Denpa-teki na Kanojo

I came into this after reading all the good reviews and high MAL score so i thought this would be a good anime to watch with my friends.
I was right but so wrong and we had some of the best laughs yet.

Character motivations are ambiguous at best with our two protagonists putting themselves on the line in unrealistic and unreasonable circumstances. We get to know next to nothing about out generic yandere clingy female and ambitiousless male lead. We get to feel nothing for the charecters who are lost in the hopless edgyness of this anime.

Now, there is no problem with edginess. Elfen Lied, ... Higurashi or Shingeki do it well, but this is because they set up a convincing scenario where the gore is justifiable to the message. Denpa Teki makes it just seem so crass and immature. This is in part due to how one dimensional all the charecters are, but also due to how weak the stories are and convoluted the stories are.

Seriously, how can anyone not laugh at the end of OVA 1. it's as if the writter came along and said "we aren't quite being crazy enough so let's just do a complete as pull in the name of gore". Or how about the shear stupidity of the end of OVA 2. What about the constant spoon feeding?

I could honestly put these charecters and story on a Mars of Destruction Tier.
The only saving grace is the art which is well done, but overemphasizing on things which have no value to the plot such as the reacuring statue in OVA 1.

You guys wonder why it wasn't a full anime... well it's obvious to if you look hard enough.

If you are a fan of things like deeper character development, rational thinking, realistic characters and mystery watch something else. Denpa Teki na Kanojo tries to be a showcase of crazy people, but achieves barely anything else

*Denpa Teki na Kanojo tries very hard to make it's characters seem insane, but doesn't give them a proper buildup which leads to their condition feeling forced.

*It is filled with spontaneous plot developments that ruin the atmosphere (i.e. pulling information out of seemingly thin air or conveniently running into a corpse.)

*The characters are often plagued with a lack of common sense abnormal even for the horror genera. ...

* The mystery was weak, it was too predictable at times and too unpredictable at others (can't explain more without spoilers)

* Tries to be episodic, but with only 2 episodes it feels lacking.

The art and sound were average. Nothing special but nothing bad either.


If you want to watch an anime about crazy people give this a shot, but don't expect anything else.

Okay, I don't know if I am crazy or something, but I am very confused when I see all of the high ratings on the reviews for this. This 2 episode OVA is really not amazing at all and if anything, doesn't even meet the term mediocre.
The only thing that sticks out in this is the occasional cute girl frame and nice drawings of the scenery, but besides that it really sucked. It was edgy for no reason, I got no central lesson from this, the animation really wasn't anything to note, and ... it was nothing that hasn't been done before- and those that have done it better. Along with nothing standing out, the characters are not noteworthy and there is no attachment whatsoever.
Lots of common tropes were used, and not that they can't be used effectively-because they can-, but they were not.
I don't mean to be rude but it is 2:30 am and I do not understand the high ratings. If you are bored and have nothing to do, go ahead and watch, but you could just watch anything else.

I'm going to attempt to give my impression with little to no spoilers, but I might slip-up a bit, so read with caution. In any case, I'm mainly concerned with the characters and plot.

It would appear that Denpa-teki was attempting to be deep and meaningful, presenting a number of life questions through character dialogue. But rather than answer said questions in meaningful ways, like tying them into the plot in the form of lessons learned or something of that nature, they are instead replaced with some contrived world logic/ ideology with little basis in reality.

What is presented are a few different psychopaths ... committing crimes for superficial reasons. There's essentially one case with a single culprit or two for each episode. With this, the main characters attempt to resolve said crimes after seemingly being dragged into them. The resolution of conflicts in both episodes aren't very interesting, anticlimactic even, though at times the situations were ridiculous enough to get me to chuckle.

With this in mind, I find a number of inconsistencies and illogical behavior in this show. There are a few scenes where it would make a great deal of sense to call the police, but with little explanation or reason, the characters decide to take things upon themselves. The police seem fairly useless in this show anyway, so I guess you can't blame them, though the main male does pretend to try and call at one point. You could say they were simply stubborn or felt a strong sense of justice, but there's little reason to believe the extremes displayed. Their actions are simply convenient for plot. There are also instances where they should have died, but are spared either by a hand wave, like uncanny luck or temporary emotional diarrhea on part of the culprits. I don't always have an issue with this if executed in an interesting or humorous manner, but Denpa-teki uses clumsy excuses.

Character motivations are largely unexplained. Any attempt at exploring a character's backstory is very short and offers little in information. At most, it is shown that a few of the characters have met in the past and may have shared an emotional experience, but this is the extent of such scenes.

For example, the main heroine's obsession with the male protagonist is never really explained, and it appears she's simply suffering from chuunibyou syndrome. The contents of her room, and even her sister, seem to imply this. She goes on about a connection to him from a previous life, but aside from a brief scene from her childhood in the second episode, this is the extent of it. For the most part, she stalks him a lot, and it's only in the second episode does an inkling of intuition actually lead her to him.

The male protagonist is hinted at having some kind of troubled past, but this is hardly explored. It could be gathered that his parents are dead, but this is never made explicit. According to him, it's none of your business. Just accept that he's moody and troubled. His behavior is also a bit inconsistent toward the end. I was initially fond of him for his convincingly natural lack of restraint when angry, while also maintaining a sense of respect for those who deserved it. He could be described as the type who'd choose to fight, rather than flight or freeze. But by the second episode, for no real reason, he becomes fairly useless. There are a number of scenes where you'd expect him to jump into action, only to have him freeze in place instead. He does make up for this a couple of times, but there's little reason for the times when he doesn't. Aside from the fact that this was inconsistent with his character earlier on, it also fell out of line with his eagerness to pursue the crimes presented in the show. The last few scenes in episode two were the most irritating in this regard.

The rest of the characters are either psychopaths with poor, unconvincing reasons for being so, or served nothing more than to aid the main characters.

The art style is nothing special, and the animation is a bit awkward in a couple of scenes. I have an HD copy of both episodes, so I'm skeptical that it's due to poor file quality or corruption.

Overall, this OVA was disappointing. While I seldom watch shows that dive deep into the human psyche, or address life's most challenging questions, I've watched enough of them to know this one fails to do either very well. Episode one was much better than two, and I feel it would have been fine on its own.

Easiest way to explain this should would be if expection bar was low as it possible could be , like its on the fucking ground , Denpa-teki na Kanojo sees this, gives a smirky look and proceeds to start digging tunnel underneath the bar.
Denpa-teki na Kanojo is one of hollowest work of anime i have ever watched to the point that i was pretty sure this was a troll show made deliberately to be absolute trash and i feel like idiot for falling for low level bait.

moving on , this show is listed as mystery thriller, school although it should say ... "complete dumpster trash".

Listen show then cast consists of 4 characters and 2 are protagonists and one is killed, its doesnt take collective deducing power of L, Sherlock and every detective in existence to guess who murder might fucking be.

thriller , well yes if in about 40 minutes of watching there are bout 2 frames showing dead bodies counts as thriller . So you not going to be getting any juvenile violence to entertain you.


ah yes school . Well school part is just excuse to have characters be high schoolers and so that sho can go "booooh look at this high schoolers being guilty and making yandere faces booohh so scaaary'

I'll be frank unless your 6 or your definition of horror includes shitily edited ghost videos from 2010 youtube, this show is one of laziest works of fiction you will come across and I advise to go watch something else like Shiki
