Irodorimidori

Maigahara Senior High School is a prestigious institution renowned for producing many talented musicians over the years. True to the school's reputation, an intriguing rumor is widespread among its students: whosoever provides a spectacular performance at the upcoming festival will receive extra credits.

Serina Akesaka is an outgoing first-year student on the verge of failing her classes. After recalling the circulating rumor, Serina decides to recruit four students—Nazuna Tennouzu, Aliciana Ogata, Hakobe Naru, and Nagi Kobotoke—to form a band with her. As these five passionate girls start their journey together, the music they will soon produce is bound to touch everyone's hearts and leave an everlasting impact.

If you are familiar with K-On in any way, I am confident you will find at least some enjoyment in Irodorimidori (if you haven't drawn parallels between the two already).

Irodorimidori accomplishes satisfyingly enough within its 8 episodes of 3 minutes: It has simple backstories so the events don't really seem spontaneous; it has occasional flares of individualism that show off the obviously pre-natal personalities of our music aficionadas.

For its time frame, Idorimidori is able to deliver something seemingly competent to the audience. However, this in itself, in my opinion, is what prevents it from being any greater. It branches out some, yet many ... of these branches are forcibly torn off by its short duration and the ability to elaborate on them.

There is no action after their performance asides from a brief backstage exchange. There was no transition in between Episode 7 and 8; they went from being backstage straight into the performance upon the first seconds of Episode 8. The main purpose of their performance itself was lost, as their school never stated who won nor did the show even display what happened after they got the reward.

It might be asking almost too much from a show shorter than most single episodes of anime, but filling in gaps such as the aforementioned would make it a better show overall.

Asides from that, the actually music itself wasn't all too bad, I liked it. It was a moderately enjoyable, shorter watch.

Mixed Feelings

This anime is more for the Geki! Chumai audience that are familiar with Irodorimidori in the Ongeki, Chuntihm and maimai games. Due to that, I can't really recommend this anime as it would be subpar just watching it alone, even though I enjoyed it as a Chunithm and maimai player.

The story is short with cliches, though it is meant to show the characters' personalities which arent usually shown in Chunithm other than manga panels.

The characters portrayed in this season is quite flat unfortunately.

I think people that play any of the 3 games mentioned would enjoy this somewhat, and first time comers to the franchise might ... be turned off.

This was one of the worst shows I have ever had the displeasure of watching, there is absolutely nothing redeemable about this sorry excuse of a show. I'd rather rewatch vampire holmes than think about this shit. There wasn't a single brain cell that went into making a creative or new show when this was being made. The entire show is stolen from the hundreds of other generic and bland moe shows out there and it really shows. Every character is a cliche, the artstyle and character designs are the same uninspired shit we've all seen 50 times over and even the writing alone should ... have somebody filing a lawsuit for blatant plagiarism.

This show is remarkably unremarkable in every single way, it doesn't excel at a single thing (not that it tried to do anything in the first place). It's hard to even think of anything to talk about in relation to this show because there is honestly nothing to talk about. If you've seen enough slice of life/comedy anime you can probably guess the entire personality and jokes centered around each character from the poster alone, a quick read of the synopsis and you can probably figure out all the jokes and story bits too. It's insulting how uninspired this dreck is. This show is the perfect example of why so many anime are bad, they don't try, they just copy paste the same things that every other one before it has done so you can literally say you watched everything a show has to offer before watching a single frame of the damn thing.

The ONLY notable things I can say about this rubbish is that irodorimidori is fun to say and that the end cards were nice looking, which is two more compliments than I can give the Pupa anime so I guess it has that going for it. Do not watch this show, even as a joke it's not worth it, it's just boring.
