Tekken: Bloodline

I was expecting it to be as bad as the other Tekken movie adaptations, but was surprised. This lore manages to be close to the real storyline presented back in Tekken 3, adding more original scenes as an extra.

If you are a fan of the franchise, you'll most likely enjoy the animation during the various battles (the moves and special effects look like they were taken straight out of the actual games).

Although I disliked some artistic choices (e.g. triangle shadows, drawings/CGI used sometimes felt cheap), the episodes kept my attention and didn't feel drawn out just for the sake of it.

Hoping for another ... season where they'll expand on Kazuya and Jin's backstories starting from Tekken 4.

Get ready - for the comedy of the year.

I've never held out much hope for animations/TV series/movies based on games, especially fighting games. However, even with such mental preparation, it is an awkward, absurd viewing experience.

I don't think the story needs to be told in more than six episodes. On the contrary, I don't believe the length of it is used well, which leads to the details being rushed through (how did Jin meet his friends?) and the main storyline making people feel lengthy.

Another intuitive feeling is that the creator did not refer to other animated series with similar themes when writing the script. The ... tournament can't make people feel their blood boil at all, even if the moves of many characters are restored to the episode, and there are many familiar faces of players here. In fact, the tournament is not valued; it is only a part of the process, a necessary step to reach the end. As for the ending, I can't even feel how our protagonist has grown, and I can only say, "yes, you should choose ***** *** instead of *** because the former is stronger." Oh, maybe the story is as straightforward as the Tekken 3 story? OK, how much is 2022 minus 1996?

In summary, the series failed to break the spell and wasted much potential. If you are not a Tekken fan but are interested in Tekken, please watch a Tekken tourney or buy a Tekken game to play. If you are a Tekken player looking for some fun outside the game, I suggest you read the patch note of Ver 5.00, which is way better than watching this.

By the way, Netflix's translation is hopeless, I really hope they at least hire Google Translate.

I haven't posted a review for a while, not because I haven't been watching anything, but because after been bothered by a friend of mine to watch it, I finally started Naruto: Shippuden. Currently 162 episodes in and have paused so we can watch the upcoming fight together. So, as I can't go any further until next week, I watched Tekken: Bloodlines.

I have to be honest, I'm a massive Tekken fan, of both the games and the lore. Also, anything Tekken that isn't the games is generally shit. So I hoped it would be amazing but expected it to be shit.

Amazingly, it was great. ... Really great in fact. Story wise it sticks to the lore pretty well, it portrays Jin as a bit of a wet lad in the beginning but soon we see the Jin we know and love from Tekken 3. This is where the story begins, utilising a plain journey to skim over the events of Tekken 1 and 2. It still seems noone dares to do a proper Tekken adaptation that doesn't center around Jin. Also, not sure why they needed to bring Leroy in here but doesn't really matter, we still get sight of Steve and Marduk who weren't in the story at this point too. It made no impact on the story. Ultimately, though it was short, it told the story well. Would have been nice however to see more fights from other characters. Maybe we will get another with Lee as Violet, and Jin reapearing in his badass hood. Maybe just maybe, it would actually be better than the shit game that is Tekken 4. 7/10

Visually, it's stunning. Beuatilly choriagraphed, true to the move sets of the characters and as smooth as you like. From the very beginning you can see it's going to be smooth. It also had it's own style. Even the expelled energy from the fights mirrors that seen in the games. There isn't much more I can say about it to be honest. It delivers perfect service to the games. The characters look perfect. 9/10

On the music front, well, it's Tekken. It just can't be bad can it. Just like the stage music contributes to the fighting in the game, in its presence, purpose and quality, the show is the same. It's not a score, it's just a veriety of great track to compliment the action and it does it well. 8/10

In summary, finally! A great Tekken adaptation. Though, I'm not sure how great this would be for a non Tekken fan, it certainly is if you are. Overall 8/10

If you are familiar with the Tekken 3 story you will likely enjoy this. It's probably the best Tekken has ever been represented outside of the games in my opinion. The writing is nothing special. I actually think it was underwhelming especially in the first episode. It does improve but it's not winning any awards. Its leagues better than in the games at least. The real reason you're watching this is for the fights and the animation. The animation is very good. Even outside of the fights themselves. But in the fights they definitely excel. If you're a Tekken fan, the amount of fanservice here ... will have you smiling ear to ear. So many recognisable moves from the games are animated true to their source. From the Mishimas spinning demon to Kings Reverse special stretch bomb and giant swing. The same hit and block effects from the games are even represented when a character lands a hit or blocks an attack.

Honestly; I dont know how much enjoyment a non Tekken fan will find in this. It's a retelling of the Tekken 3 story from Jins perspective. As a big Tekken fan this was fantastic. But I can't speak for someone new to the series. I can say that it goes over way more than the games ever did, but the Tekken 3 story isn't really relevant to anyone wanting to start the Tekken series today.

Overall I do still reccomend it, but your mileage will vary depending on your experience with the games.

I don't usually do reviews, but seeing the average score of 6.6 I had to do it. If you grew up like me with Tekken video games, you will love this anime. Watching it is like playing an Arcade game of Tekken 3, through one of the most iconic characters, Jin Kazama. I finally understood who that green final boss was that I didn't know why I had to face at the end of the arcade.

The story is very good if one of your favorite characters was Jin and the combat scenes are simply spectacular, including all the super famous moves of several especially ... iconic characters and the particles and lights when hitting and even defending. Those impossible grapples and combos, combining ground and aerial attacks that you spent so many hours practicing are in the series, I love it! It's like reliving your childhood all over again in this anime! The animation, the setting, the drawing style, is really good, I was surprised.

