Synopsis

The city's academies are divided into their own districts and are considered mostly independent.

The General Student Council acts as governing board to manage the academies as a whole. However, the group's ability to govern has come to halt since the mysterious disappearance of the General Student Council president. Countless issues have begun to surface throughout Kivotos in the absence of the president's leadership.

To avoid disaster, the General Student Council requests assistance from the Federal Investigation Club, otherwise known as Schale. In fact, Schale is the city's newest club and the last to be approved before the president's disappearance.

To accomplish its task, Schale relies on the guidance of a Sensei who can help them resolve the incidents around Kivotos.

(Students are required to carry personal weapons and smart phones! Get a taste of the military action, love, and friendship the Academy City has to offer!)

First of all *sob emoji* *sob emoji* *sob emoji* *sob emoji* *sob emoji*.

Now, "Blue Archive the Animation," the adaptation of the hit mobile game "Blue Archive," finally aired, and so far IT'S SO GOOD.

From the animation to the opening sequence, characters, and background song, it's safe to say this is one of the best gacha game-to-anime adaptations.

The plot itself follows and adapts the same story present in the game with a little bit of tinkering so it fits the anime aesthetic, and some anime-only scenes were added BUT don't affect the original story whatsoever. Sadly, they don't really animate the prologue of this anime, so ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (3/12 eps)
Well, where to begin?

Overall, the animation is good, the fights are not boring, and the story is enjoyable to follow.

However, being a day one player of the game, I already know where the anime is headed (like I assume most players do).

And therein lies the anime's main flaw. While it certainly serves as good promotion for the game, for non-players, many things (such as explanations of the universe) are skipped over.

Even the most basic question of 'why do characters who get shot not suffer any bodily harm?' is left unanswered.

I would say for those who intend to play or are players, I recommend watching the ...

Good:

-The op/ed
-The seiyus
-The designs
-The animation in general

Bad:
-The WRITING (Awful expositions, desperate to show cameos without caring about anything else, plot holes and inconsistencies caused by being obsessed with following the progress of the order of the game's story) If they wanted to make a series for only fans, they could just do something like Pokémon Chronicles.
-The 'you need to play to understand it'
