Both were originally written by the same mangaka. They both feature a similar type of slapstick humor. More importantly, they have a lot of similar character archetypes such as Ryuunosuke and Ranma, Shinobu and Akane, Lum and Shampoo, Mendo and Kuno, etc. Both are comedies at their core but also have a heavy emphasis on romance.

The same situation where it involves regular guy and Extra Terrestrial girl and regular guy's life was never the same again. But , when it come to the guys' character in To Love Ru the guy there was annoying cu'z he doesn't have the balls to confess to his true love, while in the remake Urusei, the guy is a total player/ moron/ horny. when it come to the female character in the remake of Urusei the ET girl can be a Yandere / Jealous/ sadistic and clingy type, while in To Love Ru the ET girl there let's just say she was the  read more

Both are RomComs. Single season introduction to Anime RomCom style. Short, easy to digest, and easy on the newcomers.

imo, vlad love was in its own way very similar to urusei yatsura, as if the series' writer/director mamoru oshii was in many ways returning to the sorts of characters and storytelling styles used in the more comedic episodes of the 80's uruyatsu and his other work on patlabor. however, vlad love had me interested from episode 1, but i can't say the same for this new uruyatsu. full disclosure, though, i have a huge bias toward the first anime adaptation. regardless, if the characters, stories, and humor of urusei yatsura are appealing to you, vlad love will likely be your speed as well, and vice versa.

I can't really explain it. But for some reason, every time I sit down and watch an episode of Urusei Yatsura (2022), it makes me think about The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. It's probably because it ticks a lot of the same boxes: an episodic story, fast-paced gag humor, crisp and colorful art, and most importantly, outrageous characters voiced by a talented cast of seiyuu.

Both Maison Ikkoku and Urusei Yatsura were written by the same author AT THE SAME TIME in sister magazines (UY 1978-1987 and MI 1980-1987). Whereas Urusei Yatsura aimed at a younger demographic, Maison Ikkoku targeted a more seinen audience. So Maison Ikkoku is wholly grounded in reality without sci-fi or supernatural elements and features an older cast of characters. But they still share the same spirit in both comedy and romance. Unlike Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku has a more noticeable plot progression and also features more drama near the end, but not at the expense of its comedy. Fans of Urusei Yatsura will feel right at  read more

Both MCs are lucky idiots who have a romance triangleish romance, however the gag plots are what takes center stage over progressing the romantic plot, it's more of a set-up for further jokes. Baka to Test is one my favourite anime and I haven't commited to watching any anime for years now but Urusei Yatsura has been fun and refreshing with the saturation in anime industry of super serious shows.

Very similar dynamic between protagonists (Lum x Ataru, Youko x Keita). Also, both heroines have mystical powers and green hair.

Comedy, pacing, and the overall fun in a single episode, furthermore a character name shinobu and kamiya hiroshi voicing the protag. The resemblance is real. Great adaptation.

Both are episodic romcoms originally made in the 80s. Although Kimagure Orange Road IS an 80s anime and does not have a Remake like Urusei Yatsura, it's still 100% worth watching as it's aesthetically one of the best-looking anime of the decade that still holds up. It also has one of the best and most memorable OSTs ever. KOR is more grounded in reality and has a more "normal" love triangle than a "harem" like UY. But both have many similar episodic story structures and similar plot points. KOR has supernatural elements that work in a similar but more grounded way than Urusei Yatsura's sci-fi  read more

Whacky slapstick Japanese fun and comedy in its basic form. Both are works from the Showa Era in Japan brought and reworked into the modern times. If you enjoy the sensibilities and charms of classic 80s comedy Animes, you'll enjoy both of these shows.

The same ET girl and earth boy kind of romance, comedy and some ecchi, however in one anime the ET girl there was open for his earth boy to have multiple realtionship and the Earth Boy was more like a reserve kind, while in the other anime the earth boy there is a pervert and his ET girl is a yandere kind.