The anime is a breath of fresh air and personality among so many anime that are clones of each other. Hopefully they release many more seasons and we can see and learn many more story arcs.

I could give it an 8, but I give it a 9 for nostalgia and to support the production of more seasons, since an average of 6.6 seems to me to be a very unfair mark that is not true to reality :D

It doesn't matter what age you are, as long you don't have Alzheimer's you'll probably know the action packed, long late nights with friends, full of adrenaline game that is called TEKKEN. TEKKEN had a gameplay which made every child dream to have an abnormal power into a reality. It was so much fun just to jump between characters and try everyone. To conclude things TEKKEN have a special place in every gamer heart in some way or another.

Years later Japan made us a favor and created an anime adaptaion for this game masterpiece. Like every other person in the world I got excited and ... started watching it and let me tell you that the plot is garbage, there is no way to get sentimental with the characters because they are not intresting at all and everything just fell so dull and boring and that is EXACTLY how an anime that based on a fighting videogame should be about! I was so happy that they didn't mixed things up with shitty plot and shitty excuses just to get viewers.

Most of the anime is just about stupid reasons on how 2 persons began to fight each other and that's it, I dont need more of it. I came to watch an anime which is based on a fighting videogame so don't ruin it and just give the fighting scenes and that is what TEKKEN delivers perfectly.

I'll add another good word and say that the choreography of this anime is perfectly synced with the Videgames combos and that is very admirable to see how the animators gave thought to this detail.

Overall, the anime is boring and not something mindblowing if your'e looking for a deep plot and to cry under your pillow but it delivers exactly what a show based on a fighting videogame supposed to deliver and that is what so fun about this anime.

Hey, if you haven't played Tekken - I don't think this is for you. 6 episodes doesn't give them the time to build characters. Its more like: "hey, its Paul Phoenix! Oh hell yeah, Xiaoyu in her schoolgirl outfit! wow, they animated King's giant swing!". If you are a Tekken fan, you will love seeing all your favorite characters and moves brought to life.

The story is bad only in the sense that the Tekken story is bad, lol. Fighting games have dumb stories. I think they executed everything really well and made it seem less cheesy than I would have expected.

Where it really ... stands out is the animation. And not in a way that is necessarily easy to explain. Its not incredible and breathtaking like Jujutsu or Demon Slayer. I would describe it as "unintrusive". It is the least intrusive use of 3D modeling I've seen in anime - which, if you watch a lot of anime, is actually a pretty monumentous breakthrough. Almost all 3D in anime is hideous beyond reason and sticks out like a sore thumb. People hold up Beastars and Studio Orange as the benchmark in the industry - and I would agree, but only in the sense that they are the least worst at it. Plus, Beastars benefits from being entirely 3D, which makes the animation much less intrusive and noticeable. Tekken uses lots of 3D, but quite a bit of traditional animation as well.

In short, I think its a great watch if your a Tekken fan, and a great watch if your an animation and fight scene fan. If you don't play Tekken... play Tekken! Its great! Then watch this anime after.

As a Tekken Fan, I appreciate this anime. At least a good anime adaptation of Tekken 3 and got more backstory with Jin and Jun plus the training between Jin and Heihachi. Also, those complaining about the animation being trash, it is ok since I am use to games having these kind of animation. The fights were cool to see especially when you see moves that the characters actually perform in the game. The ending was a bit rushed, but overall I liked it a lot. Maybe 6 episodes was too short. What I really want was the English x Japanese anime adaptation of Tekken. ... I want to see the English spekaing characters actually speak english and the Japanese speaking characters speak Japanese. It wouldn't make sense for them to understand each but that is how the game characters interact in the game. I didn't mind the CGI at all. The msuic bgm was good as well especially during the training scenes.I did mind some of the changes here and there, but it wasn't bothersome. I am glad the anime adaption was based on Tekken 3. I am a Tekken fan who is deeply more into the actual story than actually playing it. That is why I love Tekken as a whole. Overall I give this anime a 7/10.

Was looking forward to watching this since, its based a fighting game, is considered one of the best fighting games of all time. Personally I did play a bit of Tekken growing up but not a lot, so I am not 100 familiar with the story line of the game itself, I would just play the game in arcades with friends from time to time, so watching the anime gave me a better understanding of the story line of Tekken.

From what I understand its not 100 percent accurate as the game their is changes here and their and the story basically takes place from ... Tekken 3. The episode are about 20 mins long, and their is only 6 episodes so far.

I think it was a good anime, and was interesting however did felt it was a little rush, you do not get a full back story of every character, but you still some background base of certain characters. The anime, and the fighting is pretty good, but felt it can be better.

I would still recommend to watch it ( if your a tekken fan) or even if your not, its only 6 episodes, and was a fun quick anime to watch.

Hopefully the curse of the video games adaptations are gone, castlevania and sonic showed the potential and now tekken joined the roster of good adaptation, it's not perfect by any means but it's enjoyable for average audience and one hell of o good time for the fans of the video game, every single move comes out of the game , every punch and every kick is like a love letter to the fans and it shows the creators cared about it. the story presented nicely and characters are great but it has some problems, for example the music is the most generic ost that I ... have ever heard and this is the same franchise that gave us classics like moonlit wilderness and anger of god, and another problem which is really pity and it's on me is the character design, the animation is great and unlike many people I didn't mind the triangle shadows at all but why characters like julia or xiaoyu are wearing their tekken 7 outfits?? and what's up with leroy showing up in the story and get nerfed both here and in the new patch of the game ? this are nitpicking but they really got on my mind, but hey it was some good ass tekken even though it ended out of no where and left me unsatisfied but wanting more in the future.

p.s: I really wanted to see Paul kicking a grizzly bear's ass but they skip over it , 0/10 garbage show.
