrumental it still wouldn't have been any good. There are a lot of scenes that aren't even properly timed to the music. The feeling that I ... get form the song doesn't match the feeling that I get from the animation. I'm sorry to say this, but I've seen AMVs, made by amateurs, that are better than this.

The animation itself is pretty good with an interesting story, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is awesome, but combined they suck.

Leijii Matsumoto was the creator of this music video, he is one of the people who was responsible for Interstellar 5555. So basically what we have here is a music video with a song from the iconic rock band Queen playing in the background.The animation was a little choppy due to some use of CGI,but I found the art style in general to be very good.The story is pretty nonexistent to be completely honest but it does seem interesting. Same thing with the characters they seemed interesting and I loved there design but it just seemed that they were just there,not really developed at all. ... The sound was great,I mean come on its Queen. The animation synced up with the music well. While nothing groundbreaking or overwhelming,this is still a fun music video and I reccomend it for those who like Queen or rock music in general.

What..what am i watching?? If i didn’t see this with my own eyes, i would not believe this was a thing that actually exists. Hmm.. I love Queen lot of respect for Matsumoto but i just don’t get it. There’s nothing related between the audio and the video. I mean what’s this...

Maybe i’ve got all this wrong, but little shining beacon at the beginning looks like Andromeda’s brain module that enabled her to not die all throughout Maetel Legend and Space Symphony Maetel.

So...after the machanized planet was eaten up in Galaxy Express Adieu by the space siren, her conciousness was just left on ... that asteroid?

You cant beat queen.
The video was fairly good. Being a music video you cant really tell a story to well or have much character development but you can tell there is a stor.

This video was done for an 18 anniversary of Freddies Mercury passing.

The AMV is very good, but it feels more like a clips from anime rather than a story with Bohemian Rhapsody playing in the background. Song fits the characters very well, but I feel like something is missing. I prefer his Daft Punks videos more than this one. The video is fine, I really liiked the beggining seguence and ending.

This video pretty much done for people that know Leji Matsumoto´s work. I think that the songs ... matches the characters. I would prefer the video if it was targetted more towards fans of Queen rather than just fans of Leji Matsumoto. Because as a Queen fan, this video doesn´t say much to me.
