Good sequels don't announce themselves-- they just continue where the conversation left off.
Call of the Night Season 2 picks up exactly where we left everyone, only that there's been a slight change. The animation has improved, with special detail and care being put into the background and compositing work. This was already a highlight in Season 1, but the improvements make the environments feel more real, more breathable. The camera work does more than show off characters and environments; it makes the viewer feel almost complicit with their activities.
Creepy Nuts returns for both the OP and ED, completely refreshing the original aesthetic Season 1 had.

Call of the Night Season 2 Review (this will not contain spoilers)
Return of a Masterpiece The first episodes of this very awaited sequel reminded us why this series became so loved in the first place. Its Vibe/Aesthetic. The vibe this anime gives off, constantly taking place during the night paired with the greatest visuals possible is what made it stand out heavily to fans. With an incredible setting, a good MC, nice cast and a unique premise (romance with vampires). These elements are what keeps us coming back every week. Through amazing night skies, great introductions and the plot developing rapidly is why i think this ... Jul 18, 2025
“If the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.”
Yofukashi no Uta already established its roots with a strong first season, and since the manga is finished, all the anime needs to do is adapt it as closely and accurately as possible. It’s a no‑brainer that an anime studio would give a faithful adaptation to a well‑known and beloved manga series, but there was an attempt by another studio to “adapt” a different manga in the completely opposite way—tanking the ratings and basically making everyone hate the adaptation. Luckily, Yofukashi no Uta doesn’t follow that route and continues to please fans of ... Jul 23, 2025
YOFUKASHI NO UTA SEASON 2 – FIRST IMPRESSION REVIEW
I really wasn’t expecting much from Season 2, but it actually caught me off guard. The nights are still neon and cool, but this time there’s real danger. The cozy, easygoing vibe is gone—now it’s all tension and “what the hell is gonna happen next?” [Story] We’re back with Kou and Nazuna, but things aren’t chill anymore. There’s a real deadline now, weird new vampire rules, and actual threats—Anko’s out for blood, Kiku’s chaos, and suddenly nobody feels safe. It’s way less about romance, way more about survival. I didn’t see that coming, honestly. [Characters] Kou is still awkward, but at ... Jul 29, 2025
There is a certain type of anime that LIDENFILMS seems to be specialized at - anime about the beauty of the night, the enchanting loneliness and tranquility, to the tone of a sky full of stars. And they deliver it. Again. Yofukashi no Uta strikes where it needs to with its second season, expanding on the idea presented in the first season with atmost grace.
But there is a catch: this time the night isn't safe, we stray away from the laid-back, slice-of-life vibe of the first season, and it's a good change. We still see moments of that call of the night the series ... Aug 2, 2025
Bleh.
This show doesn't know what it wants to be. It is sometimes a relaxed exploration of nightlife, sometimes a rom-com, and sometimes a paranormal detective drama. The first season was somewhat able to get away with this ménage à trois by only adding the other aspects in halfway through, but by the second season they're clashing for airtime in uncomfortable ways. The open ended feel of the first half of the first season cannot thrive as the show moves in a more plot-driven direction, so the quiet ambience of nightlife is relegated to backgrounds and cutaways. The characters aren't really interesting enough to be compelling ... |
